What's going on in your world, good or bad? What has happened recently that you'd like to share? How's your health? How is school? How are your kids?
My update -- got back yesterday from a one-month trip to Indiana and New Mexico to see relatives. Nice to see relatives, curses on the sick person on the plane who gave his cold to me. I was sick for about 10 days of my trip. Went to Bosque del Apache in NM to see Sand Hill Cranes. Saw hundreds of them, plus other water birds and plenty of hawks. Saw red cardinals in Indiana, first time in my life to see the real birds. So cool! Hellish trip home, 17 hours of traveling, 4 airports, 3 flights. Had seats where I was squished between large men on all flights. Could have been fun, but wasn't. Got home, today bright sunshine, blue sky, gorgeous mountains and forest.
Give me some news!!!

i resigned in the early 70's---but dithered as a guest at meetings for a few years--to keep marital peace.
but no field service at all--honest lol.. all connection to the cult ended in jan 1981---i had an affaire with a married sister--she got d/f--but--i'm told----it was announced=--i couldnt be d/f as i was no longer a jw---but was declared to be an apostate !!.

i am so nervous,after thirty odd years in the "truth" i feel as though my husband and i have just walked into a room full of smiling strangers and we are just standing here hoping to god someone will come up and speak to us.

Yes, please breathe and relax. You and your family go out and find some fun stuff to do together. It's hard to learn how to make new connections after years of being in the cong. with ready-made associations, but you can do it.
You'll never regret your decision to leave that org., and your kids will be much happier in their lives because you did.

wallet, nail file, pen, checkbook (completely unused - who writes checks anymore?), kleenex, little bottle of the alcohol gel stuff for cleaning my hands, mints, spare glasses
I think that's it -- if it's urgent I can actually go and look in my purse.

I agree it's an ongoing project. Too bad life is so short, since we learn so much toward the end. I'm always trying to improve, also have a few goals I'd like to reach before the end. We'll see.

Bipolar Landlady kicks me out!
by Terry infun times.. a year and a month have passed since i moved in to the house where my cousin deb and her husband bobby live.. i had a small but comfortable room, tv, etc.. a nice cozy family situation, you might say....right?.
i pay $600 a month to defray expenses.. hunky dory.. sure.
until the first few eruptions!.

I didn't read the whole thread through yet. Just want to say that you should go to the finance department at the hospital and tell them the truth. You can't pay that bill off. You will never be able to pay off 48K$ on SS income. If they won't work with you, now is the time to file for bankruptcy.
Let your daughter know your circumstances, take some help if she offers it.
Immediately go sign up at all the senior housing places in your area. I live in a senior apartment complex, and my rent is 30% of my adjusted income. It's the only way I'd make it on SS income. You may be on a waiting list for a bit, but sooner or later your name will come up and you'll have a permanent place to live.
