  Would you be able to survive a three day Assembly?

  the last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.

  the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.

  i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.

  Years ago one day in the blistering heat at Dodger Stadium with an elderly mom, I just said to myself "this is the last one." It was brutal...that afternoon sun.

  Turned out, WT made arrangements with Long Beach convention center for something like 20 years of conventions in exchange for certain cleaning and maintenance, and it was in doors, and 5 minutes from my house. YAY!!!

  The last time I went to the regional convention, 2020, I had no idea it would be the last. But a group of us sat up and away, and brought things to do. I wrote letters and cards, others worked on personal paperwork.

  Olympic games/ jw.org keep on the watch

  the main article on jw.org is about the succesfull olympic games 2024 in paris.. many withness watch all the sport episodes of the games, but jw.org comes with a sour story about the games and not reaching real peace.. again jw.org is on the wrong side of history a d doesn't feel the public anx jw opinion.

  the closing remarks of the ioc president bach, thaf the games will not reach peace but plant peace in the hart of people was a strong message.. the organization and message of the games is all that jw.org wants to, but can't.. very sad and narrow minded, as ever.

  Can you imagine actually featuring this article in a conversation on a normal day to a normal householder? They would laugh you to the sidewalk.

  Nothing is perfect in this world and to me, the Olympics is about personal achievement from people who have a dream and fight and work hard for it. There are ugly parts to it as well as utter joy in accomplishment...those kids aren't faking it. Kudos to those amazing athletes.

  The WT org talks about being the only organization that can get anything done (free labor) in their building work, or convention/disaster work, but there is camaraderie in a shared task. I remember an elder's wife who was always working at KH rebuilds and remodels told me she thought being in that club was special. That was until she worked with Habitats for Humanity through her work. Same thing, same feeling, same camaraderie, same accomplishment. The take away, "we" are not so special. It's a human thing.

  It was a spectacular Olympics, and Paris did a phenomenal job IMHO. I plan to be out of town in four years when it comes to LA again...because...traffic.

  What was the craziest elder that you ever meet?

  this elder was a kook he got me to hop freight trains.

  there was a ms who worked for the railroad and he gave this elder a print out of the time and engine #.

  so early one morning we hopped on the train.

  GB making their exit before the GT??

  did i misinterpret something or read something wrong?.

  did the gb say recently that they are to be dead or pulled out of earthly existence before the great tribulation?.

  if so, can someone point me to jw literature or a thread on this topic?.

  WT needs your kids uneducated: CO training video is Master Class in F.O.G. This is jaw-droppingly stupid. Beyond moronic, it's sub-moronic.

  today is the first time i was made aware of this actual elder body video.

  it's training for how a co should handle elder's whose children decide to pursue further education.

  I'm kind of surprised at the message being given in the video as it is much stronger than what I see going on locally. It is quite common for JW kids (esp the young gals) to go to at least 2-year Community College and on to career training such as nursing.

  This is what has been going on in my area for decades. However when I graduated in the 70's, if you even went to a trade school you were talked to by the elders. ***sigh***

  On a side note, an elder in my hall offered to send me to college for a degree in accounting, he had his own firm. This is one regret, and its a big one, I have by not pursuing that.

  We stayed with a family in Germany and the husband was the doctor at Selters Branch(sp?). He told us the elders in his hall gave him so much grief because his kids went to college. He said "how could I deprive my children from an education that I was allowed to have."

  So hypocritical. I hate this two faced corporation.

  Good post.

  Since being out I've met ex-elders that were gutted and in tears for being involved with certain JC's, those thankfully got out. Dave Gracey and Roger Bentley stood up to the corporation in their dealing with CSA cases and DF'd for doing so.

  Jeez what does it take to figure out "THEY ARE MAKING THIS S**T UP AS THEY GO ALONG!!!" And the path to and from is strewn with broken and dead bodies from the decisions made by MEN in JC's. Wake the f**k up!

  i just read on facebook terry, aka orangefatcat has passed.. i met her at the blow out apostafest in toronto years ago.

  she was a bigger than life character in person with a great sense of humor as well as always with a kind word and positive message on facebook.. rip terry.💔😞.

  Hey Rich!

  That was really a fun time. I have pictures somewhere of smoking cigars out on the patio... I even met a retired mercenary cab driver. He was worried about me going to this gathering where I didn't know really anybody. He waited for me to take me back to the hotel at 2 am, and took me to the airport in the morning. And I just remembered I flew out to visit my elderly mother and elder brother the next day. Talk about about a mind snap.

  We have lost a few from that gathering. Kit, Uzzah, and now OFC. May they all rest in peace.

  I am always happy to see how your life has moved forward on FB.

  I met her at the blow out Apostafest in Toronto years ago. She was a bigger than life character in person with a great sense of humor as well as always with a kind word and positive message on Facebook.

  RIP Terry.💔😞
