Happy are those who are shunned!
by Gill inhappy are the shunned, since they will have peace and quiet!!!
truer words were never spoken.. for all of you who understandably miss your family, just think of the troubles those of us have to endure when some of our jw family refuse to shun us and make it their lifes work to 'encourage' your return to the cult with threats of imminent death by their ever loving god!.
my mother!

Yes my family aren't jws but my husbands are and i was finding it really hard being shunned, the dr even offered counselling i was in such a state about it, losing friends and feeling like dirt when they ignored me.But last week we stopped off at the shops before taking the kids out for the day and my hubby found himself in front of an elder in the queue, who proceeded to lecture him the whole time, ended up saying ' i don't know how your poor mother copes' etc which ruined the day for him.Even while we were at the place we went to another one rang him up hassling him about the memorial that night!I suddenly realised how fortunate i am, because while he still has to put up with the petty comments and shakes when he sees them out on the doors etc, i don't have to worry about it anymore as they won't approach me.So yes i am quite relieved that i'm shunned now, especially as it makes me extra sure that i will never get involved with it again, as i the shunning is the cruellest thing ever. The only problem i have is that my son is in class with his jw cousin and other jws so i can't separate him away from it like i would wish, hes only 4yrs but does come home about things they've said about meetings, prayers etc.
I just can't believe i stayed in it as long as idid and did certain things just because i was scared of them, as soon as i left i realised the reality isn't as bad as what i always imagined it would be for me personally. Anyway what i do is, if they shun me i do it back, a jw smiled at me the other day(though most hang their heads down!) and so i smiled back.If my sis in law deigns to speak if no other jws are about, i'll speak back, if i'm invisible to her that day, so is she. I'm not worried about hubbys step dad and mother cos they've never been there for him or my kids, and there's no way my boys are going round there. Also. although i on't really mention any of this to people who aren't jws, my husband does and people can't believe ex jws get treated this way so in a way its another reason to be glad i'm shunned because it puts ordinary people off the religion totally- yippee!

Strange days
by New Worldly Translation ini haven't had chance to post on jwd recently but reading some posts the last few months it seems that many friends on the board are going through rough times because of the jehovah`s witness cult.
my heart goes out to them and hope everything turns out well especially those who have been rejected by spouses, children and family or maybe have the prospect of being shunned if they act according to their conscience.
i don't know what`s going on at the meetings as i haven't set foot in one for 4 years but it seems jw's are being whipped up into another armageddon frenzy and are therefore putting pressure on ex-jw's to rejoin.

Massive increase in baptisms
by Zico ini had my special assembly day last saturday, i missed this part as i was on a walk, but my family told me about it, and i've confirmed it with 2 other witnesses.
in one of his talks, our 'special' speaker, who is also a do, said: 'baptisms this service year have already exceeded baptisms for the whole of last year, and that's before the conventions!
' obviously this can't be verified until the figures are released next year, and it wasn't clear whether he meant worldwide or just britain, but either way it's concerning, and i would guess that the 'bible teach' book has been very effective.

I Figured Out The Easiest Way To Expose Jehovah's Witnesses!!!!
by minimus injust say the truth.
don't embellish.
just give the facts to people.....for example, tell people that jws don't think it's wrong to actually lie if they believe that telling the truth to a person could hurt them.

Yep thats the way i tell people things now. I always mention the birthday thing and the children being killed at Armageddon seems to shock people. Also the fact that so many things they say are wrong are pagan, yet they wear wedding rings etc. Also the 'theocratic war strategy' , and the two witness rule.

"Public Talks" and "Committee Meetings"!!
by Kudra inarrrgh.-- in a funny way... .
i just got an email from the department secretary announcing a "very special public talk" (by this visiting scholar etc) that will be tomorrow here at school- .
stuff like this is funny to me cause so many of the same expressions that the dubs use are used in school here... it used to creep me out but now i kinda revel in using as many of those expressions as possible cause it is a kick in the pants...!

'governing body', when my son started school they put out a letter about school governors and i asked jw sis in l to second him for the position but she refused as it sounded too political and she didn't think it was something she should get involved with - crap, all he does is discuss the curriculum, not like hes running for prime minister or anything!Anyway when i saw governing body mentioned it made me think of jws.

They stopped doing food the year i 'joined up' so it was always warm soggy sandwiches for me.At Plymouth conventions there was always a fleet if ice cream drinks chip vans etc outside, but we were always counselled not to use them as it wouldn't give the right image, the last year i did though and wished i had all the other years i was there! On a cold day a box of chips and a hot cup of tea was bliss!
