Welcome dreamer dude.
Good to hear the tight pants Tony rant woke you up, there was a lot of speculation at the time that it would have that effect.
Good luck on waking your wife, it is possible, though no easy thing.

i am a male, born into the jw cult(ure), baptized as a teen, now mid fifties.
most of my life i dreamed of hugging pandas and lions, punctuated at times by nightmares of armageddon or jw drama and politics.
still going through the motions for still-in wife.

my son asked me 40 years ago.
should we be glad adam sinned?
because if he hadn't, we would not be the person we are.. any opinions?
There are a million variables that resulted in each of us becoming who we are, change any of them and you wouldn't be you, you might not exist at all, we are all just accidents really. There is even a term for the idea that minor changes can result in a chain of events that can cause big impacts, the Butterfly Effect.
I don't believe in Adam and Eve, but by mapping the human genome we know that humans carry some Neanderthal DNA. We may all have increased immunity from the Neanderthals, but also may have inherited some genetic defects. So the question could be, what would we be like if we had no Neanderthal DNA? Would we be better off or worse off? Maybe if we didn't have that Neanderthal DNA the Spanish Influenza of 1918 would have wiped out the entire population of the earth, not just a good chunk of it.
Impossible to say, but interesting to think about.
they said we are all the same in god’s eyes.
that everyone is equal.
to prove this they call everyone “brother and sister.” sadly, this really isn’t the case.
I remember arriving early to the memorial only to be told that I could not park in the lot, they were "saving it for new people and visitors". It was puzzling because it was a really big lot, how many visitors could there be? I was by myself and had to walk in the dark back to my car afrerwards carrying a sleeping toddler, I slipped and fell, hurting my knee. I noticed as I was leaving that many elders had parked in the lot.
I guess some people are more equal than others.
for those of us who are hillary and bernie fans, which is the better outcome - to have donald trump as the republican's nomination whose unpopular with most americans?
or are we better off watching the chaos of a contested convention and the party eventually putting up someone weak like john kasic or jeb bush?
so the big a comes, your third in line to be judged by jesus.
he wants to know why you left the organisation.
he also wants to know why jws remained with the org.
I would say that they lied about their history, predicted the end of the world several times in error and covered up child sex abuse, therefore I could not in good conscience be a part of it.
i think i have a unique involvement with jws.
i'm not a baptized member.
my mother has been devout for over 20 years.
All religions have some crazy people in them, but I truly think the JWs are worse than most. It's an extreme religion, and it doesn't seem to bring out the best in people. If you join it will only get worse for you because you will be in a group of people like that. There are much better religions out there if you feel you must belong to a religion. It sounds like you have good values in your own.
His parents sound like loons, how sad for you all. Limit your association with them set firm boundaries and stick to them.
i think he is, but i"m not too sure.
just wondering because looking at that purple pimp outfit with hat that he wore to prince's memorial, i wonder if he ever gave a talk wearing the same outfit, when i've read here that some brothers were talked to for wearing a pastel colored shirt while giving a talk..
earlier i posted about my loveless marriage.
i was baptized at a very young age, and during that time period i was having sex.yes i made a dedication knowing i was still practicing fornication.
i had raging hormones since my youth.
The problem is not with you, but with a backwards religion that would not allow you to be who you are. Think about this, would a God of love create you with a sex drive that could not be satisfied by a woman, then expect you to only marry a woman? Why would he do that? Why would you be expected to bear a burden that heterosexual people do not have to bear? You know this is not some choice you made, because why would you choose to be gay as a JW? This is not some weakness, it's just who you are, you didn't choose it any more than you chose the color of your eyes. You know in your heart of hearts that this is true, so allow yourself to accept it and what it means that any religion that would tell you different.
For your own sanity please research the Watchtower, there are many things they have lied about, history they have covered up. They are not what they claim, never were and couldn't be God's sole channel of communication with mankind. Free yourself and stop living with the guilt.
I am not gay, but I stayed for twenty eight years in a horrible marriage, because like you I thought I had to do it to please God. I became severely depressed and ruined my health trying to please that very demanding God. It was for nothing, I finally realized that I put this burden on myself, that the Watchtower was just some men who thought they spoke for God but they were no more right than any other religion, less maybe. Just like that I was free, I walked away and have never been happier. I am married to my soul mate and the love of my life. You could have that too.
If you still want to belong to a church I suggest United Church of Christ, they are fully accepting of gay people. They have no doctrine, so you don't have to believe in trinity or hell fire if that is important to you. They usually have really great music too.
"it’s official: secretary of the treasury jack lew has announced that abolitionist harriet tubman will replace president andrew jackson on the $20 bill.
and, while jackson will still reportedly remain on the reverse side of the bill, the move is nonetheless a momentous one.. .
"naturally there are many people who will complain about this decision, but since tubman’s legacy leading slaves to freedom through the underground railroad is beyond reproach, these critics will most likely turn to defending jackson.
At a time when neither women nor people of color had any powet this woman did many great things. Harriet Tubman once had to lead some slaves to feeedom but had a sore tooth and feared it would become infected and prevent her from doing her job. She used her pistol to shoot out the tooth. She was a great woman, I don't see the problem with giving her this honor.
Not "political correctness", just the right thing to do.
i am a writer, who is at present working on a novel, and i am developing a character/characters who has/have been jehovahs witness(es), and i have some questions that i am hoping someone may be willing to answer.
first, my general credentials.
i am a working writer, with a number of professional poetry publications in journals and lit.
one else who might have some insight here):
I have a follow-up question, if I can bother you one more time. I have done a bit of research now into the matter of the 1975 prophecy, and it seems, based on what I've read so far, that JW folks during that time were both particularly discouraged from and reluctant to have children (and obviously, why wouldn't this be the case, if the End was believed to be imminent?) Yet, as I've structured my plot, my fictional couple would have had at least three children during those years (between 1966 and 1975--in 1969, 1972, and 1974).
This seems as though it might be a problem when it comes to authenticity of my couple as JW folks, especially if quite devout. So, here's my question:
I can speak from experience here, as I was a fully believing JW at the time and my first child was born in 1975. Some people did put off having children due to fears of Armageddon, but other people did not, and of course children have a way of coming even when you don't actually plan them, so it was not considered scandalous to have children, although there might have been a few people who judged you and made comments (of course in a religion like this people judged and made comments about everything anyway). It's not like you could be disfellowshipped for getting pregnant (unless you weren't married of course).
As it got closer to 1975 with no major world events I think even some people who had put off having children decided to just go ahead and have them, as there was a mini baby boom in my congregation, five children born in 1975 in a group of about 100. Even in a doomsday cult I think people just get tired of living in limbo and start wanting to get on with normal life.
