I was raised a witness, so I really didn't know any different. As I got older, and could think rationally for myself, I realized that pretty much everything of a doctrine issue was wrong.

What Doctrine Or Belief Didn"t You Agree W...
by minimus inwhen you get baptized, you are expected to swallow a multitude of beliefs that either you never really understood or simply didn't truly believe in.
when going over questions for baptism, almost nobody understood the concept of the"faithful and discreet slave".
yet after it was attempted to explain this mumbo-jumbo, every candidate meekly just went along with the explanation without ever truly understanding the fallacy.

I do think we need to move in a forward position in life, no doubt. For some it will take longer, but to stew over what happened in the past long term, or to allow it to overtake our daily lives, will keep us from progressing forward.
The bottom line though, I agree, is to move on, and get over it. A song that comes to mind is off of a recent Eagles c/d, called Get Over It. It really does make sense.

Thanks for posting that. I am suprised that she was willing to talk to you, but then, what one does in the privacy of their home with no one knowing, may be far different than what they do at the hall.
The lady you talked to, seemed to be incredibly boring. She seems to take her husbands or the WTS's word for everything, and just will not think for herself. The fact that she kept saying that it would happen in Jehovahs time, or that he would take care of it, seems to me that she is not an assertive woman by any means.
I would imagine her life is very simple, and goes through life very slowly. Take care of her daughter, go to meetings, sit at home, with absolutely no ambition whatsoever.
So sad. And she is only 42. Another possible 40 years of a pathetic life. She sounds so boring now, what on earth would she do for eternal life in paradise.
I think that would be hell, to be stuck with boring people forever.

Here is a weird one for you.
by freedom96 ini have had two very interesting yet weird experiences in the last couple of years, and would like some opinions on them.. i had a customer come into my store about 1 1/2 years ago.
long story will be cut short.
as we are talking, he says, "you are a good man, you care about people.

I kept wanting to use the words "New Age" but didn't know if it fit. It sure was different, and seemed to have an ability to "read" people fairly well.
Of course the WTS would definately say that those people are demonic.

I have had two very interesting yet weird experiences in the last couple of years, and would like some opinions on them.
I had a customer come into my store about 1 1/2 years ago. Long story will be cut short. As we are talking, he says, "You are a good man, you care about people." I thanked him, and thought ok, weird comment, but ok. We continue talking more as we were discussing a possible purchase for him. A few minutes later, he comments: "You injured your arm bad." Now, a few months had gone by, but indeed I had shattered my arm in 5 places. I was fully healed, and in no way shape or form gave any indication that I had been injured.
How on earth did he know? He actually went to the extent to say that I had broken it.
Yesterday, I had a couple came into my store, and they talked similar talk. They said that they could sense it, what type of person I was etc.
They believed in previous lives, they believed that the body will tell you what you should do. For example, if you are allergic to a food, having it in your hand will make you weaker.
Another example, is when deciding what they should do regarding a purchase, they closed their eyes, and said that if their body leaned forward, it mean yes, if their body went back, it meant no.
Nice people, just the whole thing was bizarre. Anyone buy into this? Anyone have similar experiences?
One last thing, is that when I told them I broke my arm, and the previous experience with the other customer, they said it was the right arm. Which it was. AND .......... they told me where I broke it, exactly.
What do you think???

Bumper Sticker for my parent's cars
by Elsewhere ini've been thinking about printing up some bumper stickers for my parent's cars... .
i shun my son.
because hes not a jehovahs witness.
-
freedom96
That is a good one. You just need to find a way for the sticker to stay, instead of them pulling it off.
For those inclined to have stickers on their cars, one could put a sticker on that reads "My parents/ family shuns me because I am not a Jehovah's Witness."
The world out there needs to know how wacked the WTS really is.
