  this isnt really so much about erasmus and the "received text" as about how our nature is to cling to what we have accepted as true despite evidence to the contrary, especially when it comes to what we believe is inspired.

  towards the end of the fourth century, when jerome revised the old latin version, he wrote in the preface to the gospels : "is there a man, learned or unlearned, who will not, when he takes the volume in his hands, and perceives that what he reads does not suit his settled tastes, break out immediately into violent language and call me a forger and a profane person for having had the audacity to add anything to the ancient books, or to make any changes or corrections therein?

  psychosomosis?

  no, it's not in my dictionary either.

  but 'psychosomatic' relates to disorders caused or aggravated by psychological factors and so i use the term to refer to healing caused or expedited by psychological factors.

  the london times of 6th march 2002 reported :lung fear may lead to curb over mothers giving blood.

  the national blood service said yesterday that it was actively considering restrictions of blood donated by women who have been pregnant because it can trigger a fatal lung condition in the recipient.. four people are known to have died in britain in the past four years because they have received blood from donors who are mothers.

  the same factor is thought to have caused another ten deaths.. women who have been pregnant produce antibodies to protect themselves from the foreign cells of the foetus, and the levels rise with each pregnancy.

  eventually, michael the archangel found him on the seventh day, resting.. he inquired of god, "where have you been?".

  god sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds.. "look michael, look what i've made.

  More Underwater Civilisations

  at 21:00 gmt tonight there is a programme on channel 4 entitled "flooded kingdoms of the ice age".

  author graham hancock scours the seas for evidence of the earliest civilisations, which he believes were submerged when the polar ice caps melted at the end of the last ice age.

  in tonight's programme hancock makes some finds off the west coast of malta and along the "bimini road", a megalithic structure in the atlantic.. no doubt those who believe in a universal flood will continue to do so and those who don't will not, but it will add to the larger picture that we have on this subject.. earnest.

  at the meeting this evening the co discussed the scriptural basis for separation between husband and wife.

  he said there were three grounds for separation :.

  1. the man refuses to support his family in a material way.

  heard a report on the radio this morning of a large civilization 4000 years before sumer.

  there was also mention that it had been destroyed by a flood which was attributed to melting ice.

  i wasn't quite awake at the time but this article in yesterday's indian express provides some details.

  God is editor of the WT

  in an earlier thread reference was made to a court case in which fred franz stated that jehovah god was editor of the "watch tower".

  as this quotation is often used to support the allegation that jws believe the wt is inspired of god i thought it would be of wider interest to provide the relevant court record for general consideration.. the court case itself was in 1940 and was olin moyle against fred franz and others and the wtbts.

  just so that you know who is who, hayden covington was attorney for the defendants and walter bruchhausen was attorney for the plaintiff.
