My brother died yesterday
by satinka in"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.
i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.
the doctors said it was a heart attack.

China puts the squeeze on US media
by Hortensia inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-echochambers-25272500.
i wonder what would happen if the chinese started buying up these huge news conglomerates, maybe put times in their back pocket, buy a bunch of agencies like reuters.
news is already very selective, depending on who owns the news media.. social media, like twitter, facebook and so forth, prevent news from being totally hidden, but those outlets are very capricious in content.

So that's what's wrong with the world? God is too busy promoting her career to pay attention to starving kids? Oh well, we all know god is an asshole.

How would you respond?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inok so this is a conversation that i am having with a friend that i really love.

I read your post not long after you wrote it, but didn't really have any answer. It's interesting to read the ideas other folks have given you.
I don't think there's anything you could say that would change your friend's mind. I guess your answer to the email depends on what results you want. To reveal your true thoughts by answering those questions completely would certainly cause your friend to think of you as an apostate.

I had an engagement ring with a central ruby and tiny diamonds on each side. I liked it, very pretty.

Thinking of taking a break from this forum
by yadda yadda 2 instarting to feel my time is wasted on here lately and its time to move on.. some of the best, meaty stuff only gets a few hundreds views and as soon as the posts dry up a bit the thread is soon forgotten (usually in a few days) under the constantly falling snowflakes of new threads (many trival) continuously being created and popping up as 'active topics'.
the same core jw related subjects then keep reappearing over and over again as new threads without getting a thorough treatment at the time (eg, there must be at least one 'are jw's a cult' thread started each week on here; 'new light' topics get about 20 new threads started with the quality of analysis spread and diluted over all of them.).
anyone else tend to feel the same way at times?.

What is interesting to you might not be all that interesting to others who post here. Lots of people here and they are all different.
Of course, I'm one of those people who posts trivial stuff. Bite me.

Ice storm in Texas - climate change happening yet?
by Simon inso, with the ice storm hitting texas does this mean that they will now accept climate change is real?.
or will they just try firing guns at the clouds ....

I have heard many people go from denying climate change to just being resigned to dealing with it. Typical, no pro-active steps taken.
I live in Northern California. I check the temps every day to see how we're doing. All summer we had above normal temperatures -- about 10 degrees F. above normal all summer. Then when it got cold, we went to 10 to 17 degrees F. BELOW normal. I wonder if that's the trend for NoCal -- hotter summers and colder winters.
Climate change will become a harsher reality to California if we don't get enough snow or rain this winter -- this is the driest year in California since 1895. It's very sad to drive on the bridge over Lake Shasta and see how low the water is.

Set an example for the congregation in how to take care of your wife/family. Your wife needs you, the cong. really doesn't need you.
I always love to hear from a man who loves his wife == good for you.
