As scully said, kids really complicate matters.
Like you I drifted along with the witnesses for years for the sake of my wife. I would go to the meetings because it made her happy though inside I really saw them as a huge waste of time. Even after we started our family it was okay. Eventually I had stopped attending other than assemblies and memorials but the real challenge came when our kids started school.
I remembered how much I stood out as different. How much abuse I took from classmates and how I never really belonged. I did it because my parents believed and I wanted to please them.
Since I no longer believed, how could I call myself a good parent and allow them to be teased and bullied because I couldn't be bothered make a stand one way or another. The good news was that shortly after making a stand myself, my wife started to research things on her own (unrelated to my arguments) and now we both raise our kids normally.
I'm still not big on holidays, but the kids just love them.
The biggest question would be, if you are okay with your children being raised as a witness, do you realize that one day they may be required to shun you because of your beliefs?
Not worth the risk in my opinion

This one's all for you Mouthy:
Our middle child (5y old) is essentially a nudist. We try to keep clothes on him, but he sheds them faster than we can put them on.
Well I am using the washroom and he comes in completely naked waiting his turn. In this time he decides to tell me his latest revelation about his *ahem* parts. He pulled back his foreskin to enlighten me on the fact that he discovered where his pee comes from.
He is really beaming with pride and then looks puzzled as he notices that daddy is circumcised.
A bit awkward, but I decide to tell my son about circumcision in about the easiest way that I possibly could to a five year old. I explain that when I was a baby the doctors cut off the extra skin and that's why I look different.
Well, his eyes get HUGE. He holds his little parts in a white knuckled fist and starts to scream. I have to reassure him that it won't happen to him, but I thought his reaction summed up what every man thinks of when considering it. -

We just tell ours that Nana and Grampy are mad with mommy and daddy. Which is true. We had to let them know that it wasn't something they did.
Our 5 year old went up to my wife and meekly offered to give up Christmas to make nana and grampy happy again. But next Christmas, because this one was so close.
Poor little guy.
My biggest dilemma is how to handle things when they hit their teens. My parents would dearly love to see their grand kids, they just don't want to see their own children. So rather than my kids getting upset with me later on for "denying" them their grandparents, I plan to invite them over once a month for supper and keep a log. If my kids ever ask why I denied them, then I'll let the grandparents explain why they turned down years worth of invites to come over.
The kids love their grandparents so much, I'd just hate to see them conned into becoming a witness later in life in an attempt to win the affections of their estranged grandparents. -

It is an part of human history to exploit others for personal gain. To date religion has been used as an easy means to do this.
I think removing religion would just make people find another means to exploit others. -

We got a Wii for Christmas and are loving it.
I am really impressed with the new Metroid title and the system overall, though I've had it crash a few times. Not used to consoles doing that, I thought that was just a XBOX feature. :p -
