Weird things relating to females at the KH
by Tatiana inwith all the news concerning the child abuse lawsuits, and from reading many comments concerning the wts' view of women, i started remembering lots of little things that were brought up at my kh in the many years i attended.
i don't remember anything pertaining to the brothers.
but, there were things brought up from the platform that just seem ridiculous.

I've never been counselled by elders (or brothers) on my dress, cleavage and all ... strange really. All the flak I've ever received came from other "sisters". They especially loved to call me "materialistic", just because I had an alluring figure and sewed my own clothes ... all of which fit me perfectly. Jealous bunch of ....

Another good approach might be to have the book Crisis of Conscience handy when they call. This, by Raymond Franz, can be ordered through the site www.freeminds.org for about $20. When they call, all you have to do is grab this book (having a King James version of the Bible along with it works even better). They are likely to run out terrified of that book.
LOL! This suggestion should work like a charm!

Moral and upright but substandard
by greendawn ini recall how the fds was castigating those that didn't do any field service making them out to be spiritually dead though otherwise they may well be very moral and responsible people.
and the intimidation that those who do not support the kingdom ie do not preach will be punished by the angels during the time of the end.
they have hidden the money their master gave them, they are lazy and worthless slaves deseving of punishment.

Oh how they love to quote "faith without works is dead", but what proof is there that "works" refers to field service? Another scripture taken out of context, as reading the entire chapter would show.

Is it proper for men to tip their hats to women?
by ThomasCovenant inapologies if you all have read this before.. watchtower 1952 15th april pages 254-256. it is the woman that is commanded to show respect and recognition of the mans position of headship, and women who rebel at it are not so much rebelling against men as they are against god.gen.
3:16; 1 cor.
11:2-10; eph.

Just my 2 cents, but I always believed that the JWs took that verse of scripture out of context. In my opinion, it only applied to the widow.
I never liked the idea of running after "brothers"; just too undignified for me thanks. I married a "worldly" man, and I'm quite happy I did.

I didnt answer the door or the phone and I never got disfellowshipped.
I still dont answer the phone. I screen my calls. If somebody calls I want to talk to, I pick up or call back. If someone knocks on my door, I screen them also, If I dont know who it is why would I answer. It would be a salesman selling something. I dont do business that way. In your case if its a witness dont answer.
If you havent done anything wrong and you dont talk to them they cant do anything to you. They dont disfellowship you for not answering the door or phone. In time they will forget about you. If you rent you will probably move. If you own your own home the congregation will probably divide and be renamed and you will no longer be a member.
This is exactly what worked for me! I changed addresses and never had my publisher's record card transferred. I attended 2 or 3 meetings at the new congregation, then never went back. Pretty soon, the new congregation split and I fell through the cracks. I've since changed addresses again, so now I'm a virtual stranger.
I think you should plan MANY more business trips ... looong ones. When you come back, keep your return a secret.

Did you ever end a relationship because you were a JW?
by TheCoolerKing ina few years before i left the jws for good, i broke off a relationship with my worldly girlfriend.
we were in love, but i ended it because i felt guilty and wanted to be a good dub.
then about three years after we broke up, i left the org.

Definitely yes! I can't count how many potential relationships I nipped in the bud because of the JW factor. In my late teens/early twenties I seemed to be beating these "worldly" men off with a stick ... and these were professional men that other women would've killed to have! Stupid me! When I finally decided to fade, I begun dating "worldly" men and found most of them to be some of the most genuine people I've ever met. By that time, being an attractive woman in her late twenties with no children/never married worked out in my favour. I was in great demand, and in a position to choose whom I wanted to be with (unlike in the "Borganization"). So far I'm absolutely elated with my choice.
