Having Bible studies to make you strong
by dobbie inhow many times in the religion were you offered a bible study to build yourself up again?i have been thinking about it and i think i must hold the current title for this cos apart from the first study which brought me in i have had at least seven others!everytime i got 'weak' i'd be offered yet another study with some sister to help me - and one is trying to get me to have another one but i've had 2 with her b4!
!personally i think that with all these studies under my belt i don't think another one is going to help me much do you!

Heard at last Sunday talk...
by Justice-One ini almost had to sneeze and scream bullshit when i heard this.
the brother giving the talk said that the society has never made a prediction about when the end would come.
he said people just read what the society published, and added their own thoughts to it!!!

This is what i have always been told about 1975 so it was a real shocker for me when i read r franz' book, and looked up the watchtower magazines that actually mention that year and how everyone should look to it for something big to happen - it was suddenly all clear to me but before i admit i just went along with what i was told as i thought jws were a trustworthy lot, but i can't get my head round the fact that ones that were around at that period of time and read the preceeding magazines and the shifting of blame afterwards etc, not only stayed as witnesses but deny that the GB ever pointed to that year in the first place!

The JW phrase I most despise is...
by exwitless in"need greaters" ugh!!
i hate that phrase and i always have.
we knew a jw couple who applied every year to bethel and giliad until the age cut-off (age 35 or 40?).

Seeker that's so sad i'm really sorry, when terrible things like this happen it really makes you realize how dear life is and how we need to live it as best we can while we can.X

Name that tune!!
by megsmomma ini was thinking of some jw lyrics that are so funny!
if you write it in "plain english" and show the mind control in them...do you think you can name it??.
here is an example....feel free to play!.

JW attending funerals in Catholic church
by wordlywife injust wondering, my jw husband attended a funeral at a catholic church with me, and i thought perhaps this was frowned upon?
have any of you former jw's ever gone to any service in a church before?
it totally shocked me that he went with me.. thanks-.

I've been to non jw services but was told its ok so long as you don't participate in the hymns etc (which must have made me look a completely insensitive cow!), my elder f-in-l was asked to participate in a non jw funeral, i think he had been studying, but he told the family he would'nt as it would be 'interfaith'

Fading: A Little Craziness Helps
by metatron inas you may know, i am a zealous advocate of using depression as a means of fading out of the organization.. let me add that a hint of craziness or mental illness can work wonders, too.
instead of shunning you, your witness.
relatives and "friends" may make quite an allowance for you, if you just keep your mouth shut about deep apostasy.. they may just feel sorry for you and leave you alone- at least, that's largely my experience.. remember that movie that said "love means never having to say you're sorry"?

I think the jws are wary of people who they don't see as 'normal'(whatever that is) i battled in the early witness days with depression, codeine addiction, harming etc and no one offered to help me during that period, not even my husband. Instead they labelled me as 'mentally unstable' and left me well alone. So i can definately agree that if they think you have problems of that sort, the majority shy away from you.Come to think of it though i must have been a little 'crazy' to join them in the first place!
