The Society Says...
by drew sagan inreading another thread reminded me of this time long ago before i was ever baptized.
during a book study the conductor (who was the p.o.
) made a comment about being out in the field service and using the bible.

we blindly believed it for so long because they way it's taught if you're:
A- brought into it through the door-to-door preaching it's presented to you who likely knows nothing about the bible in a way that makes the WTS look like they know everything and no thought is required. And neither will any thinking be required as you go, but you'll be told you're *really* thinking and being a rebel so you don't look any further.
B- if you grew up a witness you believe your parents would not lie to you AND they tell you the JW's know everything.

The Right Heart Condition
by purplesofa inok, i'm on a roll.. were you all told that only people with the right heart condition would understand the scriptures?.
and, did you constantly feel like you did not have the right heart condition?.
i just sorta gave up as my heart was not going to be manipulated anymore.. so, sometimes i kinda feel like i have a defective heart.. i don't know why this song comes to mind............it just did.. .

right heart condition is a lot nice sounding than sponge-for-brains. it puts being receptive and naive in an emotional light that sounds warm to make you want it.

two birds with one stone, without getting stoned. possible?
by TheKings ini really need some help from the experts.
the situation i'm living in now is that i'm currently saving money to move out.
my family are jw's, but actually only my mom is baptised.

thank you freetosee ...i'm really grateful for the help i'm getting here. it will prove invaluable.
i've had my life straightened out for a year since all those troubles. i've got a job as a graphic artist, online...although my mom asks constantly if i'm trying to become casual friends with my employer :p with the money i'm getting i'm paying for the internet so she can no longer threaten to turn it off.
i'm getting back to college next year and hopefully things will be much better once i can get out into the real world.

i see...
there's a great danger in trying to attract truth-seekers. like dormant volcanoes they will errupt with enough friction.

that's a very good suggestion, since they know just how psycho she can get...and they've been having huge problems lately. they come home every night from the meeting and all she does it complain about how everyone hates her there so she has to move congregations again.
she's the type of person who loves being a martyr no matter how much she protests. they know how she gets, especially with me. that might work.

Fading: A Little Craziness Helps
by metatron inas you may know, i am a zealous advocate of using depression as a means of fading out of the organization.. let me add that a hint of craziness or mental illness can work wonders, too.
instead of shunning you, your witness.
relatives and "friends" may make quite an allowance for you, if you just keep your mouth shut about deep apostasy.. they may just feel sorry for you and leave you alone- at least, that's largely my experience.. remember that movie that said "love means never having to say you're sorry"?

Metatron - I will say it again, as I did in your previous thread about this: You might consider that quite a number of forum readers/users actually DO battle mental illness FOR REAL. Your flippant comments about pretending to be "crazy" are offensive. This is why there is such a stigma against mental illness. People don't view it as a real disease, and that if sufferers really wanted to, they could just wish their illness away. This type of attitude trivializes the difficulty in dealing with the disease and does no favors to those who really suffer.
i faced those issues and i thought the post was funny.

good advice, thank you...
i know they will tell her though...unless i'm able to do it perfectly. i was never that close with any of them because through-out my life i've always had to hide my true self.
the first step will be the hardest one of all.
