Does anyone else flip off the Kingdom Hall when they drive by?
by Dustin inso it has become habit for me to go out of my way when driving to make sure i can give it the finger as i drive by.
i especially like to do this on the way to one of my favorite bars, especially on meeting nights just so people who knew me can see me do it.
i don't know why, but this has become a tradition of sorts.

When I drive by, and cars are there for the meeting, I smile every time.
It sure feels good not to be there. Day or night.

Just curious...."service, and gas money"
by riotgirlpeeps inlocally on occasion it was the common practice when "in service" to leave gas money for the driver.
i know that the individuals if savvy can get a tax credit for mileage for service (and i was once told mileage to and from public talks could also be included).
what i am curious about is do people still give the driver money for thier trouble?

Never personally gave money, though I remember some people "helping" the pioneers out with some money for gas etc, being they usually had no job, or a really poorly paid one.

If the elders tried this with me, they would have serious problems on their hands.

Are there benefits to DAing Yourself?
by zenpunk ini've been away from this board for a really long time, since then i've made huge progress in my recovery from life in the jw world thanks to some professional help.
now i am at the point where i just don't want to be anywhere near anyone remotely associated with the organization.
my parents no longer speak to my husband and i, but when i do have to interact with my jw inlaws i feel incredibly sick.

Now that the elders will not announce da or df, it has taken some of the sting out of it, in my opinion. You will simply be announced as no longer a JW, and people will speculate.
To solve that, you could always send a letter personally to anyone that you care about, so there is no doubt what is going on.
Personally, I have faded, but for the most part due to moving etc, I have been able to do so without any conflicts. Plus, I don't want to feel as though I have to play their game by announcing one way or another what I intend to do with myself. I will not answer to them.
For others, it is neccessary to complete their transition out of the organization.
Either way is fine, best wishes to you.

That list is insane and pathetic. What a bunch of dribble.
Though, it would be interesting to sneak a peak at what goes on in there.

if anyone is awake I need a quote or quotes about going into a church.
by PaNiCAtTaCk inwe are to have a family reunion soon and i was asking my cousins if they were going.
they said probably not because they heard it would be in a building that was part of the babtist church.
im at work so i cant research it but i need quotes to email him saying that it would be up to his conscience.
-

I know that there are Awake articles about it being up to your concience in going into a church for a wedding. So if you can do that, then who knows. It did caution though, if you were a member of the wedding party, that you would not want to partake in any of their pagon customs.
But, back to your question, it did say it was a concience matter. I remember reading before attending a friends wedding back in 1988, so it had to be before that. I think it may have been in the Questions from the Readers.

About to get df'd(?) need suggestions.
by Insomniac inso, here's the skinny:.
i haven't been to a meeting in over two years.
i haven't been in service since i can't remember when.

I would have said to beat them to the punch and publicly da yourself. But, now, from what I understand, everyone, regardless of da'ing or df'ing simply gets announced as no longer being one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

It amazes me that so many people fall for this garbage for so long.
