Question about Settlement of Child Abuse Cases.

i have two points to make that i feel are valid.

correct me if i'm wrong.

1) where are the funds coming from to pay out these settlements?

Any assets can be used to settle a debt. You are assuming that you entered into some type of contract that your donations would be only used the way you think they should be used. Jim Bakker entered into a contract with the renting of rooms at his hotel and that is why he was convicted of fraud. When a entity reaches a court settlement any asssets can be used by the courts to settle the debt.

Just be glad you are not a Catholic in Oregon where every member can be held liable for the child abuse debt owed by the Church.

i always wondered how all the facts about the 144.000 written in revelation are discarded by jws.. i would like to know how the wts talks all these things away that doesnt fit their doctrine.. .

The NIV does not use virgin but pure and NIV bible study notes purpose that the defile themselves with women means pagan world system. I guess you would have to get into the original Greek to see if you agree with their definition.

they've actually been back a couple times but i haven't been home.. the first time the came back was the day of the memorial, they dropped off a second invitation, just in case i misplaced the first one, i guess.

my wife was home and talked to them for a couple seconds but they weren't too interested in talking to her.. it had been a little while since the first time i talked to them as i've been busy on saturdays, so this time they came on a thursday afternoon around 3pm and i just happened to be home.

the lady started out by saying how last time she visited we talked about world conditions, which we didn't as you can read in my previous post on the matter, and then went on, reading a scripture, the one that talked of the last days where all these horrible things will happen, like greed and drunkeness, children won't listen to parents and people won't love god.

But Devine cautioned locals to not start practicing their backhand: The court is only open to Jehovah’s Witnesses who live in other Watchtower buildings in DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights — not to the general public. Varna. VMRO is getting ready for a serious counteraction against a meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses in the city of Varna, chairman of the citizens’ organization of the party Nikolay Petrov told FOCUS-Varna Radio.
The date and the place of the meeting has not been confirmed yet. Petrov said that VMRO would react as soon as it learned something about the meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses. The party is backed by the bishops of Varna and Veliki Preslav.
On April 28th, Jehovah's Witnesses held a congress in the town of Dobrich. The municipal organization of VMRO in the Bulgarian town of Dobrich and the Vicar’s office staged a rally under the motto “Dobrich against sects”. Churches organized processions. A declaration was adopted calling the Parliament to deny registration to dangerous sects.

I wonder if there will ever be a shooter....

watching coverage of the va tech shooting, and thinking about how people who feel powerless and taken advantage of, can plan and carry out such a crime, i wonder when someone will break under the pressures put on by wt and tragically committ one of these at a kingdom hall.

there are probably people who under the right mix of circumstances, mental illness and opportunity, are capable of doing this in the jw cult.

any thoughts?.
