by johnny cip inok so i'm driving my truck at 169st and college ave bx this morning at 9:30 am ... what luck i have about 30 + wtites going into the fs.. i stop and talk to a group of sisters , and get them to commit that the wt mag is the word of god etc.
then i ask for a mag ,and how much ... you know the line to pay for the printing and so on.. at this point i give 10 cents and ask for 3 cents change... and get it lol... as this is a all black cong.. i go into all the racist that was taught by the wt ... the girls are getting upset... i let them know the wt said that if they pray hard enough they could become white... a couple of the bro's came over ,one was intersted in what i said ,,i slipped him my phone # he said he would call...after the sisters ran away the leader of this pack saw me talking to this bro and chased him off... then i started with him telling the kids he was with that by following the elder he was leading them to death.
that he should put a millstone around his neck and jump into the hudson river for stumbling the childeren what these false prophecies... he asked me to give him a date of false prophecy...ho ho i threw about 20 at him and asked him which one he wanted to study.. as we are at the hall now lets check out the library ... well his head started spinning... i said come on you are calling me a liar in front of your cong.. now back it up... all the while i'm telling the kids the wt is satan... well i shut him up fast, he was running in and out of the hall fumbling for his keys... and i didn't let up the whole time.... i left a lot of food for thought only hope a few may open their eyes..... john

On a more serious note, I believe in my heart that the "WWJD" stuff that is going around has done more good for people on a whole than all the years the WTS has been around.
At least people wear it because they want to, and maybe it does indeed help them think before they react. No harm in that.

Panic when visitors arrive
by Elsewhere ini recall several instances when a "stranger" walked into the hall in the middle of the meeting.
it never failed... everyone in the hall would turn around and look at the person with shock and bewilderment.
a sense of unease would pass across the entire audience.. all available elders would then run to meet the person and "interrogate" him to make sure he wasn't there to crash the meeting.. ahhh yes... can't you feel the love?.

Another example of the witness paranoia of anything or anyone that they don't know. Sad, really.

JWs at my door
by larc inabout two months ago, two witnesses showed up at my door - the first visit in over 10 years.
they were nicely dressed in suits - two men in their mid to late 30's.
the one doing the talking presented the magazines.

I feel better about myself as a person after leaving the WTS. No longer being a witness allows me the freedom to help others as I wish, and not to be judgemental. We were taught to be very critical, and now I can be more caring, and that can be to anyone, not just another witness.
I can allow myself to become a better person by spending more time with my family instead of being at meetings all the time. I can pursue material possesions to help my own family as well as others without being counciled about being materialistic.
I can be the real me.

Holiday field service....as a kid
by freedom96 inmost of my jw experience was as a kid, and i remember going out in service on holidays, christmas in particular.. number one, it sucked because most people were there, and boy did i love not-at-homes.
they would answer, there would be food cooking, there was a full house with relatives and friends, and as you talked to the householder, everyone else in the house wanted to see who was there.
most of the time they treated us ok, but once in a while you would hear some person in the background make a snide remark.

The worst part was watching all the other kids playing with their new toys. Oh, sure, we got presents other times of the year. Remember how our parents justified it. But these kids were having so much fun. And the fact was, they got presents year round too. AND they even got birthday presents too. So, really, we kinda got screwed. But that is not the point. We were drug out in service, all dressed up, and had to watch all these other people have a great time.
I also remember going out in service the day after the fourth of July. Now, this day was ok, because as we walked down the streets, I would keep my eye out for unused firecrackers! My elder dad would never of course let us buy these things at the firework stand, but he said ok if I found some in the gutter. Sometimes I would get 5-10 of them, and then he would light them a few days later. When I was real young, that was very exciting.
Halloween always was interesting with all the "scary" stuff hanging in the windows. The more scary stuff, then the more satanic the householder.
Just a few of my wonderful memories as a child!

JW's come knocking on Christmas
by DIM inwell, after 10 months, the jw's finally came knocking on my apartment - on christmas day!
in my head, i was going to debate with them, maybe even reason with them.....what actually happened is that for some reason, all of the emotional things inside of me came to the fore and i waited until they were leaving my apartment, i opened up my door, grabbed the tract, crumpled it into a ball, threw it at them and rattled off a string of profanities (which i won't repeat here, out of respect for simon's rules).
i was really mad at myself for doing this, but at the same time it provided an immense cartharsis for me.

I hated going out in service on holidays. I never did as an adult though. Though most people were friendly, I still hated it. Most people were home, and I just felt like an idiot standing there, with no presents, no loved ones around having fun.

Did anybody get The Bell?
by Nickey induring the thocratic school during our tuesday meetings, i dreaded hearing the bell.
*ding* someone had run over 5 minutes and had to cut their talk short.. this part always disturbed me.
nevermind the fact that these people worked hard to prepare their talk about something they felt was worthwhile, they have to be humiliated and cut off in front of the whole congregation.

It has been about 8 years since I have gone to any meetings on a regular basis, and I had forgotten all about the bell. I do remember people be counciled to get off the stage as quickly as possible. Some would screw it and leave even if it was in the middle of a sentence. Others would quickly wrap it up. But if you kept going, boy did you get some shocked looks.
