Hi Flower,
I saw it a while ago...close to a year ago, I think... When I mentioned it to my jw relatives they told me that I was a liar. I had pretty much the same reaction to it as you did.
i just finished watching martha stewart and after it went off there was a set of commercials before the news came on and i swear i just saw a commercial from the christian congregation of jehovahs' witnesses!.
it was about raising your children with knowledge and love.
it showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.. .
Hi Flower,

i am a jehovah?s witness that has had a lot of doubts the past 5 or 6 months.
i don?t know where to turn or what to do.
i have given my all to jehovah and am scared that if this is not the truth then where will i go.
Welcome What the....
I relate to your name! I understand your feelings as we all do or I should say we did at one time. I would like to know what changes have occurred in the past 6 months? It helps to talk about what is bothering you to people who understand and that would be us...! I once wondered where to go too and was very heavy hearted and frightened but I read Matt.11:28-30 and then, I knew where to go. Willy think told ya too. The "truth" that were given was error. Christ is the one and only Truth. It isn't easy leaving the jw teachings but you will be fed truth from above not from man. Hang on and pray and you will be just fine. You can pm me anytime to talk. love, dj
i am not sure when the 'apostafest' is happening in florida but if it is over the next few days remember that pat metheny is in town.

LOL @ Gumby. I think that you would know these artists if you were into a guitars. I think that most people don't know who they are. You aren't alone , you're just guitar illiterate!

an ancient tradition
by awake!
A main concern is, not what it meant hundreds of years ago, but how it is viewed today in your area . Understandably, opinions may vary from one place to another. Hence, it is wise to avoid turning such matters into big issues.
Good post. Maybe they are catching on to to the idea that most people aren't pagans just because they do something that a pagan once did. I remember an article similar to this about toasting drinks....it is now allowed..when I was growing up it wasn't. Wind chimes....yes, I gave a beatiful set to my parents and they dismantled them. That was the first time thatI was told how awful chimes are.
i was just thinking on this issue last night - why did god happen to guide me to a more accurate knowledge of the bible instead of the many other sincere people still in the congregation i used to associate.
what makes me so special as to warrant this blessing?
is a good education in bible doctrine the sole criterion for exiting the watchtower when there are many sincere ones who are not natural students who seem permanently trapped in the cycle of watchtower feeding.
I totally agree with Madman. I am curious as to whether or not any of you here have even noticed the large amt of people who are Christian have either left here for good or only come by now and then. Do you care? Madman stated exactly the reasons why. I do find it very sad because we do share a common painful past with you and we can understand each other better than anyone else. We have not given up on God but you have. That is your choice. I don't see the Christians demanding that the atheists believe. I have seen the atheists being extremely intolerant to the views of a Christian. I don't know how many of you have done this out of ignorance or purposefully. Why is it correct to be tolerant of all things and behaviors except those who believe in God? Isn't it a bit hypocritical to espouse the notion of tolerance to all things except those that you disagree with? I am not tolerant of many things but by the same token I never claimed to be tolerant. It is a pity that you can't see that when someone comes here and asks a question posed to Christians that you jump in with your assaults. Don't you get it?? You weren't asked.
To the poster..... I am sorry, I 've forgotten your name. I do remember your question though, amazingly. My answer to you......??????? Some stuff is just beyond us....I mean, look at who ELSE got out!!!! LOL Seriously though, I think that some just question things more and some just accept whatever they are taught. That could be a God given gift or it could just be human nature. I honestly haven't a clue...sorry. love, dj
i had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.
it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.
she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.
((((((((((((bebu))))))))) wonderful! It always surprises me when I think back to the time when my jw sister disagreed with me when I told her that love was the most important thing. She claimed that "one needs accurate knowledge not love". I will never forget that. We are supposed to worship in deed (love) and truth ( Jesus is the truth). I hope that one day your friend will come to see that for her own happiness. I know that you would be overjoyed too! Thanks for the story. love, dj
has the wt ever published anything in regards to proofs that "early christians" believed as they do.
i see it claimed countless times in the publications that "true christians" have existed from day one up to the current wt society but i've never seen any examples offered up.
to what do they refer to back up their claim?
Sorry about that link. I added an extra slash... here it is : www.ccel.org/fathers2 This site does not incluse those writings which are considered heretical by most Christians, even the jw's... There are some spurious writings by otherwise accepted writers but it is labeled as spurious. The site that Pete gave you has just about everything ever written by anyone whether it is spurious or not...phew...that is a lot....
.
having read the bible over and over again, how would you resume summarize what you read in the bible?
.
That Christ died for us and those who trust in Him have eternal life. He commanded that we treat others the way we want to be treated, even our enemies.

Hi Shiloh,
I know what you mean. Here is a site that has the writings of all of the early church fathers that the jw's have misquoted and twisted... www.ccel.org/fathers/2
.
if any elders or former elders have knowledge of any child molestation cases, or feel like you can contribute some background information on how the watchtower society handles or mishandles molestation cases, please get in touch with me.
naturally, all conversations will be kept strictly confidential.. alanf
