i went to visit my parents last night.

id been there for about 10 minutes when my mother looks at me and asks if i can give her 20 dollars.

sure, no problem.

I would not give it to her but tell her that you gave it to a poor person on the street, and do that. Then give her a scripture to hand to the brother

Then tell her that this Bethel life is not scripturally supported, living off others and tell your parents that you would give to them in a heart beat but not to this.

I scammed a Craigslist scammer!

i had a dresser for sale on craigslist and as so often occurs some guy wants to buy it and have his shipper pick it up- i emailed him and told him that craigslist says he had the m-o of a crook.. he emails me back and say he is still interested and will pay the fullprice, so i changed the emailed header from re: dresser $55 to re: dresser $955 and emailed back was he ok with the price and how did he want to pay for it.

his english has the syntax of someone who uses it as a 2nd language- he never saw or the mentioned the price change i did!.

so, true to form he was going to send me a cashiers check - for $3000 and i was to keep out my money and then send a western union mailgram for the difference to the shipper in a city 300 miles away- .

when we discuss scriptural teachings, christian conduct, morals, ect... why is jehovah's witnesses considered the measuring stick or the bar to beat or meet?.

why not the bible, why not another religion?

why is jehovah and christ looked at through the witnesses eyes or perceived representation?.

Did God ever Exist?

reading so many posts on atheism which is the belief that there is no god, and reading comments from creationists made me ponder if there was an alternate reason for our existence.. if god is up there, why does he permit suffering?

if i were god, i wouldn't of let it happen in the first place, these are my children, why would i let them suffer?

maybe i am influenced by my creationist upbringing and beliefs while a jw, because i find it hard to wrap my brain around the idea that everything came from nothing.

so this is it, the exercise thread.

share your tips and experiences and tell us what worked best for you, how you managed to lose the weight and whether or not you kept it off as time went on.

how did you keep your motivation long term?

I exercise 5-6 times a week, I have a bowflex which I love, I also do pushups just once a week but I do 1000 in an hour and a half

Pushups I start with my first set at 95, then 90, then 85 all the way back to 20, then pop out three sets of 30. I usually do three different ab exercises as filler between sets

Bowflex- One day I do shoulders and arms heavy, I also use 40, 35, 30lb dumbell weights with curls and military presses, Abs as filler exercise

Legs- A lot of squats, leg extensions, leg curls, Abs as filler exercise

Abs- One day devoted to just abs, 5 different exercises with over 650 reps

Cardio-Winter stationary bike/ Nice weather- ride a rail trail usually do 23 miles in 1 hour 25 minutes, not road riding, try to do either 2 or 3 days, I will mix it up and run once every other week.

Rest 1-2 days a week and then take off about every 5th or 6th week. Fast 4 times a year and watch my diet pretty strict for at least 6 days a week. I allow myself one day a week for what I want.

New track work

once again the witnesses are being pushed out there for new track work, inviting people to the district convention for the summer.. this is the third time in a few months that they go nuts in trying to cover their territory.. another way to try to get the dead witnesses out there and preach.. when will it end?

Isn't the light supposed to be getting brighter?

ask any jw about the flip-flops in doctrine, and within a few moments, you'll be hearing about proverbs 4:18, the one about the "path getting brighter".

i.e., "our understanding has increased, so we had to make an adjustment.".

i was just thinking about the last major changes in jw doctrine over the past dozen years or so...does this sound like light getting "brighter"?.

How stunningly gorgeous is this?!!

since i moved here in february i have been lovely tending to my friend hisbiscus.

its gone from pruned stems to growing buds to finally flowering.

this morning when i woke up i was excited to see how the petals had lengthened and seemed about to open - but i had no idea how far.

Thanks Crumpet, they are stunning. I love flowers as they are a marvel of creation, such intricate designs.

I cant wait until it is planting time here.
