Yes it is old news, but i am relatively new on here so haven`t seen any posts on it. It is just something that has bothered me since i found out, and wondered what anyone else thought about it. Are there any old posts on it?

Had the Circuit Overseer
by KW13 indownstairs yesterday we had the circuit overseer.
i hate how they are supposed to be humble men, yet they have everyone worried.
its more like the boss checking on your work.

I`m relatively new to this site, but i must say it has benefited me already, hearing other people`s view`s and experiences. Simon you must have helped a lot of people, probably saved lives, by opening this site, and let`s hope it will carry on helping other`s heal from the aftermath of being in that mind controlling cult! Thanks!

Live shunning incident #2
by sass_my_frass intoday, on a lunch date with my beloved, a young jw couple i vaguely knew walked in and were seated right next to us, just as he saw me so there was no going back.
now there are a few schools of thought re what to do when being shunned; get their attention and chat politely; keep it going for a while until they feel awkward; shun them back... i haven't picked an angle yet.
anyway i saw him in time to pretend that i'd not noticed that it was them, and was just ignoring the strangers sitting next to us in the busy cafe.

I think the best thing is to ignore them, because what ever you say or do will be hot gossip. Personally, i get irritated when i see them, even ones who i was friendly with, as i know how there minds work, (been there, done it)! I wouldn`t give them the satisfaction of letting them know where you are at. The best thing is to look happy, like you are really enjoying your new freedom.

How much is the Watchtower worth?

what i can`t understand is what they are doing stockpiling money, when they could give some to the poor bro`s in africa etc.
give to poor pioneers, and hard up ones in congregations.

Most JWs know that personal luxury is not the driving force of the people who are at the top, nor even the people who make the decisions regarding the expenditures and investments of that money. They are actually driven, I think, by another kind of greed. The greed of "spiritual" exclusivity, power or control over others. They want to be the ones who have a personal part in the exclusive club of "the only ones who are right in the entire world". Being in an exclusive (privileged) position in the most exclusive "club" in the world provides them with an extra level of specialness that the average JW doesn't get, but still respects. This is so true Gamaliel, there is a spiritual snobbery, i noticed it all the time, with pioneers, elder`s, bethelites, c/o`s and d/o`s.

As a new person posting on here, i find it quite therapeutic to have freedom of speech and to enjoy other people`s freedom to express what they believe, as we can learn from other people`s views, even if we don`t agree with them. I haven`t felt bullied, teased maybe, but i am so grateful to be able to connect with other`s after being isolated after leaving the borg.
