Again, as with numerous other articles, its not getting me to run back to a kingdom hall. They are so far from the original concept of following christ its almost too obvious and easy to refute this article to any JW. Just because a group of lazy old men sitting in a penthouse in brooklyn tell me to attend 5 mtgs per week, spend my hard earned dollars traveling to conventions, and sitting for endless useless hours in a kingdom hall.

What to say about the magazines. June 2007 (Evil,Money&Creator)
by LtCmd.Lore inafter the recent thread about keeping control of the question when talking to dubs, i decided to try something.
i'm gonna type up the sudgested presentations for this months magazines and books, then i'm going to give my reccomendations on what to say.. this month it's the awake on money which there are two presentations for, the watchtower on evil, and another watchtower about morals.
then the books are the family happiness book, and the is there a creator who cares book.

Of course your points are valid. However, the JW at your door will most likely 1) leave, 2) stay at your door all day to count time, or 3) try and get you into a bible study, where two people can count a lot of time with you in addition to numerous return visits which will make them look great in the kingdom hall. My suggestion is to not answer the door in the first place. Let them count their time elsewhere.

You know meeting attendance is bad when...
by lola28 infour congregations need to merge into two just to get some decent numbers.
a sister from my old hall called me a few weeks ago to let me know that the congregation was moving to another hall.
when i asked why they needed to move she said it was due to the fact that meeting attendance had diminished a lot in the past two years.

Sort of the opposite happened in my area. The wealthy JWs got tired of working the territories of low income people. So they split from two congregatons to three. The numbers did not justify the split. Now the wealthy JWs driving their corvettes no longer have to feel guilty mixing with the JWs of little means who are struggling to support their children and struggling even getting to the mtgs in the first place.

This article makes it obvious how much the GB has gone "beyond what is written" in scripture. What scriptural basis is there to even show that "annointed elders" would even exist in modern times? Their world is crumbling. The GB who are supposd to be annointed are dying (literally). How many can claim to be newly annointed to replace the GB? How long til the rank and file catch on that this arrangement of endless rules of a cult society has "had its day" and its over? The GB and "faithful and discreet slave" are being revealed for not knowing anything found in scriptures that relates to our modern day. They have profoundly strayed from the scriptures and the teachings of Jesus, and there is no going back.

Commenting at Meetings: A Way Of Expressing Your Faith???
by R.F. inas we are told by the wt, commenting at the meetings is supposed to be a way of expressing your faith in the congregation.
i hardly felt this today during the wt study today or every meeting for that matter.
it seems more like this is the time when everyone wants to correct others or direct their comments in a way that it's condemnatory to others.

I always hated commenting and felt sick and childish when doing so. The posts here kind of opened my eyes to the fact that I guess it was to prove to the congregation that we believe the WA statements, that we are "one of them" and "please don't label me as weak". I do think it is a cult atmosphere, a way of marking, shunning, and eventually getting rid of those that refuse to parot the statements in the literature. When Jesus preached to crowds did he demand they parot back his own words?

I wish more and more people in each KH would start their fade sending a message to the GB that we are not putting up with the endless rules and regulations, and the endless distribution of books from the bethel publishing company.
They have gotten so far off the mark from teaching directly from the Bible, its so obvious now. My mtg attendance and service dwindled to nothing. Whenever I got an occasional call from an elder, I would tell them I've been out of town, both with my job and family back East. Finally, the calls stopped.
Its hard with a family member trying to convey how pointless their devotion is to 5 mtgs per week, giving talks on different topics, unrelated to each other, or jumping around in history, walking for hrs door to door trying to get literature (not the Bible) into people's hands that don't want to be disturbed.
JWs have their own agenda. Pushing their own books and asking for money so the bethelites can enjoy free room, board, meals, maid service, and travel in Manhattan and around the globe.

what interesting points: cross, christmas, pyramid.
q12, 13) what scriptural reasons are there for showing respect for the slave class?.

I'm enjoying reading the posts here, they are all so good. Thanks to Blondie for leading the way.
I think JWs should know a few posts - This is a hybrid religion - and in 1918 it was simply the battle over a new religion - This is what I am trying to slowly convey to my JW family members. This is a religious corporation formed by Rutherford (wasn't he the one doing away with xmas, birthdays?), and he based it upon the mosiac law and puritan/pilgram times when persons walked around with a bible in their hands, shunning adulterers and demons.
Providing food at the proper time is more evident among the "worldly" churches, who have formed missions, schools, medical facilities, taught English, taught the Bible, on a global scale. The JWs have shunned the world and hide in their homes except to sell books from their publishing company.

My two cents - does this WT article even mention the role of the President of the society? They try and paint a picture of a group of wise annointed men running everything, when isn't it the President running the show, and the head of the writing dept determining what's in the WA articles??
Yes, if it wasn't for the GB confusing bible texts, throwing a wrench in your beliefs, what would we do? That's my view. Confusing the use of Jeh name in bible times, picking dates for the "end", confusing ancient customs on diet, attending festivals, some things were OK like xmas, then was considered pagan, etc
I think ALL their books say the preaching will end in "this 20th century", now was that from the GB, the faithful and discreet slave?? NO mention of that small point in this article? That, uh, they have a long track record of being wrong about our modern times?

ALERT: All Child Abuse Lawsuits have been settled. Millions cashed out???
by What-A-Coincidence inre: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/116108/1.ashx.
a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.
i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

i think GaryBuss hit the nail on the head.
The reality is, the elders would have said "hey we were following society rules" and run to the press. The society had to settle because it is, in fact, their policy to protect the molesters, not the victims.
From my JW family point of view, this was an attack by satan, and they avoided it by silencing all parties and paying up.
I think it wouldn't matter if this became public. It would not open the eyes of the blind JW followers anyway. Reality has gone from them they are mindless drones.

I agree BizzyBee. But I had to come to that conclusion after many yrs of slavery to the JWs.
I remember JW literature, they think pursuing a career, higher education is "making a name for yourself" and egotistical, pursuing materialism?? It just makes me so angry. Its called living your life. Making a way for yourself, yes, maybe even enjoying life.
No where in the bible does it say we have to live in poverty, uneducated, walking endlessly door to door. Jesus only went from town to town once in his life. Did he say to continually go back to the same doors forever? NO. However, the Borg is a publishing company. So we have to continually sell their mags door to door throughout eternity. No bookstores for them! Walk door to door and force it on people. I might be getting off topic here - but I am angry over the Borg policies that have destroyed my life.
