Gilead
by AllTimeJeff ini will use my other thread today to talk about gilead.. one must apply for several years to show they are serious, unless you know a gb member or another heavy in the service dept.
a couple first gets a long app in the mail usually after several years of applying at the dc.
it is over 115 questions.

I am an avid fisherman, but i rarely hunt. Living in the Bible Belt like i do, where hunting is extremely popular and part of the culture, I generally sympathize with the points made on this thread in defense of hunters and gun rights. So, the reasons that I don't hunt are mainly economical and time-related--to hunt legally and effectively, you generally have to have the following: hunting license, gun, ammo, paid membership dues at a hunting club/lodge or you have to own the land yourself, all kinds of equipment, and you have to pay to have the animal either processed or handled at a taxidermist. All of this expense to enjoy the sport is simply not worth it to me.

JW Membership will Self Destruct in...5...4...3...2...
by LovesDubs inthink about it...if only the kids of baptized members are getting baptized all we have to do is sit back and wait and the organization will cease to exist on its own!
the numbers of "young ones" splitting from the cult and never looking back are greatly increasing so you can count out their offspring ever becoming members.
the ones that stay and stick and are loyal wont be "having children in this time of the end" very much...and the chances of those offsprings offspring sticking are remote as well.. so...if you deprive a fire of oxygen.

I don't see them 'self-destructing', but I DO see them continuing to experience statistical nongrowth and even contraction in the US, Japan, and Europe. They're sitting on a goldmine in NYC, and money IS still flowing into their treasury. As the GB dies off, I predict 'new light' will emerge saying something to the effect that GB members no longer have to be of the anointed, thus the baton can be passed and a smooth transition can be made to the current top lieutenants in Brooklyn. it's coming, you'll see...

I need to get my husband some help...
by mrsjones5 inmy husband has an ugly temper.
it rears it's ugly head rarely (well used to be rarely) and now it pops up mostly when my oldest boy messes up.
it's so bad that anyone seeing it would call it abuse.

Josie,
Anyway you look at it, it's evident that your husband has serious issues that need to be addressed, anger management being one of them. Whether it's due to his upbringing or not, responsible, mature adults learn to overcome these kinds of problems and do not repeatedly go off into fits of rage against other people. Discreetly encourage him to recognize that he has a problem and get help with it, or remove yourself and your child from the situation, it's as plain as that. No one should have to put with what you described.

How Well Does the Watchtower Educate?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 18px; color: #330099; } .style4 {font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style5 {font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 16px; color: #330099; } --> how well does the watchtower educate?admittedly, my opinion about the watchtower is that it trained.
and educated individuals wellin particular when it came .
to reading and public speaking.. education or propaganda?

the only aspect that I personally seemed to derive some longterm benefit from was the public speaking done in the TMS. Other than that their efforts to "educate" are pretty weak, IMO.

How many still live with consequenses made as a teen that still affect you?
by megsmomma inwith so many of us having gotten baptised at a young age and now dealing with the results of it.... it made me wonder how many decisions made at a young age still could and do affect your life.. example: when i was 14 i thought it was a good idea to marry this weird brother that was our land lord.
(thank goodness i was too young to do so) also, i thought it was a good idea to have pet monkeys....and a good idea to have my own apartment with several other young jw sisters...even thinking it would be a good idea to have babies.... i was too young to do any of those things...so i have no consequences from having those ideas....yet, getting dunked at that age was perfectly acceptable....and now i still pay the price.. are there any things you can think of that you would have done at a young age that could have made you pay for years to come?.

No college education or degree is one regret for me. Of course, as I've gotten older, my view of academia and college has evolved as well--I don't happen to think it is as important as it used to be, unless of course you want to go into a highly specialized field. I've actually been fortunate and done well without one. Nonetheless, I think all young people should have the OPPORTUNITY to go, if that is what they want to do.

MATT 24:11 BEING FULFILLED
by CD in**looks like someone in the wtc made a booboo******** lol!!!!!
& it is not the 1st time.
can anyone say damage control!!!

I sort of figured this would happen. we all know examples of do's and co's going "off script" in their talks, and eventually being taken to task for it, and then six months down the road it is mentioned in a km or wt article. I dont doubt for one minute that there has been chatter in the halls of brooklyn and at morning worship about the matt 2414 fulfillment, but i simply cannot imagine this being meant to come down as some kind of edict from the gb. after all, if that happened, i think you would see a steep decline in hours spent in the ministry and literature placements, and i don't think anyone in brooklyn wants to see that take place--at least not yet.

Pre-Paid Legal...
by rolling rock inanybody know anything about this service or have/use it???
please share any info you know about it... thanks chad...

I would recommend against it. The company that I work for offers a prepaid legal plan through Met Life that i gave serious consideration to enrolling in. but, once i started examining it and reading the fine print, I realized that they basically covered NOTHING, outside of preparing a will or other very simple legal filings. For instance, when it came to family law, they virtually covered nothing. My advice--you probably don't need it. And usually you are locked into paying premiums for a full year in order to file any kind of claim.
