They refused to call it apostolic succession, but that's what it amounted to. They've since changed that with new light. -

They may not make a personal paycheck, but they are no doubt lavished with gifts, large sums of cash, fine dining, and never have to lift a finger.
I mean, if a circuit overseer rakes in a decent amount of cash via green handshakes, what do people hand the GB members?
They never have to pay a single penny for anything in their lives. They're always with at least one sycophant who will step on their grandmother to say "no brother, let me buy that for you."
Edit: So I'd say money is definitely a factor. Plus worship and adoration. Pretty awesome gig. All you have to do is become a sociopath.

The "Final Push" before the GT!!! I think they REALLY believe it!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know if i have shared this with everyone, but there seems to be a new theocratic term, at least in my circuit.. the term is "final push.
" wtf does it mean?
well, an eldub said that the gb are "all in" with warwick and they might spend all their money on the project.

This has to be one of the most, if not the most damning articles they've ever written. Every single point they make points back at them. They even use propaganda techniques about themselves in the very article condemning propaganda! Check out the "Straw Man" technique below:
"IS THE WORK OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES PROPAGANDISTIC?
Some opponents of Jehovah’s Witnesses have accused them of spreading Zionist propaganda. Others have charged that the ministry of the Witnesses promotes Communism. Still others have claimed that the work of Jehovah’s Witnesses promotes the ideals and interests of “American imperialism.” And there are those who assert that the Witnesses are anarchists, fomenting disorder with the aim of changing the social, economic, political, or legal order. Obviously, these conflicting accusations cannot all be true."

How Much Do Circuit Overseers Make Under the Table, and is it Taxable?
by Tazemanian-devil ini was thinking about green handshakes, and i knew my wife and i personally would try to slide at least $100 each c.o visit to the c.o.
if we were low on cash, we'd never hand him less than $20.
how many of such handshakes does he receive in a weeks time?

How many of such handshakes does he receive in a weeks time? A dozen or more, of probably at least $20. And you know the wealthy brothers looking for privileges would give a lot more.
And does he report such income on his taxes? I wonder if the IRS could look into this section of the group, and slap them with some kind of fine?
Remember how they took down Al Capone.

I felt the same way as you a few months ago, but I decided I could not continue to live a lie, so I left. So far, my wife is still by my side, even though still a card carrying jw. However, whatever happens, I will never live my life for anyone else ever again. -

Why would you want to wake up before the 90s?
by John Aquila inif you were a jw in the late 70s into the late 80s you might have been one of those brothers or sisters that just happened to be in the right kingdom hall and with the right people.
during that time being a jw wasnt too bad if you were able to establish the right connections.
a person could pioneer for a while and be appointed as a ministerial servant in a year or two and within 5 years you could be an elder in your twentys.
