  phone call from witness

  i got a phone call from a jw i met when i moved here 10 months ago.

  she always sat by herself in the hall and looked so out of it.

  well one meeting i mentioned clients and she asked me what kind of clients and i went on th tell her i worked with mental health.

  Lefty/Yadirf, I wouldn't waste my sweat stomping you down, Frankly, you aren't worth it. If I feel you need your butt actually kicked, I will send my cat to do the job. But, if you feel inclined to look me up, I live in Vancouver, Washington and am in the phone book. Loud mouthed bores like you are easily disposed of.

  Your defense of this religion for encouraging women to stay with an abusive man is all too apparent and in the open. Odd that you claim to be inactive for over two decades, yet come here to defend the very religion you yourself won't have anything to do with. You're one sick dude, get help.

  In Vietnam, not an area noted for it's Christmas spirit, we had our own version of the Jingle Bells chorus;

  Lefty/Yadirf, any religion that encourages any woman to remain with a guy that puts a knife to her throat surely has none of God's spirit in them. Any man that encourages a woman to remain in that situation should be tried for accessory to murder, if something happened to her. How can you defend anyone who places a woman in that situation?

  The guy needs his ass kicked, not coddled by religion. Maybe you do too, for defending that decision.

  The Elders, part two

  the elders came over this morning as promised.

  he called before to explain why so as not to show up under false pretenses.

  he said yesterday when he called, he was with a service group so he said he was an "old friend" and wanted to come visit.

  i am a non believer but am very interested in dating a jw.

  we've never discussed the religion but he is the nicest person ive ever met.

  i need information on where they have meetings and when.

  Stef, as I said in your other thread, you would be better off forgetting this guy, unless he is leaving the religion. JWs do not believe in casual dating, just for laughs. To them it is strictly for marriage and the man is considered total boss, especially after the "I do's." Much of their converting is done very subtlely, so as to not scare a possible convert away.

  If you consider yourself a Christian, your whole belief system will change and you will be "taught" that you were raised wrong. If you become a JW, you will be required to minimize contact with your "Christian" family, unless they too convert. If, after being one and married, which will be the goal of his dating you, and you decide to leave the religion, or even if he does, you will be required to shun him, or he you and so will any children you may have. Your life will be centered around study of Watchtower literature and all other literature will be discouraged, especially using the internet.

  Sex will be regulated by the Watchtower too. Oral and such is forbidden, although a few do it anyway. You will be required to give "the marriage due" when he pleases. You will have to do as he says, otherwise, you will not be considered a good wife. Marriage is the sole reason for a JW dating and they are encouraged to date only within the religion. Casual sex is strictly forbidden and he faces expulsion and shunning of he goes along with any.

  Your attraction will pass with this guy, but the lifetime of pain you will get if you stay involved will last forever.

  i need someones advice on dating a jw when im not a believer.

  i've just recently met him, lets call him chad, and he was the most amazing person ive ever met.

  he was easy to talk to and funny, sweet, gorgeous.

  Stef, unless he is on the fringes of JWdom, you can forget any sexual contact at all. That is verbotten! Their main goal is to convert you to being a JW and subject you to the religion. They usually have 3 meeting a week, consisting of 5 hours total and weekend service, (going door to door) for at least the morning on Saturdays. If he is out of school, he is being encouraged to "pioneer," or, be a full time door to door preacher.

  Personally, I would find another guy, unless this one is leaving the religion.

  Are there too many EX-JW Born agains?

  i dont wish to offend anyone but this is what i think.a large number of people who leave the jehovahs witness movment become born again christians or join other religious groups.but is this a sign that many who have learnt that "gods chosen organisation" is wrong have not learnt anything at all?.

  maybe the prospect of facing a future without a god , a divine purpose , and a faith just too much for some people to bear.but in joining another religious group are they not making the same or similar mistakes as before?they are still putting their trust in a ancient book written by people they have never met, interpretted by other people or by themselves, they have not maybe learnt to be analytical in their thinking and to withhold trust until reasonably solid evidence is provided on an issue.. although other religious may or may not be more harmful than jehovahs witnesses if lessons on thinking and reasoning have not been learnt then we could be open to many more errors of judgment in our lives.. so does the fact that many jehovahs witnesses join other religons show that they are just moving on rather than understanding why jehovahs witness are wrong and learning from it?.

  maybe they dont fully grasp that the fudamental flaw to jehovahs witness , is belief in the bible as gods word only the second being following that through an organistation .if the bible is not gods word then all religions who follow it are flawed.. of course what other people choose to think or follow is none of my buisness and i fully respect other peoples right to believe what they want, but if this world is to progress and mankind to improve in thier dealings with one another then we can not all go round living in our own little fantasy worlds , we must be brutal with ourselves in checking why we believe the things we do and trying to align our minds with reality not fantasy.. this apllies to all aspects of our lives.but if we are not honest or open minded and reasonable enough to see there are some massive problems to the bibles authenticity and divine declerations how will we be able to make reasonable decisions in other areas of our lives?

  Speaking solely for myself, I opted for no religion at all. I still believe in God, or at least a God, but am still digging seeking more information on who He really is. Lately, I've been leaning more towards the idea of God being a supreme alien being more than a mystic spirit. Many things in the Bible can be interpreted to mean some sort of aircraft.

  To me, leaving the Watchtower and opting for a BA religion would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. I was raised in a Born Again religion and see many similarities between the control both have over there followers.

  No more fanaticism for me, I've had enough of that.

  I *HAD* a believing mate, but the divorce was final this past November 12th. I still have to see her occassionally, like when she wants money or her car worked on, and I still get witnessed to. It isn't as often as before, maybe due to my "witnessing" against the witnesses to her.

  Regardless, she has the Watchtower, and I have my freedom.

  The Elders are coming over

  after seven years we finally got a call from an elder this morning.

  he wants to come over and talk to steve (he wouldn't talk to me or give me any message).

  this particular elder was from steve's old congregation in austin, texas.
