I have read some of his writing on the e-watchman site but I disagree strongly with his assesment that the Jehovah's Witnesses more closely match sprititual Isrealites. The whole organization from the beginning was founded on false teachings. The true spiritual Jews are those who are spirit begotten (filled with holy spirit) and baptized into the body of Christ. No organization affiliation is needed at all. We are living members in the body of Christ, the church of the firstborn. Many people are enslaved to various religions thinking they are pleasing God. But not understanding that he works with individuals by use of his Holy Spirit and not with organizations any longer. And ALL of the worlds largest religious institutions claim they are the only true religion and apply all the prophecies to themselves. If he had broken his ties to the WT organization and looked outside of them, he would have seen that there is a lot of truth outside the WT. And he would probably have grown more spiritually.

Bob,
you make a good point. Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to interpret prophecies and proving other people wrong that we forget about the most important issue which is Christs ransom for mankind and our future salvation from sin and death. There are two main important teachings for me in the bible and I think everything else hinges on them: The ransom and the restitution of all.

If a sign of God's people, is that the world would turn on them?
by free2beme in... wouldn't it make sense that they would actually be viewed enough as important, that they might be mentioned in the news a bit?
i can honestly say that i hardly hear of any witnesses being mentioned in the news and when they are, it is a small part that is hardly noticed and not flattering to the witnesses.
if i were to see this sign, as something that made you think a religion was god's chosen, simply on the idea that the world would turn on them.

Jesus said his followers would be persecuted on account of his name. The witnesses are never persecuted because of Jesus name. As a matter of fact, most people do not even know they believe in Jesus because they do not preach the biblical gospel about him. Same thing with Mormons. But Witnesses will tell you they are persecuted more. It is simply not true. In those countries where they are persecuted, it is becuase the governments control religion and do not allow any that claim to be Christian to practice their religion. All the Christians in those countries are persecuted not just JWs.

I just wrote a 6 page letter
by Kero-kero ini addressed it to a couple of elders.
one elder i feel i can trust and one elder is in the congregation i used to attend.....*cough* still assigned to....it is just a letter which expresses my concerns and doubts and personal issues with the wts and congregation(s) i did not go it to much detail but it should be enough for them to at least understand my veiw point.
i have asked if they could reply to me...or at least make some kind of comment...even if it to just try and ease my doubts and concerns.

My letter was very similiar and I also asked for elders to correct my views if they were wrong. that was two years ago and no one has ever came by. They announced at the hall shortly afterward that my hubby and I are no longer known as Jehovah's Witnesses, which is the same as disfellowship or disasociate anyway. They can do this as per their own descretion now. I don't know if you are aware of this change. I don't remember the article but it said the elders could announce you are no longer a Witness for any actions that "prove" you are no longer loyal to Jehovah. They do not list any examples so I think it is pretty much open to the "elders" interpretation. Good luck, Lilly

helterskelter?
by kilroy2 in.
has any one ever brought up for discussion, the line of thinking between charlie manson and the dubbs, in that they both believed in a apocalypse and that they would be the only ones to survive or rule after the end

good point. This seems to be the case in all the cults whether big or small. They all make the followers feel special in that they are only approved of by God and will survive his wrath at armegeddon. They are willing to do anything their leaders tell them to do because it is the leader who taught them this special truth. To think I was once a JW and would have let my own child die rather than get a blood transfusion when I did not even understand the scriptural posistion on it. So glad to be free!

How do you deal with JW's knowing they will shun you?
by JH ini went to the grocery store yesterday, and i saw a jw who was looking at me with a sort of sad face.
i said hello, and he didn't reply.
so why does he stare at me for if he knows he won't reply to me when i say hello?

one elderly lady who accidently walked right into my path in a walmart almost fell over her own feet trying to get away from me. She was saying "oh,oh" and was very awkward nearly tripping to get away fast. It was so hillairous like I had the plague or something.
Then there is this other old nut job who used to be jealous of me when I was in the hall. She just hides behind the aisle in the grocery store and stares at me then turns away when I turn towards her. The next time she does this I think I will say something like, do the elders know you are spying on me? And see what she does.

Give your experience of hypocrytical elders, here`s mine!
by dido ini will feel better once i get this off my chest, i don`t know whether it`s ok to mention the cong, but anyway, it`s hayes cong in middlesex.
what happened, i stopped going to the meetings, and was trying to `fade`, but who should appear on my doorstep, 2 `busy` elder`s (who had nothing better to do, obviously!
) anyway, they said `oh sister, we miss you bla bla bla`, got the bible out, tried to make me feel guilty by reading some scripture`s out loud, brought tears to my eyes, etc.

Besides hiding child molestors, the elders in my congregation used to give a lot of local need parts on keeping your family in line, the man the head of the house, etc. But they had the worst families of anyone in the hall. The congregation called the busy body elders wives the "elderesses" and their kids were the most snotty, self righteous of the whole bunch! Also all the wives were on some type of medication for anxiety or depression and one elder admitted he had an unhappy marriage. I wonder now if they did the local needs as a way of speaking to their own family but were too spineless to do it in person? Who knows but what hippocrites anyway.

Do we trade one arrogant "I am right" for another "I am right" attitude?
by free2beme inwhen i was a witness, i was very arrogant in my life in thinking i was right in all things.
the right religion, the right bible, the right understanding and the right lifestyle.
when i left, it was not hard to shake this arrogance and i found at times i was the same person, only with a different "right" message and i annoyed my witness relatives as much as they annoying me.

One of the most humbling experiences I have had since leaving the Org. is that I was wrong on many subjects and I came to realize that people in mainstream religion had a lot of things right. More than the WT thats for sure. Since then, I have tried really hard to listen to others views. I am much more open now to certain ideas of evolution, such as the earth is millions of years old, than I was as a witness. As a witness I would have blindly said I didn't believe it but have no proof to offer as to why I felt that way.
I am finding that my hubby though is still as close minded as before. He was a STAUNCH witness and I guess I never really was. Anyway, he rolls his eyes at me if he disagrees. And my daughter had some questions about evolution because she is learning about it in school and my hubby started getting very loud with her to try to prove her wrong and was talking down to her. His way of disagreeing is to call your idea stupid but not tell you why. It really got on my nerves. Is anyone else here dealing with a hubby or wife like this?
Anyway, I recently purchased a book I am reading and my hubby wants to read it after me. It is called Bad News Religion and was written by a Pastor Greg Albrecht. He has an online ministry and his motto is Christianity without the religion. You can view his site here: www.ptm.org
He is not against attending a church but is against legalistic ones like mormons, JWs, 7th day Adventists, etc.
