Yeah, I've been out 9 years and when I have a stressful conversation with my mom about how lame our relationship is, and my mind is trying to work it out, I'll dream I'm a witness again. I am usually somewhere with a bunch of them I used to know and hardly ever think about anymore. I always just wish I wasn't there and when I wake up, I am so grateful I got out and have my life.

Ask a Question you didn't dare ask an elder because of fear of being DF'd?
by JH inonce a person is baptized, you can't ask the questions you may have asked prior to your baptism.. but probably after your baptism, there were things you'd have like to tell or ask the elders, but this could have meant that you had doubts.. what would you have said to an elder or asked him if it wasn't for the fear of getting reproved or df'd?.

I get almost a whole month off between quarters! I forget how much I appreciate my freedom until something comes along to occupy it. My husband and I are going to drive east for x-mas. We'll be in P-town (503) for turkey day.

I'm scared and I need help
by Chameleon infor those of you that don't know my story, read my first post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/122526/1.ashx
so, i think next week is when i find out if i am approved to be an ms. if not, thank god, but if i am, i'm in deep crap.
elder dad is confident that i'll accept, but my plan is to try to get out of it by saying that i want to finish school and get an aa degree, at least, before accepting more responsibilities.

I won't be the most relevant post here, but in my experience, if you want to be able to talk to your parents when you are older, leave the UN out of it. Use school excuse. There is great temptation to being honest, but witnesses don't play by human rules. They will think Satan has already got you and now is trying to get them through you. Just let them know that you want to give it your full attention and proper priority in your life, but you need to make sure you are in a good job so that you can have less distractions from preparing inspiring #2s. It's been a while since I was around Witness brains, so I don't even know how I sound to them anymore. Good luck. I'm sure better advice is on the way!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
by scout575 in"but the lord said unto samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because i have refused him: for the lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the lord looketh on the heart.
" ( 1 samuel 16:7 ).
"thus saith the lord of hosts, i remember that which amalek did to israel, how he laid in wait for him in the way, when he came up from egypt.

the walk of shame
by nonamegiven init all starts after you hear "these things we pray through jesus christ, amen".
i gather my books and the kid's books and put them away.
by that time people are walking over to us and talking to my wife and playing with my kids.

I walked that walk for nine months (first time offense- i guess they went easy on me) I think your situation is harder because I was in high school and you have kids. But as another poster eloquently said - Same %&$*, different pile. It's BS. Just wait til they all line up to hug you. You will want to vomit at their robot insincerity, and you just might see how truly jacked up it is. I actually grew to like being DF'd because I didn't really like having to talk to those people (this took some distance and time to realize). But it's really hard when they were so nice to you before and hugged you and let you play with their kids. There is a kind of kick in the gut when you realize these friends of yours are actually willing to do that to you. It's hard to take. Also, I tried to fade a couple years after that and they hounded me until I met with them. Big mistake - stay away from committee meetings or judicial whatevers because they will make it so your kids won't be able to talk to you if you and your wife split up, for the rest of your life. whenever you feel bummed, give us a post, because a lot of us have been there and will make you feel not so alone...you already get enough of that right now. I don't know where my emoticons are, but if I could, I'd give you some eye contact, a smile, a hug and a beer.

Why are there so few atheists in the USA?
by moshe ini read a poll today that said atheists numbered 26% in israel.
russia and europe were about the same percentage, too.
the united states had the fewest at only 1% who identified as atheists.
-
XU
Can anyone else read this? Well, I don't really declare myself an atheist, because I don't really see how what I believe really matters in the big scheme of things, which runs quite contrary to the belief that Christians have, so maybe I am one. But anyhoo, I have been studying US history this quarter and guess who never thought history was relevant? me in my dub dream. So, now I actually pay attention. I think we are a product of our conditioning and we were founded by native killing manifest destiny fulfilling god loving puritans. Also, look at the president of the US. Many Christians have felt more confident to let their beliefs hang out because it is popular and cool right now. This country has felt it was better than communism because "In Go(l)d We Trust". One nation under god. These things were added to our national identity because the founding fathers didn't really want all that religion trouble in the government. Please poly-sci fanatics, don't blast my amateur blog, I am just starting to think about this stuff. So, when life is uncertain, in times of war, economic depression, media frenzies, people like to think someone is looking out for them. If we realize it's all up to us, we get a little freaked out. Some of us realize the exciting potential, most of us are like,"Oh hell no." So, maybe we are just not ready to make that evolutionary leap into the potential we really possess. And atheists aren't going to run around with God is Dead t-shirts because anyone can be a terrorist these days, what with no more habeus corpus.

For believers: Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?
by lovelylil inwhile thinking about this bible verse today taken from matthew 18, i began seeing a correlation to our time and the trend among christian churches.
there are several that i am sure we can name that make claims such as "we are the only true church" or "we are the only true christians" or even that "no one can see the truth unless they are in contact with our church to teach it".
and these ones judge others by placing everyone outside their group in "spiritual darkness".. isn't this the same thing as jesus' early disciples asking "who is the greatest in the kingdom?

I heard this one illustration. Churches are like a bunch of people standing in the fog. They all say, "Hey, it's totally clear right by me! Look at all those other fools - they are in the fog." They all have a similar perspective. Maybe people think there is only one way and defend whatever they are invested in.

It doesn't sound like she loves you. It doesn't sound like you love you. It sounds like you deserve love and compassion more than she does right now. What do you think you should do?
