Dare a married guy meet up with his teenage infatuation? HELP!
by aylesbury_lad inalmost 25 years ago, at 17, i fell under the spell of this gorgeous, sexy, blond sister from a neighboring cong'.
i carried this crush like a pathetic puppy for almost 2 years, never summoning the nerve to ask her out.
i deservedly lost the girl.

Wow, I feel like an impulsive ass...
by Mincan inokay, so i'm talking to my friend on the phone, and i mention to her that i'm going to be asking my pyshiatrist for dexedrine next time i see him.
(i think i mentioned this intention other times, anyway, dexedrine is a brand name for the isolated d-isomer of amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, and it is marketed to treat adhd.
it was actually the first such stimulant to be marketed for this purpose, before ritalin and all the others.

Mincan, first up, good on you for sticking up for yourself to the ignorant asses who don't know what they are talking about.
You sound like you know your drugs, how do these stimulants work on your brain? What parts do they interact with? I take seratonin re-uptake inhibitors, will for the rest of my life. Its OK its just like taking insulin. It helps me live life without being suicidal 24 x 7 and crying and being socially paranoid and having anxiety attacks.
As for taking these drugs without prescription, personally I wouldn't do it, I don't know the drug or its side effects and really Id want my doctor to know. On the other hand, all they do is give you the drug, tell you to take it and then come back and let them know how it went. You're just skipping the first visit. It is illegal, but people do lots of illegal things every day. *shrugs*
Just let us know how you are, and make sure someone here has your number/address.

Moon Landings - Real or Fake?
by Black Man ini've always wondered about this, especially recently.
i've always contended that they were real and ignored the conspiracy theories.
but if they were real, why hasn't nasa been able to send a man to the moon since the 1970s?

I think the name of the tile they left behind proves it was all fake,
the Laser Ranging Retro-Reflector
Now come on, who's gonna believe that?
Here's the vid. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4166049933953240830

Do you have to speak out to be DF for apostacy?
by MissingLink ini'm a bit confused.
i've been worried that i'm going to be df for apostacy because i no longer believe core jw teachings.
i don't have an intention on protesting or strirring things up, but i'm worried because i will not lie to elders if they ask me what i think about things (in a shepherding call).

My OH got disfellowshipped because he told his mum he didn't believe any more and had a bit of an argument with her about evolution. "Somehow" this got back to the elders, the elders rang and asked him if he believed in god or evolution, he said he didn't know for sure one way or the other. They then asked him if he would meet with them he said no way, you can stuff that up your shirt. They df'd him shortly after. Mind you this happened roughly 6 years after our last meeting.

My only problem with the JWs
by dawg inbesides the fact that jws are pious, think only they have the truth, won't read anything with an open mind... hell won't read anything at all minus wt magazines... .
after all this, my only real problem is the shunning... almost everyone i love gets on my nerves from time to time, i get on theirs.
the fact that the jws beliefs is annoying isn't the problem, it just that after they are wrong as hell becasue of their ignorance, they won't talk to you.. i'm not trying to get my family to eradicate their beliefs, i'm just trying to get them to stop shunning those of us that don't believe like them.

Yep, absolutely agree with you. I couldn't care less what they believe as long as families can still treat each other with "natural affection".

Trash THIS!
by Farkel inhere is an interesting challenge for the folks.
this thread revolves around one subject, and that is thomas paine's brilliant critique of the bible written in about 1795. he did most of this from memory, while in prison in france.. http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/thomas_paine/age_of_reason/.
the challenge is this: critique his essays.

It gets loads better. Sometimes though when you think you're perfectly normal, some old JW stuff comes up. and you go "what the...? where'd that come from?"
I have so many true friends now though, they are wonderfull. Some I had as friends before I left the JWs but they were "wordly" friends I had made through work.
Its funny, I told my friends that JW's consider them worldly people and they said they take that as a compliment. lol

Thanks everyone for your hugs, it helps to know others are going through/been through the same thing.
SireNose Thats exactly how I feel, numb, and numb to life as well. Not depressed or sad or anything, just like "Whats the point." I feel like I only keep going for those around me (husband and kids) but Im not suicidal or anything. Just drifting, numb and a pointless existence.
You know, I think Im going to tell my story, I think that will help. There is so much to share. We should do a compilation of ex JW stories and publish, Im sure it would be a best seller, so much juicy stuff!
(Just noticed I am no longer a Newbie, lol)
