an old friend of the family stopped by my house last night.
i had not seen him for about two years.
he was disfellowhispped about 3 or 4 years ago, but would drop in every now and ask me business related questions.
i can totally relate. I tiptoe around EVERYONE i know except for
my wife, our best friend, and badwillie and wife. thats why i'm moving 2800 miles away...i'm slowly going insane. oh well.

a couple of months ago i was addicted to this board when the whole un thing was going on.
i really thought that the exposure of the wts's involvement would open the door for me to walk away from the wt without reprucussions, you know, a valid excuse so as to not be shunned.
(a pipe dream, i know) .
i thought the UN thing would be a really big deal - especially to some of my "lukewarm" friends. The one girl instantly started thinking up excuses for the WTS. It is very hard to get any points across to people who don't want to see it. I'm not disappointed though - at least I know the truth.

i have seen the term 'unconditional love' used often in reference to jws.
now, i understand the import: they love someone only on the condition that someone remains a jw "in good standing.
however, the term 'unconditional love' is proferred in a positive light.
my wife and I have this, but as for anyone else involved with my life, i'm not really sure....yet.

well, i'm still an active JW as of today, and I sincerely doubt I'll be affiliated w/ any organized religion once I leave. I have a really hard time accepting Paul's sexist writings, and I also question many things that are written in the bible. I'm not bent on the Watchtowers destruction, but I'd really like my friends and family to see that its just another religion - not the "truth". I try not to be bitter about things, but sometimes I cannot help myself.

there is something that has always puzzled both of us.
the only "marking" that I know about happened to a guy that I grew up with. He sort of slept with a married girl but wouldn't admit it to the elder body, although there was circumstancial evidence. The way it was explained off of the stage was that he was bad news for now and then he'd be invited out socially or something and then it'd be ok. I also thought the society did this so as to avoid lawsuits, because if they df'd somebody w/out the person admitting to anything, they'd be f**ked. I could be wrong though. One thing I am certain of, however, is that this practice is not in the bible and was invented by the Watchtower Society.

this seems to be an example of "witness folklore," meaning that although there may some sort of basis for this experience, some of the facts seem highly exaggerated. i've heard different versions of this experience over the last 22 years. maybe the interested family would like to take a field trip to northern pittsburgh to look at russells grave? that'd be neato.

i'm leaving the JW's in 3 months.....i doubt I'll do anything like this. Do you guys blame the JW's for everything that goes wrong w/ your life? christ, thats pathetic. it occured to me that the wt are always saying the importance of telling the truth in all matters, yet their un membership of the dpi constituted a blatant lie to the same body as well as to their members.. for an organisation that prides itself on telling the truth, and how it really is, recently, that is, one could say that they have not exactly a very clean, perfect slate.
how are they / can they live with this, as this action on their behalf violates their very own pillars of structure?
