Mine was the same as DannyBloem's. I had doubts all my life, but was a very faithful Witness.
But the impossibility of the flood really started getting to me as an adult and that was the first real seed of doubt.

What planted the seed of doubt that lead you to leave or think of leaving?
by NanaR ini've been thinking of this a lot lately.
the following experience ties my first doubt in with my present life.
as a backdrop to this, you should know that i was a 5th generation "raised in the truth" jw through my mother (her great-grandfather got "the truth" from pastor russell).

I met (and accidentally bodily tackled to the ground) Fred Franz.
I know and have gone out in service with Guy Pierce (though I doubt he remembers me.) -

list allowable things with "pagan" origins here
by rebel8 ini'm interested in developing a list of things jws are allowed to do that have "pagan" or otherwise "evil" origins in the eyes of the wts.
what types of things are you aware of?
so far i've got...... red lip stick (allegedly invented to distinguish prostitutes from non-prostitutes).

For this thread to be effective and meaningful, anyone posting should post proof that the pagan thing they're posting is actually pagan. A link to a wikipedia page or other independent research posted online, or even to a book, would be helpful.

JW's give advice on how to get rid of apostate literature
by unbeliever ini know we have had threads on this board about getting rid of jw literature.
they make a lot of the same suggestions, throw it away, use it as liner for the pets, etc but some of their suggestions are down right hilarious.
one poster said the literature should be dipped in acid and one poster said she wipes her dogs butt with apostate literature.. http://ewatchman-exposed.co.uk/research/read.php?t=2196&reply=13#msg13.

unbeliever, yeah, I've followed the Mavos thing. They really have it in for him.
What's ironic is that everyone on that board just WORSHIPS 3w. They love him: every post he makes is followed by many "GREAT POST 3w!" type responses. He accuses e-Watchman of starting a cult, but make no mistake: 3w has a whole cadre of followers, and it's obvious what his motivation for posting there is. -

Would Jehovah recognize you

This was told at a special assembly day in my circuit. To quote Shrek: "What a load of..." *flushing sound*
I don't think I need to break it down for anyone: its manipulative, controlling nature, its use of logical fallacy, and its complete nullification of everything Jesus is ever f___ing recorded to have said while he walked the earth should be obvious to anyone who has the eyes to see it. -

Did demons ever really rape some sisters?
by hambeak ini had a conversation last night with someone and we were reminescing about the late 60's and early 70's about how a couple of the sisters were telling at the time that they were being molested and sometimes raped by demons.
in our cong they were told to open the bible to a certain scripture and leave the bible open to it at all times and leave a light on.
anyone else remember some of this paranoia?

I don't know where to start with this one.
So I won't, except to say: No. Demons did not rape some sisters. -

I love reading EWE. It mostly functions as a platform for thirdwitness to blather about random topics and judge his fellow Witness posters (PLEASE EXAMINE WHERE YOU ARE HEADED! he remonstrates one unfortunate person who dared to think for himself) but there is also a wealth of retarded JW thinking.
Thirdwitness also enjoys finding threads on here (he still lurks) and reposting them there. Minimus' recent thread asking people if they believed in God or the Bible is an example. That thread made EWE's constituency go into an orgasm of smug self-satisfaction. -

Rock The Vote: my secret is discovered
by under_believer ina while back, i registered to vote.
i even voted in our primary (nonpartisan issues only at this point--i'm still finding my "center.
at the time, my wife asked me if all this voting stuff we were getting all of a sudden was some new thing the state was doing--maybe you just get enrolled to vote when your drivers license renews, or something.

Kudra, it's Hugo Weaving playing Agent Smith from The Matrix. I kinda miss Aang, though. I might bring him back. He was happier. This guy reflects my current state of mind so well, though.

Warlock, that QfR is what my wife and I found a while back, what made us decide it was nominally a "conscience matter." However as others have pointed out it's understood that this is a concession for Witnesses in mandatory-vote nations. At the very least, other Witnesses would take a very dim view of us if they knew we were voting. I personally think (depending on the BoE, and we have a very conservative BoE) we'd be marked.
Based on that QfR, I doubt we'd be DF'ed or be considered DA, but anything is possible.
Trust me, there isn't a sudden organization-wide acceptance of voting.
