Dealing with Being DF'd

i haven't posted much here but i feel like i need some support right now.

i did post my story, but basically i'm 27, married for 7 years and i was df'd in july.

i always knew i didn't want to be a jw but went along with everything because of fear.

I don't believe it's the true religion and I'm out to show my kids there's something more to life. I will never go back, especially not for people but I need to know that i won't feel like this forever.

Yes it will get better, I promise.

I look back on my old life and I cannot believe how I survived, and leaving was so scary I did not think i would make it.

But I did and it was the best thing I have ever done.

I now have a better life, my children have better lives.

It is hard at first, but it's just growing pains, it's normal....................... and worth it!

How did they know if someone was Circumcised?

so as not to hijack the current "paul" thread, i'll comment here.

paul spoke about circumcision numerous times and even circumcised timothy.. not to make light of the topic, but i have always wondered, how did anyone know if someone else was circumcised???

i have been a jw my entire life and will honestly tell you that i don't know which brothers are circumcised and which are not.. i mean, did guys back then watch each other at the urinals or peek in the windows when someone was getting dressed?

What would happen to a JW woman if she did this?

if you were a jw woman, and you exposed your elder husband as a cheater, what would happen to you?

would the congregation take it against you?

what would happen to your standing in the congregation?

You have to remember that JW's like to believe that worldly people are immoral but JW's are not.

They would rather believe that the accuser is lying then believe that a member is an adulterer or a child molester.

And so an accuser is always taking a huge risk.

A fatherless underage teen boy in my old hall told the BOE that the elder who was studying with him was also trying to have sex with him. Well the other elders just brushed him off and then couldn't wait to get home to tell there families this outrages tale. The story spread like wildfire in the congo and no one took the boy seriously, he just got laughed at.

I don't know what happened to the boy, I hope he is OUT of the borg. But years later, the congo was shocked to find out that the cops had come to elder molesters house and drug him away in cuffs because of the accusations of other young boys.

The New Agnostic Self

The JW's train you to wait until the future to start living.

But all you have is now, nothing else exists.

remember reading at the book study once, think it was the evolution book, and miss read organism as orgasm.

it all went quiet nobody said anything and all continued.my future wife was there and her mother which made it worse, i even mis read it again in the next paragraph.i felt terrible and coulnt look up.laugh about it now of course..

I once knew an elder who didn't know the difference between a combine and a concubine.

He gave an hour talk thats main illustration involved a farmer harvesting wheat.

He kept referring to the farmer as "climbing off' or "climbing on" his "concubine".

I've never seen so many people stifle laughter for such a long period of time.

SO I guess meetings were fun every once in a while....

Basically, you have a choice.

Use secular sources, which were revised, or the Bible.

You cannot come up with any dates using the bible alone, the bible has no dates, you must use secular sources to find a starting point and then you can use the bible to head in any direction you choose to.

Or you can just stick with using secular sources,

But the bible alone has no dates.

How old was Mary when she got pregnent with Jesus?

according to mak 6v 3 jesus had 4 brothers and also sisters.. mary was a virgin when she got pregnent with jesus.

she must have been very young.

her husband joseph was a carpenter and carpenters were due to the nature of their profession away from home for long periods .. so what is my point.

I never could understand the importance of a virgin birth, I mean, lots of girls who are pregnant claim to be virgins.

So when Mary claims to be a virgin everyone just says "OK, WOW, this must be gods son couse that girl is a virgin", and everyone just took her word for it?

There was no way for her to prove it, so claiming it meant nothing in my opinnion, just another scared girl trying to get out of trouble.

He created them so they could eat down the vegetation, (apparently Jah went overboard when he created green stuff) and make some room so he could create humans.

I noticed at the meeting that JW's are very negative

That is the sign of a dead congregation; that's happened to me .

I moved to a new and vibrant congregation- and all has changed for the Better!

I'm talking about what they print in the literature.

The society is negative about everything but themselves!

How do I help my kids not buy into the JW thing?

but i'm married to a jw lady who is very dedicated to it all.

I think kids who are given choices, most of them will choose freedom of thought, mind and action over the oppressive and repressive regiment of the strict JW lifestyle.

I agree with undercover.

You cannot be complacent, you must give your children choices.

Kids are smart, they can detect bullshit if they are taught logical thought. But if all their taught is bullshit, then they will never know it's bullshit, because they are constantly being told that it is not bullshit.

If you teach them self esteem and rational thought, they will see the bs for what it is.
