Please say hello to my wife.
by nicolaou ini've been posting here for quite a long time, so long in fact that it just doesn't feel right that my wife isn't a part of it.
earlier today i created an account for her with the username heron, she'll know why.
i'm not sure if my wife will ever post here but i would feel much more comfortable knowing she is aware that i do.. this is the one post i am going to ask her to read.. so, i'd really appreciate it if you could say hello to my lovely wife.

What was the worst (or funniest) thing you got caught doing at a meeting?
by danfromma inor in service, or just by jws period... me, i was notorious for doodling in my literature.
when i was about 12, i got caught drawing the led zeppelin logo in my bible by the meanest elder in the hall.
my mother wouldn't let me out of the house for about 2 months!

I was at an assembly with my baby - maybe 6 mos old. He got fussy and I was holding him on my lap facing out toward the people in front of us. He projectile vomited (stinky sour milk) on the brother sitting in front of us. It got the back of his head and down the back of his clothes.

Anyone in GA willing to help expose a pedophile?
by DebraDoll inafter spending 2.5 hrs on the phone with a lifelong friend whom i had not been in touch with for several years, she revealed to me that she too had been molested in the 70's by my uncle; s.m., a well known elder at the time.
he began his career in sexual deviance while living on staten island ny in the early 60's.
he moved to plymouth nc in the early 70's while married to my young aunt linda.

Jehovahs witness men who trade old wives in for new....
by candidlynuts inhow prevalent was this in your area?
jw man in good standing, elders, ministerial servants, all levels, i have seen them trade off their old wife and marry a younger woman.
they might get df'd for a year or so but eventually return and get all their priveleges back , only difference is they have a new woman on their arm.. the old wife usually has to move to another kingdom hall or accept the new couple being in her face all the time.

It seems there was a rash of these back years ago. Guess things haven't changed much. These are some stories I recall from the rumor mill:
One elder left his wife and ran off to Florida with a new young thing. Apparently it wasn't what he expected and soon came back. I don't recall if he was DF or just reproved since he quickly realized his mistake.
Another was "counseling" a young sister inside the KH and they got caught in the act when another brother stopped in to see why the lights were on in the KH at a time no one was supposed to be there.
Another elder that was on a JC for my ex. Apparently he was involved with someone around the same time he was judging others. -

by candidlynuts inhas anyone called bethel to confirm that this is an official proclamation?.
a few 1000 phone calls might get some attention... probably cause warning talks on getting your information thru emails instead of publications ... i know some of you here do call bethel on occasion..just wondering if anyone has called to ask about this latest stuff..

This is an email I just received from a friend in Houston:
Subject: FW: Sensational claim NOT represent view of F&DS
Date: Sat, 13 Jan 2007 21:21:59 -0600

This from our D.O. Bro. Mendenhall

Dear Family & Friends,
You probably heard about the sensational claim made by a speaker at an SAD to the effect that the GB felt Mt. 24:14 had been completely fulfilled. As we know, it is always good to be cautious about believing such claims, and certainly about spreading them. We should remember that F&DS reserves unto itself the right to dispense spiritual "food at the proper time," and in its own way. New "light" comes to us through the channel used by the F&DS. It usually comes first through the pages of The Watchtower, or, through manuscript talks at summer district conventions which are later printed in The Watchtower.
About six weeks ago I slipped over to the Rosenberg Assembly Hall to hear Brother Jaracz give an SAD, and he said nothing of the sort that the speaker below apparently said.
The caution below given by the brother below in his e-mail is a valid one.
Warm love,
Don

FRIENDS - THERE IS THE EMAIL AND SOUND BYTE GOING AROUND THAT A BROTHER GAVE AT AN ASSEMBLY THAT SAID THAT THE "FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE" HAD SAID THAT MATT. 24:14 WAS FULFILLED. NOT TRUE. A BROTHER HAS CHECKED WITH LEGAL AT THE BRANCH AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NOT TRUE AND WAS "BEING HANDLED" AT THIS TIME. PLEASE.. IF YOU HEAR OF THIS OR YOU HAVE RECEIVED IT AND SENT IT OUT TO SOMEONE ELSE..PLEASE SEND THEM THE TRUTH SO WE CAN STOP THIS FALSE EMAIL & SOUND BYTE.
MUCH THANKS...AND WARM CHRISTIAN LOVE... BRO. RICK MOBERG -

Do You Get Any Pleasure Out of the Holidays Since Leaving the Watchtower?
by jayhawk1 inyesterday was my crappy birthday, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/20/127389/1.ashx and while the evening went along, i realized something.

Simply, NO. Even though I have not been a JW for almost 3 decades, I still find no joy in the holidays. All those years growing up the kids in school swapping Valentine cards, making Easter baskets, etc. made me feel out of place. Guess all those old feelings of isolation are still lurking in my brain.
When my kids were young I found out from other JWs that Otasco stores put all their games & toys on sale half price the day after Christmas. I always took the kids and they had a ball buying new toys. I let them exchange Valentine cards and participate in other school things because I did not want them growing up feeling so "different".
We never decorated and I still just can't get into any of that. When people at work would give me little presents for Christmas it always made me feel bad because I hadn't bought them anything.
We usually did have a feast on Thanksgiving. The JW part of the family at first didn't want to participate but I explained it's just a day everyone is off work and the turkeys are on sale really cheap. Didn't take them long to get used to those dinners!!! -

What surprises me (guess it shouldn't) is that they are saying "NOT AUTHORIZED BY THE GOVERNING BODY.." when they already said it in the 9/1/1995 WT.
I also heard about the same thing as Junction-Guy. In a letter my sister said that "most of Dan 2 has already happened. We are living in the time of vs 41-43. It is during this time period that vs 44 will be fulfilled. Rev 17 & 18 foretell the fall of false religion, but most of Revelation has already been fulfilled." -

Daughter wants JW grandpa (shunning us) to help her get a car . . .
by Madame Quixote insome time back, my daughter, (a senior in high school), and i were car window-shopping for her.
she suggested that she ought to ask grandpa - (a jw who is shunning us) - to help her buy a car.
i had actually suggested it a long, long time ago when i was still sometimes in contact with the jw family, but my feelings in the matter (of contact with jw family) changed last year, and i've decided it is better for my mental and emotional well-being to discontinue my efforts at "keeping the lines of communication open" with the jw family because of their shunning policies and evangelism.

You said, "I have a car that I can fix up and let her use/have, but she does not seem interested in it."
Don't you feel guilty for not buying her a newer or better car. Don't let her push you into contacting your parents if you don't want to. If she wants wheels, she should be happy with the one you have. She can use it while she saves up enough money to pay cash for a better one.
I was a single mom and $$ was tight. Their first cars were old & cheap. My daughter now drives a Lexus that she bought new and paid for herself.
They appreciate things much more when they have to work for them.
Edited to add: Please be careful if you choose to co-sign a loan. Only co-sign if you are willing and able to pay for the loan yourself. You would need to make sure every payment was made on time or it can ruin your credit score. As a co-signer, the creditor is not required to and will not usually contact you if payments are not made on time. You could end up with late payments and even a repossession on your credit report. I personally would never co-sign a loan even with my kids. -

Looking for info on the WTS development of baptism ?'s & requirement's
by jwfacts inin a recent thread blondie mentioned that the baptism questions were not introduced until the 1960s.
what do an interested person have to do prior to then in order to be allowed to be baptised?.
it got me thinking about the wts justification for the questions.

proplog2 is right - an assembly was not necessary. I just described my situation which happened to be at a CA.

I was baptized at age 12 in 1960. At that time all you had to do was show up at the circuit assembly with a bathing suit you could change into. Those being baptized sat down in front of the stage. There was a brief talk; we then were told to stand. They asked us as a group two questions (don't remember what they were). We as a group answered in the affirmative and off we went to a pool at a cheap motel nearby to be dipped.
