  Does anyone get scared?

  does anyone who has left the organisation ever get scared at current world events and what they seem to be leading to?

  more and more the governments are getting fed up with religion, there is now more than even a call "for" peace rather than "of" peace and security.

  bin laden and his extremist religious views would give rise to the thought that governments will in the future be intent on eradicating religion altogether due to the trouble it causes.

  you know -

  you'd be disfellowshipped right away if you went to my hall or any of the other neighboring halls. you either are (a) lying about your elders knowing what you do or (b) have an extremely liberal congregation - your hall (if what you say is true) is the exception, not the rule.

  the best: as a group they're relatively color-blind (low to no incidence of racism among them ).. the worst: their stubborn refusal to see the good in anyone but themselves!.

  anyone who has been to a meeting in western PA (KKK land) knows that this is not the case. the JW's there are so racist that I said something to a few of them. JWs are NOT colorblind. thats a myth.

  i emailed a girl I used to be friends with a few years back - a girl i saw "interview w/ the vampire" with and here is her response (closer, i'm sure you know this girl):

  hmm.. well, i think x-files is demonic to a point, so i'm probly not a good
  person to ask... my motto is "if in doubt, do without"

  i'm not really into that harry potter stuff... but it does deal w/sorcery..
  and we are supposed to have nothing to do w/that stuff.. right?

  (3) learned what the terms "asshole" and "bitch" meant in the truest sense of the terms, usually applying the former to certain elders and the latter to certain pioneer sisters

  the view here in suburban Philadelphia, from what i've heard active JW's say, is that Harry Potter is demonic but The Lord of The Rings is ok. which doesn't make any sense, especially if you've read the hobbit, fellowship of the ring, the two towers, and the return of the king by Tolkien. I mean, the dark lord Sauron is basically a Satan type character. drives me nuts. I'll be seeing both movies though - they both look incredible.

  if you have an unusual baptismal/ dedication story, tell us.. best story wins a non-prize.. heres mine.. well...when i was about all of 16 years old my father was a ministerial servant and he told us one evening that his name had.

  happy, after all he was a man who loved power and authority.. a couple of weeks later he was down in the dumps, appeared some.

  no big story here, but a little background:

  my mom found a bag of pot in my dresser in october, 1992. I was removed as a publisher and somehow the entire congregation knew that i was "bad news" (i was 15 years old, for crying out loud). so i figured i'd better get spiritual really fast and once I was allowed to answer and go out in service i progessed towards baptism. exactly one year later in october, 1993 i took the plunge. oddly enough, the two other people in my congregation to get baptized w/ me - the first one is a drug addict and is divorced - he's only 10 months older than me - and the other is in jail (although he was reinstated from jail) because he set his girlfriend on fire in a drunken rage. very very strange.

  i liked how you broke down the WTS's letter down point by point. there is really no justification for what they've done (according to their own publications) and they know it. this situation will not go away - we won't let it. nice job.
