I doubt it. But if they DID complain, it was probably within themselves (I work in a small hospital so we see it all -- ambulance calls for silly things to us, but life and death to the caller. That's what matters.). My guess it's the Society who complained for one reason or another.

Like someone else said, there's no charge to use 911. The fees start when the ambulance comes out. And the ambulance goes out when it's discerned that it's needed.

I would never put any sort of emergency in the hands of the attendents or convention First Aid over calling 911 like NORMAL people do.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE NOW?

i've been disfellowshipped for 4 years now (for loose conduct - lol) .

what i want to know is, what am i supposed to believe now?

i was brought up a jw but i know that so many of their teachings and doctrines are completely false.

The best thing about leaving the JW is that "supposed to" is no longer in my vocabulary or thinking.

I do know where you're coming from, tho, as I'm in limbo right now myself. And I'm ok with it. You'll figure out your beliefs -- look within, not outside (ie: "religion"). We've been pelted over and over again about how independent thinking is so awful, when in fact it's amazing...

Hang around here -- read lots, think lots. Read the bible if you want. Or don't. :) There are no boundaries on you, don't seek some out so quickly. :)

Watchtower comments that were extremely lame!!!!!

i always remember a point to the watchtower study, was that your comments should be about something that meant something to you or something you learned from the experience.

well, did anyone have a brother or sister in the congregation who did this .... "i would like to define the meaning to the most simplest word in this paragraph, to see if i can seem smart for knowing how to use a dictionary?".

... when i say simple word, i mean people defining "honor" or maybe something like "knowledge" or any other word a person with an education beyond the forth grade would know without the look-up.

For any who still attend meetings, count the number of times you hear someone say, "And we can appreciate that..." in one comment.

OMG, you hit the thing that keeps the kids and I amused at meetings these days.... We count the number of times a certain elder uses the word "appreciate". He had a 12min service meeting part once where he said appreciate 35 times. No lie. We thought of putting a thesaurus in a gift bag and leaving it in the library for him. Funny, all I remember of his talks is that word, nothing at all about the topic. ~merfi, of the Unappreciative Class

When I was DF, I called the PO of the ex's congregation for this exact same thing. He told me "You need to focus on restoring your spirituality and relationship with Jehovah" blahblahblah and didn't bother to listen to me... I was just another 'worldly' person, so couldn't be trusted. Maybe if I'd stated the scrip about providing for the household, it would have sparked him. But prolly not. Anyway, my attorney got the ex's attention with a threat or two. I'd recommend using the legal system vs the WT "system".

Another point -- they may take it as you being scorned and vengeful, kwim? (this is what I've heard from my own creep elders about my own situation) Not that you are, but as a DF person, his remarriage etc -- it's just how it may APPEAR to those who are looking for it.

When you were a JW, did anyone ask you a question that caused you to doubt?

no dotrinal question could shake me, but it was a personal one, out in service that started my initial doubts.

a man asked me: 'are you really happy?

' i couldn't say, 'no, i'm miserable' but i thought it was a powerful question, anyone else asked something that really shook them?

One of my EMT buddies and I would go around and around about creation vs evolution. I, of course, HAD to be on the creation side lest I 'bring reproach' and falter in my expected beliefs. But I never truly, deeply believed the creationist view I was arguing. He always made some good points that I thought about a lot. During one conversation, we both agreed on Natural Selection (I always have, but thought that since it didn't come out and SAY "evolution", I was ok. ). He said "well that's evolution!" Verbalizing what was rattling around in my brain anyway. I carried this around for quite some time... one of the first doubts I had. The other doubts evolved from there. haha :)

A New Voice

i haven't been involved with the jws in nearly five years now.

i was raised as a witness from the time i was seven until i was 17 and a junior in high school.

i don't have any particularly sad stories to tell, really, except that the process of leaving the organization--even though i was never baptised--was the hardest thing i've ever gone through.
