When a jw has a major fall out within the congregation...
by Check_Your_Premises in.... how often does it lead to an eventual exit?.
i know some real nice, joined as adult jw's who have had a major fallout with their cong.. they are model, idealistic jw's.
but politics between these folks and an elder led to him being summarily stripped of his "privileges".

My life was made hell by one particular elder who told wicked lies about me, and the rest of the BOE backed him up. I'm not going into detail at this stage, but I eventually resigned as a ms. This was the final straw with this organisation, about a month before I left, the elders realised that it wasn't true, but this idiot is still an elder to this day.

Gill, I would have been like you extremely mad. The cheek he had getting his car fixed by hubby after shunning you both. I would have gave him a mouthful. But in saying that, I learnt something today. Your hubby heaped fiery coals on their heads by being courteous. If I find myself in the same situation, I'm going to do the same.

At least twice a year, the local needs in my first congregation was always about gossip. The sisters in that hall were the most vicious bunch of vipers I ever came across. Although I thought the elders were a pain in the neck, they were constantly pulling their hair out because of the problem. I was a source of gossip about ten years ago, because being a single ms, a lot of lonely desperate sisters viewed me as a catch. One particular unbaptised sister spread the rumour that me and her were courting which wasn't true, and would try to grab my attention at every meeting. Well the sisters had a field day, fortunately the elders put a stop to by having a local needs talk. This sister wasn't allowed to get baptised for a year. And the congregation wonders why those that move never want to visit.

***********Jesus didn't just teach - he fed people, healed people, cared for them. And he did it for all types - regardless of whether they followed him or not.************
Dawn you're spot on. Before Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mount. He did these things BEFORE, he started teaching the crowds. I witness a horrible traffic accident on my way to take field service arrangement. I didn't turn up, as I was helping as much as I can, being a qualified first aider. I was told off by the field service overseer for neglecting my duties, as a sister had to take the arrangement. To me helping out was more important than knocking on someones door, who may never have been in during the day anyway. Since then, I returned to contributing by direct debit, to a few charities I strongly believed in before I became a dud. Now that I'm out. I always give food parcels to the local Salvation Army. The wts always quote Acts 20:35 "......There's more happiness in giving than there is in receiving" Yes I more happier now helping my fellow man in need, than preaching to receive a pat on my back.

'The Best is Yet to Come!!'
by Gill in.
do you remember this phrase from the watchtower society that was heavily bandied about during the late 1980's and 1990's, i think??.
what was it meant to really mean?
-
Ironhead
I remember it used in the early 90s. From about 95 onwards I never heard it mentioned.
