I love the herd mentality. When bad news comes out some major players will dump their stocks. This creates unrest in the stock and others follow suit to avoid losing everything. The stock dips a few percentage points and the original players buy more back at a cheaper price. Those that followed the hysteria ended up selling low and potentially buying back high.
Depends on the news really if it's wise to sell your stock. But for most blue chip stocks, bad news is usually a blip on the radar and within a few days or weeks they're back to normal.
I'm one of the few people in the world that loves bad news.

what's in it for the women???
by chelsea ini have often wondered what's in it for the women???
i just read the story of minimus and it is so clear that such power and privilege on offer to males in the borg would be enticing and probably addictive... but the women will never have such offers or opportunities.
they will always be required to be in subjection.

Women are more likely to make decisions by emotions than men.
The watchtower teachings pull very hard on emotions. Out of all the members I would say that there are more women that truly believe than men. Men get to climb the power ladder and get respect just for having a title.
It is a great place for women to dress up and look nice and to gossip on the sidelines if they are so inclined. While the religion preaches subservience, my observations were that most JW women just let their power hungry husbands think they are in charge.
This doesn't take into account husbands that are naturally abusive, but those would be abusive regardless of religion. JW teachings just empower abusive mates. -

I tracked down an old post that I remembered summed up this website perfectly.
Jelly wrote: "I remember when this board first started I think simon was trying to set up a place for weak JW's to be helped out, even if they did not realize thats what they want yet. Kind of a board that was not over the top apostate but did have threads that questioned JW doctrine, and practices. There was another board like that about 3.5 years ago, I cant remember the name but you had sincere JW's and apostates on the same board. Some of the greatest posting entertainment I have ever read . Thats just my take, I could be completly off." -

Sheep, other sheep, other other sheep, Three classes of sheep?
by garybuss ini got this message from a forum member.. i think you may be confusing the wts' understanding of the "sheep" of matthew chapter 25 (who have not yet been separated from the "goats") and the "other sheep" of john chapter 10. the two groups are not (i.e.
no longer) considered synonymous.. .
what am i missing?

The whole sheep/Shepard thing is overdone in the bible. Sounds like your friend is mixing up the parables.
a) Jesus has a flock of sheep like ones. The little flock (anointed) and the other sheep (R&F)
b) The preaching work is likened to separating the sheep from the goats
Two different parables, though it sounds like your friend is combining them into one.
By his definition it would look like this:
1) Little flock
2) Other sheep already separated
3) Other sheep still in the goats
While it's a logical assumption, it's not official WT doctrine of three sheep class that I am aware of. -

As individuals, no I don't think they do. As a group, yes.
I'm sure when they were appointed to the GB they were excited with the prospect of feeling Jehovah's active force guiding them. Then like the Emperor's new clothes they just play along. Personally they don't feel moved by God, but the person next to you does, so you act like you are too so play the part. Eventually everyone sees each other naked but insists they see marvelous patterns and rich fabrics to hide their own shame.
On a personal level I think they rationalize that if they keep working towards "God's true way" eventually God will start working through them. -

Hi MichaelM,
I'd like to sell you my house. It's a great house with alot of extras. Everything is in perfect order and there are no flaws in the design.
The only condition is you cannot have a home inspector check the house out, oh and you cannot have it appraised. You can trust me right?
You'd never accept these conditions when buying a house, why would you accept them when considering a religion.
You may do the research, then decide to join anyways. At least you can say you made an informed decision.

Is your idea patented? If you are going to venture into the realm of selling this, you should look strongly at this idea. There are plenty of inventor predators out there that will see your idea and rip it off leaving you with little to no recourse.
It sounds like a interesting business idea, but treat it like that. I would suggest signing a formal agreement with this vendor. before providing a working solution. -

Is it appropriate for a stranger to comment on a woman's bruises?
by rebel8 inif you saw a woman in public, and said woman was a complete stranger to you, would you feel it's appropriate to discuss it with her (if you're concerned she is in an abusive relationship)?
if you did, would it be appropriate to do it within earshot of others?
and if she offered you an explanation other than abuse, how would you proceed?

I'd say that I fell down the stairs. Then look earnestly at them and say that you'd like to move to a place that has "less stairs" but you don't have any money. Then look startled and apologize for intruding and shuffle away.
Hey, with medical bills to pay, why not make a buck?
