Volunteering and aking adult classes are excellent choices. I made dates with my husband. If your children are young, then plan family night. When making time to go for walks, to the movies or volunteering, be sure to always invite your wife. Think of places and pasttimes she likes. Keep in mind your goal: to be the best husband you can be. My parents (non-JWs) have been married more than 40 years and always make time for each other and we as children always understood they are a unit.

I still get angry at times. It's been over 15 months since my last meeting. I'm still unlearning WT lies. Currently, I'm reading the bible on its own and distrust commentaries. My husband told a sister (a fellow coworker who mentioned reading the latest WT article) we dissasociated ourselves. She asked if this was true. I confirmed his statement and said after a family conference, we decided we no longer wished to be JWs. She said, "Well, you know you have to write a letter, don't you?"
When I was a teen in the 1980's and there was a popular phrase:" I don't have to anything except eat, breathe, live and die."
I immediately thought of that phrase and told her I no longer recognize the WTS' authourity.
She shunned us yesterday. I was shocked and insulted. Then I laughed when I realized we were never friends and she's deluded by that cult. I told my daughter and she was insulted for us.

I've found another reason why JWs are discouraged from reading the bible alone.
13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
Pharoah's birthday was chosen to decide the fate of the butler and chief baker. A feast was held for all all of the servants, not as a day to give gifts to Pharoah. The birthday was a great day for the butler because he was innocent. The chief baker (who was guilty) received his just due. I don't see this as a good reason to outlaw birthdays.

Romans 8
by confused and lost ini have just finished reading the book of romans and i have a question ?
a person cannot please god unless he is controlled by the spirit.
(rom 8:8,9) nor can he put to death the misdeeds of the body except by the spirit (rom 8:13) the next verse (v14) then tells us that all who are led by gods spirit are gods sons.in fact they are adopted as his children.however, according to the wts , these verses only apply to the annointed.so,my question is this.if only the annointed are led by gods spirit, whose spirit leads the "other sheep" ?

Reading the bible itself without the Watchtower lens reveals the lies we've been taught. The book of Romans is an eye opener indeed!

Disfellowshipped
by LadyCCC iniam now as what was announced at a recent meeting that iam "no longer a jehovah's witness" all of my family and friends are witnesses so this will ailenate me from all of my friends and family.
but i feel like i don't want to go back.
i really hate the feeling of isolation and shamefulness while iam sitting in the meeting, what's the point of it all.

I have never been disfellowshipped but I am angry for you. I have always hated the hypocrisy in the organization. Please take the time to grow and heal emotionally.
You feel disconnected because your allegiance was to an organization and that organization only has the power we allow it to have. You don't need the organization. Take away its power over you and it becomes nothing.

I haven't attended the kingdom hall in over a year, but will answer most questions as I would have two years ago.
1. The JWs offered to study the bible with me. This is something the church I attended as a child never did.
2. As a JW, I developed a relationship with God. However, I never felt I was doing enough. Since leaving the kingdom hall, my relationship with God is deeper.
3. the morals taught by WTS reflected what my parents and church taught me. Now with hindsight, it was shallow because there's a lot of hypocrisy and selfishness. There was a lot of questionable behavior in the congregation.
4. I agree with Hortensia and jgnat.
5. I agree swith Hortensia and jgnat.
6.I agree with jgnat. However, I allowed my daughter to be a part of the middle school track team, attend school parties, project graduation and senior prom. She is now attending an university.
Being a JW is not a religion. It is a way of life. I was the only person in my family who was a JW and my parents insisted on being my daughter's baby sitters. Thus, my daughter was exposed to many holiday traditions.
7. JWs teach only 144, 000 go to heaven. I've believed for years that this number is figurative most of what many people believe is speculation.
8-10. I agree with Hortensia and jgnat.

In my 10 years of nursing, I've never heard of anyone who's received a "good witness" from anyone dying as a result of refusing a blood transfusion.
When I first became a nurse, the blood issue was a problem for me. I had to give a transfusion twice because there was no other RN to switch assignments with. I reasoned the client was receiving the transfusion, not me, therefore, I wasn't breaking Jehovah's law. I knew not to share this with anyone.
Blondie, no one understands why one can't accept whole blood but can accept certain fractions or "parts of parts". This is why I finally stopped listening to the WTS. Once I figured out this is a man-made rule, I was freed.
