  Am I the only 'fruit cake" here?

  before i confess to my rediculous weakness, i just want to assure everyone that i've been out for over 20 yrs - disfed for apostasy - that's true apostasy, as i stopped believing in god.

  i (& hubby) were disfed in 1981. never met another apostate or read anything apostate when we left.

  thought our way out unaided.

  Fruitcake? Naw. Nut case? Maybe. LOL

  I get the same feelings when I glance through a Watchtower, pick up my Interlinear, or respond to posts/chat about Bethel. Fact is, I do have lots of good memories from my 40 years in the org. It wasn't ALL bad ALL the time. It's only natural for the pleasant memories to be evoked by revisiting the circumstances in which they occurred. Like going back to the restaurant where I went out on my first date with my 2nd wife...the marriage went sour 17 years later, but I still fondly recall that night.

  Utopia is a wonderful and fascinating vision, and imho that is probably what draws most people to the org...no pain, no death, no crime, no hunger...many (most?) people DREAM about a world like that.

  That the org has hijacked that dream to serve their own ends does not invalidate the vision. I just keep trying every day to separate that vision and my daily happiness from the conditioning of the org...they are not one in the same.

  The org is so fond of touting 2 Tim 3:1-5 as signs that we are in the last days, and one of those signs is "having no natural affection" (v.3). Of course, they always apply this to the "world," but their own policies show only too clearly that they themselves have no compunctions whatsoever about destroying the natural affection of families...all in the so-called name of "righteousness" and the "purity of the congregation."

  What a bunch of pathetic hypocrites. Or, as Jesus would probably say, "serpents and offspring of vipers."

  Where do I go for help?

  .

  i have not told my story.. i am batteling depressions......and an abusive home enviornment.....loss ofcareer.......the jw abuses were the worst they went to the very core.... i went through a mjor breakdown... lost faith in god...i fear people...... .

  i have seen therapists...some of whom were not able to hel because i was still in the org minset..but after my own research,,,,,i end up teaching the therapists abt cults and hig control groups....... i am tired fo struggling.........if i see a pastoral counselor they will veer me towards religion....i used to believe in jesus before the org...i pray and see no answers......i have no friends......i have a siter and mother............both of whom help with finances as i loss my heath and career but they are pasrt of a long history if dysfunction....... .

  Cyn, for each of us our own personal pain feels worse than anybody else's. Coupled with depression, it can seem insurmountable.

  Like Lew, Tink and Dede said: Sharing our pain with others is part of the healing process. Your circumstances are, to a measure, unique....but not as unique as you may think. Knowing that so many of us are traveling the same road as you are will help you regain a sense of belonging and hope.

  Hang in here with us...we all need each other.

  thank you for remembering me on my birthday.

  i really didn't expect it and was surprised.

  my daughter and her family just left about a half an hour ago, around 10:30 p.m. it was a simple yet fulfilling and great day.

  Who Wrote "Thirty Years A Watchtower Slave...

  when i was recently making a list of the reference books in my personal collection, i recalled that there was this book that the witnesses were afraid of.

  i was in my early twenties, and this fellow in the congregation had upset all the elders because he had read this book (thirty years a watchtower slave) and he tried to tell everyone he came across that the witnesses were wrong.

  there was absolutely nothing wrong with this man.

  i just took a look at h2o, which of course was the pioneering internet jw discussion board.

  at one time, it was the place.

  then this site came along, and nowadays people on h2o are debating whether there is any point in the continued existence of that site:.
