What do you want for yourself from 2007?
by nicolaou ini want closure on the whole cult thing.
as i posted recently, the shunning started with my sisters last month and i have absolutely no desire to put up with more of the same from the rest of my family for years on end.
i would actually welcome the df announcement but i want it to come on my terms.. i do not want to end 2007 as the nominal jehovah's witness i am right now.

The same thing as every year to pursue happiness.

I am not a jehovah's Witness, so please take your time and explain this!!!!
by kidder222 inok to begin i was born catholic, recently became intune with god, and now just believe in the holy scripture.
but i have many question to you guys who are jehovah's witness'.
many of the things i have read you believe in sound completely false, and ridiculous.

It also says DO NOT judge others in the Bible, YET that is what you do.
From the sound of your post you sound like your slipping into that mode of judgementalism yourself. Maybe you need to calm down a bit aswell.

JW Weddings. Avoid Paganism at all costs!
by MinisterAmos ini just got back from a real puke-fest of a jw wedding.. i'll post some notes from the ceremony but let's just say that i had to restrain myself from getting up and saying "don't agree to that"!
.
it's now "pagan" to throw a damn boquet?

Ring = not pagan
Didn't the ritual of exchanging of wedding rings originate in ancient Babylon??

Preying on the vulnerable
by carla ini wonder if jw's know that society at large finds it disgusting that they prey upon the most vulnerable?
(this is actually a rant i can't elaborate on, but i'm pissed off about it)
-
lfcviking
but I do think they put that little extra in when they realise they have the attention of a vulnerable person
I agree with 'Dedpoet'. I think the JW's try to convert EVERYBODY regardless of whatever situation their in. But in the case of people who they sense are 'vunerable' i think they see a more & easier opportunity here.

Do You Live a 'Normal' Life?
by Golf inis unhappiness, guilt and a low-self-esteem normal?
let's share some positive experiences.
for me, i seek to find the good out of negative experiences.
-
lfcviking
'Golf' there seems to be too much confusion as to what 'normal' is, so maybe you should rephrase your question to: 'Do you live a happy life?' instead?

Use of name "Jehovah"
by XBEHERE ini just listened to one of those teaching tapes from that witness now for jesus convention, it was about the divine name.
it was a lot of stuff i've heard before "replacing lord for jehovah in new testament when they shouldnt have" , etc.
but towards the end the speaker gave an illustration that really hit me he said something like this:.

Perhaps 'Daddy' isn't enough:
"Everyone who calls upon the name of Jehovah will be saved" ROM 10:13

Who is Jesus
by soulfinder inhey everyone, i'm new here and i would really like to discuss your views on who jesus is.. please feel free to list any scripture, and i will do the same.. here are a few scriptures that may help:.
1. in the book of isaiah 7:14 jehovah prophesied that there would be a child born of a virgin, and that his name would be immanuel, which means god with us.. 14 therefore the lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him immanuel (which means god with us).. 2. in the book of john, jesus also encourages us to pray to him by saying "if you ask anything in my name, i will do it.".
john 14:14. if you askanything in my name, i will do it.. 3. here are a few instances of people worshipping jesus:.

Jesus could have been anybody. Some people say he was just a militant Socialist, some say he was a Jewish freedom fighter and as we know the bible writers claim that he was the son of God. So who knows? In the case of the Bible how did he prove he was the son of God? By miracles you say! So who knows if he REALLY did the miracles the scriptures say he did. Was it the bible writers just adding that in? Or was all the miracles just tricks? Was he just a David Blane of his day?

JW's - How many Masters are you serving?
by Honesty indo jw's agree with romans 6:16 that if one obeys someone they are slaves of the one they are obeying?.
romans 6:16 says, "do you not know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?
the watchtower society's daily text for monday december 18, 2006 says, "similarly, we will be blessed if we recognize and obey the prophet greater than moses, jesus, as well as "the faithful and discreet slave" appointed by him.".
