36Leaving the Organization but not the teachings
by donny inwhen i left the witnesses in 1992 after ten years in the orgainzation, i got as far away from the teachings and mindest as i could.
however some, like my former brother-in-law, also left, but are intent on finding ways to reform the society from within since he believes in the society as being of god, but that it has become misguided and is slowly drifting to "christendom" status.
one of the things he cites as evidence is the wtbts become aligned with the united nations.

The growing irrelevance of the Watchtower message
by drew sagan inin many ways it appears as if the watchtower movement is slowing down.
a number of changes over the last few years certainly show that the watchtower is in a period of transition.
they have cut back on the number of magazines they print as well as lowered the cost of production by eliminating things like hard backed books.

It's slowly eroding, which is still good to see. Of course, the USSR was slowly eroding for a while, and yet still when the Wall was torn down, I stood watching on TV, awestruck! So maybe it's possible.

My son is moving in with his girlfriend............Consequences????

Maybe she learned something the hard way (not that she may ever apologize to you) that turning you in to the elders didn't help you or change you, and eventually she paid a price, a broken marriage. If she does the same thing about your son, then she will lose another relationship and no doubt, your son will move on as he deserves to have a life.

My son and I had a talk after back from JW dad's
by milligal inwell some of you know that i gave my son over (custody) to his jw dad after a vicious 7 year long custody battle.
it broke my heart but i ran out of ways to keep fighting and it was tearing our family apart.
anyway for the last 1& 1/2 years he's lived with his dad and spent all holidays and summer break w/me.

every period and situation of history can be construed as a "system" involving specific political, economical, social and technical conditions and a corresponding set of ideas, or beliefs, allowing for a certain type of self-, community- and world-understanding.

That they feel comfort is well and good. However, JWs belief system teaches that their loved ones are coming back "SOON" in the resurrection because the end is coming so soon. As their delayed 'soon' goes on and on, decade after decade, JWs often have a delayed mourning process of dealing with reality. I was told the same thing about my mom dying of cancer, almost 40 years ago.

WTS Will Stop Charging Interest on Loans
by doinmypart inthe org will stop charging interest on kh building fund loans effective sep 1, 2008. current loan payment amounts will remain the same so the loans can be paid off sooner.. congregations should continue to donate to the kh building fund, and publishers can donate directly to the fund by sending donations directly to the branch.
congregations are encouraged to forward surplus congregation and operating funds to the branch until the time those funds are needed by the congregation (this was actually read to the congregation...talk about full disclosure).. this is for all branches and congregations, not just the u.s..

After all this time of getting away with it, now it just stops. ??? Seems like some legalese is involved. How can a 'charitable' organization charge interest on services to helping people. Seems clearly like such a contradiction, doesn't it?

Sister dies (?) at DC

having actually managed to survive through the entire 3 grueling days of the dc after attending the friday session today (hit sat and sun last weekend) i was initially going to make a criticism of some of the parts & points at the dc.
however, something that i witnessed today changed my mind.

Shows how mind control can work to be so uneffected by a profound reality and so unfazed by it. Then at the JW funerals, not much word about the deceased other than 'this is how so-so believed' and then still just going with another talk. Absurd!
