Having gone through a horrible divorce years ago, it is refreshing to hear a story of two divorced people getting along. How much easier that has got to be than with all the fighting that sometimes continues afterwards.
Happy for you!
as many of you know, i'm divorced, have been for 2 years now, after a 13 year marriage.
my ex and i get along pretty well, we're friends of a sort, and we have our kids' well being as our main priority in life.
that's not the weird part..well, i suppose in some ways it is, but that may be a story for another post!.

met with mayor .
during his campaign for mayor, jack ellis promised that his office would always be open for the citizens of macon.
so, on dec. 17, a spiritual brother and i, both jehovah's witnesses, called on the mayor to present an important article in our magazine that contained a recent landmark decision by the u.s. supreme court that gives us and others a legal right to visit the homes of the people to express our views.
Really don't understand what their reasoning was to visit with the mayor, and then write a letter on it. Either way, they were associating with a wordly political leader, and that is bad association.
at this time of the year i like to contemplate on the lessons learned during the .
previous year.
i have a question for anyone wanting to share their own experiences: have you been swindled or conned this year or previously?
If I had only one word to describe not being conned or swindled, I would say:
POSTURE
If you stand up for what you are saying and believe in, be direct, take control of the situation, you are more likely not to be a victim.
When conducting a business transaction, there is no reason not to be friendly, but at the same time realize it is a business transaction, and let the others know what you expect. Stand up, be noticed, and you should be just fine.
The other recommendation, is to not do anything without thinking about it away from the situation.
well, i'm old as the hills today...........and for anyone wanting to know details, lets just say i'm over 21............. .
i'm leaving in about 20 minutes to go over to my horrible "apostate" friends house where they're giving me a (gasp!
) birthday partaaaaaaa!!!
Have a great time!
i'm fairly new here but regularly i read posts that recognize the significant lack of love among jw's.
would i be speaking too simply to say that since god is love... they just haven't truly accepted him into their hearts rendering them incapable of exibiting pure christian love in their lives?.
love isn't something we do for him, it's something he does through us.
Gig- It is that easy, and I think Kelsey summed it pretty well.
do you think that there should be laws that forbid either adults from deciding if their minor children will refuse blood, and or laws forbiding minors from refusing blood.
i ask because on one hand i don't know if the law should be able to circumvent parents rights, but on the other hand in a matter of life and death, should we allow children to make a permanent decision(or their parents)about something they may come to recognize later as wrong.
I like what Scully says goes on in Canada. At the same time, perhaps an older teenager who is in a position to make an intelligent decision can have an opinion on the matter as IslandWoman questioned.
But to allow parents who have a wacked view of religion and refuse blood, or treatment for that matter as some religions do, is doing a disservice to those children who just don't have a say in the matter.
everywhere i go at the moment, ...it's christmas!.
constant "reminders" - the shops, the tv, the magazines, the newspapers... .
whilst you were still a jw, how did you manage to get through it all?
I never did think of Christmas as pagan, even when a witness. I just figured, that sucks we don't get to do it.
so now the wt is selling cars?.
not only that, but you buy these cars for the co's?
let me get this straight, i buy a car but it's not for me?
I talked to someone there at circuit leasing, and asked him some questions. One of the first was how they get the cars, and do they have anything to do with Jehovahs Witnesses. He asked why?
The whole time, he was a complete asshole. He gave a terrible example of brotherly love. If I were studying, and got treated the way I did on the phone, I would have quit immediately.
The guy was a complete jerk.
for those who just up and left the wts, what was the one thing, if any, that made you think to yourself, allright, that is it, i am outa here!

we were watching "everybody loves raymond" tonight at supper time.
it was the episode where debra decides to try a job outside the home.
she doesn't do it for the money - the barone family is doing just fine on ray's salary - she does it because she needs something "more" than just being a wife and mother.. naturally, there's subtle and not-so-subtle criticism of debra's desire to do something that will make her feel like a more rounded-out person.
Two dreams of mine were constantly squashed growing up as a witness. First, was a wife, and a family to grow old with. I was being told all the time that the end was right around the corner. I remember the WTS talking about when the nations claim peace and security, then the end was coming. I think 1986 was a year that indeed Peace and Security was talked about, and was I pissed. I had just turned 18, time to enjoy life, and now it was going to end? I felt so cheated. I was not able to live a real life.
The other thing was that I always wanted to make a lot of money. Not ever to show off to others and put them down for not having any, but I wanted the security and be able to do fun things with it. Of course the WTS taught that was materialism, and that anyways the end was coming in a couple of years, and whatever one did to create money, it would be useless.
Well, I am sitll here, and the world has not ended. I do have a wonderful wife (2nd time around) and I am on my way to getting where I want to be financially.
I will allow no one to ever steal my dream, regardless of what it is. For others, I say to dream big, and make it happen.
I firmly believe that God will not give anyone a dream without a way to make it happen.
