Do I truly want the Watchtower to collapse? I dont truly want to much of anything nowdays. I find life less stressful and more peacefull when I limiit my emotional attachment to things. If the Watchtower collapsed, it would bring a smile to my face in passing and that would be pleasant information.

by nicolaou inthere are the abuses of course, the diabloical 'two witness' rule applied to allegations of molestation, the reckless 'blood ban' in all it's tortuous complexities (which by watchtowers own admission has resulted in many fatalaties) and the cruel punishment of shunning which has caused so much suffering and pain to many of us here.. is it for these reasons that you want to see the watchtower fall or is it simply that you want to see them humiliated and broken for what they've done to you?
most of us aren't bitter or selfish enough to want personal revenge against the watchtower but i'd be lying if i said i didn't sometimes think like that.. the reason for my original question is that i sometimes feel a bit hypocritical.
i try to accord respect to jw's and individuals of all faiths, (yes, even when i go off on one of my atheistic diatriabes) but whereas i allow myself to be hostile to the watchtower i shrink from being so forthright against other 'christian' faiths whose corrosive nature may not be so easily apparent but is there nonetheless.. i guess my question is; why do we want the watchtower to fall but do not wish all religion to fall?.

I try to get along with everybody.
Marriage is a financial arrangement to share and divide resources at least here in the usa. So unless a woman had a lot of money and wanted to take care of me I wouldnt marry her. If she had a lot of money and wanted to take care of me and she was attractive then her religion my not matter. But I would need more information
What is the bible right about? Its hit and miss. Its interpretation. How can you get in the lord? and who is the Lord? Before you try to live anymore of your life by the bible research who wrote the book.

How long did it take for people to notice that you were a JW?
by JH inat work, probably people could tell right away that you were different, by not smoking, not playing lotto, not cussing, not celebrating birthdays and so on.... how long were you able to go without anyone knowing you were a jw?.

I was raised as a witness, so thruout high school I tried to keep it hidden as a I felt embarrased by it. After high shcool 1971 I came out of the closet because of 1975 and I took the message seriously and tried to save people. That was my goal the first 5 years out of high school, to save other people, when I should have been preparing myself to live in this world. When nothing happened in 75, 76, 77, 78 I started researching in bookstores and I left in 83. Just walked away, never been back.

go from there?We live in the information age. Goodle your questions and then research them with a grain of salt.
Ive found in my 23 years out of the organization that there are no answers which are satisfying or stand up to scrutiny. That realization leaves me to live life one day at a time and each day as if it were my last. I am constantly looking for a better more satisfying answer but today this is the best I can give you. Your experience with the witnesses was a growing, learning experience. They didnt have the answers either. We were all to naive to discern that at the time. Now we have more tools and resources. Good luck on your search for answers.

My JW roommate and the false religion tract
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate who is disabled was in the hospital for a couple of days last week (nothing too serious).
one of the 'sisters' from the hall brought her a few of the tracts to hand out while she was in the hospital (like to nurses and whoever).
she hasn't been to the meetings for a while because she hasn't been feeling well so this was the first time she had seen them.

-KI waste a lot of time on the net, but I dont watch tv. I dont think the net is any worse than tv and it could possible be argued that computers and the innernet are prefered over television.

My only safe haven for my own anti-jw beliefs is evolution.
And it has me feeling I might be wrong. Even though I can feel deep down I'm not.Good luck to you in escaping the witlesses. If you think hispanic is a race your way off on evolution. Hispanic is more of a political designation pertaining to the usa. The battle between England and Spain in colonizing this country. Spain is a european country the people there are just like Italians and Germans and English.

I've gone a week without smoking!
by fullofdoubtnow inwell done linda, i started taking zyban 3 days ago.
you take it for 2 weeks before giving up, although already i noticed i am smoking less and keep putting cigarette down and forgetting i was smoking.
it's very bizarre.

by darth frosty inwhile the dubs were so looking forward to telling the world how false religion was going to end ( wonder how that went for them) i got to thinking, what special event are we looking forward to in the next 3 months.. so right here, right now, what special event do you look forward to in the next 3 months.
for me its going snowboarding and when its really miserble here heading down to warmer climate for a nice lil holiday..

In the next 3 months, I look forword to a schedule change at work which will give me the weekends off, then I will start playing music in a band again on Friday and Saturday.

Raising well rounded and balanced kids...what have you done right?
by My MILs worst nightmare, a nonJW inparenting is one of the most difficult yet rewarding things there is.
doesn't every parent want their children to have a good moral compass, to have good manners, to be socially adept, to be compassionate, to reach their potential and even overachieve in terms of school and career, to appreciate and understand history, science, the arts and the world as a whole, to play team sports when they are younger so they can benefit from physical activity and the comraderie of a team sport, and above all to be a critical thinkers who are strong and independent so that they will not become easy prey to abusive organizations and/or abusive people?.
as a parent i have many times felt like a real failure and at other times like i am actually helping them to reach their potential.. what do you feel that you have done right in raising well rounded and balanced kids?

I went against everything the watertower society prescribed and so far, I have been successful. My son has made me proud.
