why i stopped apologising for the watchtower society - part 1. .
in response to requests for information on why i stopped being an apologist for the organisation, i have decided to write the following article.
what is written is not meant to attack the beliefs of jws, but rather to show why i personally came to the conclusion that i could no longer support the organisation.
Great experience, Gumb! So similar on several levels to my own experience.

when i lived farther up country..i had a car load of dub ladys come to the ranch..i told them they supported an organization that would kill everyone but jw`s.thats what i was taught when i was a kid..they said "no",that decision will be made at armageddon..??
?..i figuered "theocratic warefare stratagey"..they were lying to me!.....i talked to my mom a few years later and made the same comment..she said "no,that decision will be made at armageddon.??
?.this is the person that taught that doctrine to me.i just rolled my eyes.more "theocratic warefare stratagey".that woman woud lie in a heart beat for the wbt$.....yesterday the subject came up on a thread and hillary_step said the comment is true.....hillary and i have been friends for years,he totally blew me away..i could`nt believe what i was reading..he said the change had been made in the "90`s".....so now i have some questions for those who are more up to date on this subject than i..hillary_step,if your kick`n around please chime in.......#1:when did the wbt$ decied to quit preaching only the jw`s would get into the new system?..#2if you no longer need to be a jw to get into the new system, why bother?..#3:dieing at armageddon because your not a jw,was a gun to your head to join the jw`s.what do they use now?.....this isn`t the same religion i walked away from decades ago..this,the un scandel, the generation change, blood factions now acceptable..the wbt$ is morphing before our eyes and jw`s dont see it..lol!
Just another example of witnoid doublespeak.
Restrangled, your criteria is basically correct, just don't forget that no "faithful" witness is guaranteed anything either.

religion knows how the watchtower society views fallen angels.. .
they view individuals who leave the truth as weak malcontents that share no appreciation for god or spiritual matters.
Good topic, Wanderer.
Many people who leave, don't necessarily leave because of doctrinal issues, or because they want to live "immoral" lives, (like myself). They just come to a point in thier lives, where they strongly sense something is amiss in the organization, and just stop. Too many issues, and very little seems to make any sense. When one comes to that division in the road, it is quite possible that he/she may find themselves doing things that they otherwise wouldn't have done, when "in". Those in this category often come to point after a short while when they want answers. I know that is what happened to me, and I ended up finding this place. Only then did I learn of the doctrinal issues, child molestation issues, etc. What I learned rather quickly, was that I wasn't crazy, and there really was something very wrong in the org.

just recieved a e-mail from a active jw friend.
my mom was talking to a friend from bethal and they were talking about the number of the 144,000 that are left(..... and i talked briefly about this)and how they feel that there are actually less then 800and remember .....i said there had been a talk or something on it?
well i guess it was a wt article that we studied(well i knew i had heard it somewhere!
I'm wondering if that 800 was actually a typo that became misinformation passed on, considering that the number usually hovers right around 8000.
That's how it immdiately struck me.

My last cong: Definately shrinking.
My previous cong: Was in a largely Spanish speaking area. The english cong .that I belonged to there did better than most in the circuit, but I believe it is even shrinking now. The Spanish congs. there are probably still growing.

if there was only one cd you could choose that helped you through the time you were fading from one set of choices to another, which one would it be?
just one now.. mine would be cheryl crow-wildflower.
of course there were others, but i limited this to just one.there are several songs on there that helped me express my feelings.. then, i also relistened to all my old music.
When I first started fading, "American Idiot" by Green Day just came out. Their best by far, and the anti-religious overtones of the record made for some damn good loud driving music!

an ex-jehovahs witnesses planted a seed of doubt by stating that she felt to be a good .
witness an individual had to be a conformist.
and if God wouldn't forgive all the ignorant masses out there
for never believing the message of these strange Jehovah's Witnesses that come to their door with nice printed
hand-outs?
I had that thought many times myself. Although, never actually had the conversation with anyone out in FS.

If we're coming to THEIR door to talk to them about OUR religion, why is it so horrible to return the favor to them? If they come to our hall (in actuality, usually doesn't happen) to see what we believe and having an open mind to see what we believe, how can we not do the same for theM?!
I often thought the same thing many times out in the FS. We always believed interfaith was wrong, but what if the householder held to the same standard? It just seemed so hypocritical.

when i started a study with jw's, i was always amazed that they had a logical answer to everything.. here are some simple logic flaws that i wish i caught before baptism.
first, their own bible says:.
(revelation 20:4-6) 4 and i saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them.
And I didn't even get to the logic flaws in the discussion of the animal kingdom.
Animals were supposedly herbivores before Adam and Eve's sins changed all that.
I might be mistaken on this, but, just for clarity, I always thought the WT taught that it was at the time of the flood that animals became carnivors. Either way, it's dead wrong, and one of those things I always questioned when I was a dub.

in 1930 more than 34,000 people professed to be of the anointed.
they did not believe themselves to be the faithful and discreet slave, as a class; they believed c.t.
russell had been and that j.f.
You know A.S., I know the GB may be somewhat of "captives of a concept", but the more I look back and read what they believe/used to believe I have to believe at some point they really are just telling lies knowingly. This stuff just sounds so rediculous reading it after being out for a year and a half. What a fairy tale.
