Retiring today!

today is my 60th birthday, so i am now officially retired!

actually, my last day at work was yesterday, and my colleagues gave me flowers, wine, chocolate and took me out to lunch.. this is the first birthday i've ever had as a non jehovahs witness, and it feels very strange to be even acknowledging it, let alone celebrating.

i am going out tomorrow evening with trev, linda and a few other fading or former jws for a curry at a local restaraunt, which i'm very much looking forward to.

Hi everyone

i haven't posted for a while, but my friend linda (fullofdoubtnow) has kept me updated with what's been happening on the board, so i've been with you all in spirit.

i've managed to keep myself fairly busy since leaving the witnesses though.

i am attending a couple of evening classes, on tuesdays and thursdays, keeping busy on former meeting nights, and i have been going to church on sundays, something i never in my wildest dreams thought i'd do at the beginning of this year!.

Who Was Your Favorite School Teacher and Why?

dear grown-up students,.

a lot of adults were influential in my formative years, but right now i'm thinking of how school teachers got me to where i am today.

it's one in particular to whom i owe the most.

Mr.Dobbin - he was my English teacher. Real old school, super strict but so passionate about his subject. My grasp of the English language and my love of English literature are fantastic due to him being my teacher.

I miss school, can I go back?

no, i'm not talking about being gay, although if i was, i'd come out about that too.

no, i'm talking about coming public about having been a jw and explaining why i feel the jw is a dangerous cult.. now, i don't have a huge readership on my blog, but i've never talked about my jw past to anyone outside of that organization or this board.

i would love to hear any advice from those who have been out and successfully dealing with the mental and emotional abuse that the jw poured out.

Did Adam know the full consequences of his sin?

" romans 5:12. this verse has been used to prove that adam was responsible for sin and death.. from a christian standpoint, this is true.

did adam really know the full effects of eating the forbidden fruit?.

No because Adam did not exist. He was made up in order to explain to half wits the beginning of the human race.

Our Puppy did not make it.

well after going to bed early for it has been a long day i was awaken by my fourteen year old and she was crying for the vet just called and the puppy i got them two weeks ago just died.

the breeder was at an expo at city hall and they all gave me those "mom i am going to die if i don't have her" looks till i forked over money i did not have for this lil baby beagle.

we brought her home and i thought my she must be so tired for she slept a lot the first day.

Poor puppy.

Parvo is awful, they really don't stand a chance once they get it.

Definitely try and get the breeders in trouble.

Should I leave the WTS?

after hearing the coverups and scandals, im thinking about leaving the wts for good.

while reading all of these coverups, i felt like my wife just cheated on me with my brother.

Yeah leave or fade, whatever works for you. You are so young and have your whole life ahead of you. So many people on this board, myself included, have thrown away the best years of our lives in a religion we don't believe in.

Don't waste any more precious time in a cult which is evil and based on lies.

Feeling very down right now.

today has been one of those days for me.feeling very down and depressed.. finding out that you were living a lie for so long can be devastating to many.

i will however pick myself up again.

You have a really good reason to be happy. You live in South Africa, a beautiful country. I went there on my honeymoon, it was amazing.

It is cold and windy here in the UK, I bet it's lovely in your neck of the woods.

satan threw open a challenge to jehovah (according to jw theology) that he could turn anyone against god and that peeps only served him by what they could get out of it ( living forever on a paradise earth........um) .

well, since yourve got to be a dedicated witness, everyone else is wrong, wicked, corrupt whatever.

who could claim victory for this................... 6 million out of satans 6 billion.. so, id say satan is the winner.

Great thread Vitty, Satan certainly has won (if there is a Satan that is).

And Jehovah lost the argument in the garden of Eden too. When will he learn. Not too many brains for the god of the universe eh?

I don't hate jw's as most of my family are still in. Also I was friends with some genuinely lovely people when I was still in.

What I hate is how all these innocent people have been lied to and brainwashed by an evil mind controlling cult.
