Hey Kerj, I know what you are talking about. This particular test where they stick a cotton swab in your urethra is for gonorrhea and chlamydia. It's done when they think you could be at risk of having them. Usually, they do a urine test but it seems that the cotton swab test is more accurate because it gets cells from your urethra. I've had it done twice and it didn't hurt so much as it felt weird. After the test was done and I went home, every time I closed my eyes, I kept seeing the cotton swab going in and feeling the comfortableness I felt when the test was being performed. My teeth cringed lol But it wasn't that bad. Both times it came back neg. But it's weird your doctor made have the test without you telling her of any "symptoms". Usually they don't just do it right then and there. But it's good they came back neg. P.S. whoever said "use a condom", well using a condom reduces the risk but doesn't really prevent std's 100% because some of the std's are contagious by skin-to-skin contact. So if you have "symptoms", even if you've used protection each and every time, they do the tests but treat you for the "possibility" of having the std's. So they just give you a penicillin shot for gonorrhea and tablets for chlamydia. justahuman - but super nonetheless

May I direct your attention to pages 220 & 221?
by NotaNess inof the proclaimers book.
no doubt many of you have read this jw book on the wt version of the history and origins of the society.. my issue is on pages 220 and 221 where they "briefly" show some images of things and practices, that the org has abandoned.
some of these were practiced for many years, and even were at the very creation of the organization.. according to jw/wts teachings and beliefs, this organization has "pagan" origins based on the given evidence.

Just to play the devil's advocate here: The JW's can argue that Abraham's fathers/ancestors were pagans. Joshua made reference to the fact that Abraham's forefathers. It says "they" and it could even include Abraham although the WT when it explains Joshua 24:2, it makes it seem like it was only Terah who worshipped pagan gods for some time but not Abraham. I would assume that Abraham when growing up would've participated in pagan worship since his forefathers and his father did. However, that didn't make God not choose Abraham and Terah since they both left Ur and they both became worshipers of God. So, even though they at one time didn't worship God, they changed and did become worshipers of the true God and that's what counted with God, that they had changed their ways. justahuman - but super nonetheless

What's the intent of Mat.23:1-3 ?
by Hoping4Change inthen jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying: the scribes and the pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of moses; therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.
(mat.23:1-3 nasb).
i've been wondering a lot about what these verses.

I think the point Jesus was trying to make was that as far as religious authority, the priests, levites, pharisees and Sadducees were for the most part "born into" that privilege, esp. the priests. They were descendants of Aaron and as such, they were chosen to be priests and had authority to teach. But Jesus made it clear that they added to the law. They made it "heavier", stricter, for the people. Jesus said that the pharisees would "strain out the gnat", which was an unclean animal and therefore not to be eaten by the Jewish people, but at the same time, they would "gulp down the camel", which was bigger and just as unclean and forbidden for the Jewish people. It was all a show. They abused their position because no one could revoke their authority or rebel against it because it was congenital, in a way. Justahuman - but super nonetheless

If The Elders Decide To Get You-----They Will!!!
by minimus inplease never think that you can reason with an "older man", a "spiritual shepherd", an "elder".
elders already know what their agenda is.
if they want to talk with you, they control the format.

It's true. I refused to meet with the elders when I let them know I was going leave the Organization. They called me and said that it'd be wise to meet with them so they could help me with any spiritual weakness or help me finalize my leave. But I didn't call them back nor did I ever talk to them again. I wasn't afraid. I just didn't feel like dealing with any of them. justahuman - but super nonetheless

"Straight People" How do you handle it if a "gay" person "flirts" with you?
by booker-t inbefore i explain this question let me apologize to any person if this is an "offensive" question but i really am at a lost for an answer.
i work with a very nice guy at work and we have worked together for many years.
but lately i have to admit i have been alittle "uncomfortable" with some of his behavior.
-
Justahuman24
Well, are you sure he's gay? If he is, do you think he really likes you? Or is he just being friendly. Granted, guys aren't that friendly but just make sure before you reach any conclusions and make an ass of yourself. If he tells you he is attracted to you, then tell him you're straight and that you're flattered but that you don't swing that way. And would like to continue being friends but would also like for him to stop acting too friendly bcz it makes you feel uncomfortable. Btw, I'm gay. But if things are done and said in a respectful manner, no one should be or feel offended! Justahuman - but super nonetheless

Word/image Association: What does "Rainbow" make you think of?
by gaiagirl ina jw who works where i work saw a new age cd with an image of a rainbow on the cover, and immediately said "this is homosexual".
is this a widespread feeling among jw's, or fundamentalists in general?
-
Justahuman24
Rainbows are usually associated with gay communities/people because of the multi-colored flag that are displayed at the Gay PRIDE parades all over the world. Even though it has NOTHING to do with a real rainbow, mostly because a rainbow only has 7 colors I think and some of the colors on the "gay flag" are not colors in the rainbow, it's considered by many to look like a rainbow. I am not certain, but I think the multi-colors in the "gay flag" is to represent that gay people come from all nations, races (skin colors), heritages, etc. justahuman - but super nonetheless

Hiring a new fellow today and they must be white.
by hambeak inas some of you know i am a manager of an auto repair place that does it all.. the owner is ethiopian and hates blacks.
i had a great guy there who is black and did a great job.
the owner absolutely was rude and nasty to him calling him an animal and ordered him fired because he was slow in getting things done.. i am caught in the middle cuz i need my job to pay the bills so no more black or mexican workers just white folks even though most i have seen are not motivated or see something that has to be done so now i am a baby sitter and have to let them know what has to be done every minute of the day.. oh well such is the life working for foreigners here in the usa..
-
Justahuman24
Well, I thought that by census definition, ethiopians are not considered blacks. All of North Africans and Middle Eastern people are considered white/caucasian by the U.S. Gov. So, maybe he thinks he's better because of that. justahuman - but super nonetheless

WW!
by thebiggestlie inokay this is just a short little observation.
the jws often point to wwi as a sign that the last days had started in october of 1914 when christ was supposedly enthroned as king in heaven and begun his parousia (or his presence as theyd lead one to believe).
now the political unrest that led up to wwi had already been brewing for a while but it wasnt until28th of june 1914, gavrilo princip, a bosnian serb student, shot and killed the archduke of austria franz ferdinand.

It is true that WWI started before the enthronement of Jesus as King in the Heavens and the cast of Satan from Heaven according to the JW's date. BUT it could be argued by any JW's that Satan was always allowed to do whatever he wanted on the earth. He was also allowed to persecute True Christians during the "weed" and "wheat" cohabitation. And although Satan may not have known his being cast down from Heaven was imminent, he's always been doing bad things, turning man against man, causing wars, etc.
