Except for rule #1, I think I'd be breaking every one ASAP just to ruffle his feathers. Maybe this is the list from Brother Pharisee?

Certaintly to underestimate such tie would be a serious folly, one I hope never to make. Are there other strong ties outside of the brainwashing, that hold those loyal to the organization?
If you don't care for the doctrine, you are there because of family or social ties. If you have none of these, you are gone. In fact, the family and social ties keep me in for the time being.

by nonamegiven inwell, i stumbled onto this site and decided, after reading a bit to post.. who am i?

LadyLiberty,
can you (or anyone else) please give me some examples for # 5???
BTW, thanks for your support all, I appreciate it.
Welcome to the other side, noname, and thanks for choosing JWD as your board! I am still in the congregation, but you know what? I am no longer mentally bound by the arbitrary rules of men. I am freed, and you can be too. I will hook you up with an example of misrepresentation. Here's one about the blood issue: ajwrb.org has a link to "Jehovah's Witnesses, Blood Transfusions, and the Tort of Misrepresentation." You can follow the link to get the .pdf file.

Any Comments on IE7?
by XJW4EVR ini am currently testing this new ie update.
i was wondering if any of you technoes either have or are currently using it?.
is it worth using, instead of firefox?.

IE7 is a huge step forward for IE. It is more secure and has more features (the biggest of which is tabbed browsing.) It's still weak on standards compliance. On memory usage really blows Firefox out of the water--Firefox is a big memory hog.
Yeah, I am a big FF fan but the memory leak is the only thing that bugs me. Firefox still pwns.

Do JW's really care if the literature they leave ends up in the garbage can
by JH injust like junk mail, i'm sure that jw literature, tracts or magazines ends up in the garbage can just as fast as any junk mail.
most witnesses must know this, but still they look at how many hours and placements they will add to their report.
what people do with the literature, most jw's know.. i recieved my tract yesterday, and it went in the garbage can in no time.. in a way, they create polution, knowing that most of their literature will end up in the trash..

Or maybe it ends up as ammo for throwing at other people! I remember, quite a long time ago, my sister, dad, and I went to my old grade school on the weekend to play on the grounds there. On the way to the field, we found trash strewn about near the dumpster. Among the litter was a Watchtower with a note: "Student was found throwing this around the classroom." At the time, the three of us lamented how sad it was that such Useful Literature was reduced to such a shameful use. Inwardly I thought it was pretty funny.

How did you get out of field service?
by return visitor ini had a boat that i always wanted to name "return visits" that way whenever i was asked why i wasn't in field service on saturday i could respond, "i went out on return visits" and nobody would be the wiser.
just wondering, did anyone else come up with a good way to dodge that question?.

If I ever indicated that I would be out that morning but didn't show up, the go-to reply was "family errand" and no one would bother me any further.

It probably still sucks. I'm using the IE Tab extension of Firefox with the Fasterfox extension too, so I get the formatting benefit of seeing this site in IE, but with the speed of regular FF.

Was I shunned?
by AudeSapere indid she really just shun me??.
after work today, i went to a restaurant to pick up some dinner.
as i walked to the counter i passed a woman who i knew along time ago.
-
SirNose586
Well, it was good that they at least had the courtesy to acknowledge your existence, like they wouldn't have done otherwise if you were really shunned. As for your observation that they were tired, I really don't know how you came to that conclusion!
How can you be sad and tired when False Religion's End is Near? Oh right, there exact nature of that nearness does change often...
But wait, how can you be sad and tired when Jehoover provides? Oh right, you didn't get an education when you were in school because your elders told you not to, and now you're stuck at a low-paying dead-end job.
But wait, how can you be sad and tired when the love of the congregation is so strong? Oh, right, apathy is spreading and the average attendance is down (heard it last Sunday). Congregations are being shutdown and repackaged to force high attendance numbers.
As you can see, this couple has every reason to be happy.

Elders forced to make an apology
by KAYTEE init all started with a kingdom ministry sheet directive, suggesting that good readers to be used to read the watchtower on the sunday.
the elders, in their wisdom, took off 10 brothers.
i reacted to this because the km said good readers not the best readers.
-
SirNose586
So they had a rotation of 10 brothers and they took off all 10 brothers? My goodness, did they all have Tourette's? Or did they all stutter constantly?
Sheer idiocy. And the guy who calls them out gets blamed, as usual. Somehow I don't think the guys running your hall have earned their triple honor yet...

Our fam is hooked on the stuff. I don't think my mom buys from a rep, but we do order things for our family and for our grandparents.
As for the quality, it's ok. I don't really care, we've just used it for so long....
