A SCIENTIFIC COMMENTARY ON GENESIS 1
by FireNBandits init's worhy of note that john 1:1 is also anarthrous, "in beginning.
" this is because the bible doesn't tell us about the beginning or it would say "the" beginning.
an infinite series of beginnings being alluded to.. .

I can't believe they just sat there...
by troubled mind insaturday i photographed a witness wedding .
during the part about the woman's role the speaker made the comment to the new bride ,"don't try to manipulate your husband .....we know how you women can be ...!".
my jaw noticeably dropped and i uddered " what the heck " as i looked around to look for support from other women there,.

years after I faded I married a Presbyterian man. We got married in his church because it meant a lot to him, but I wasn't sure what the rules would be. however, the minister was really nice, told me I was old enough to know my own mind so he wouldn't use the word "obey" in the marriage vows. Told me all brides wear white, he didn't want me to be any different - I thought that was a tactful way of totally avoiding the topic of virginity or the lack of it. It was a very nice wedding, unlike any JW weddings I have ever attended. The only JW contribution was that my parents wouldn't go into the church, so they watched the wedding through the window - which puzzled everyone there considerably. Strange Jw stuff...

Did you ACTUALLY do this?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inas part of your "dedication and baptism" did you actually go to jehovah in prayer and "dedicate" your life to him prior to your baptism?
at the time when the elders were reviewing the "questions" with me, i hadn't a clue that i was supposed to do this until one of them asked directly.
i answered in the affirmative anyway ... wanting the incessant questioning to be over as quickly as possible.

yes I did, I actually prayed a dedication of myself to Jehovah, feeling awkward about it the whole time. Never could pray very well, it seemed soooooooo wrong and I just didn't relate to Jehovah, but I went and got baptized anyway. Didn't have much effect on me or my life - I was just doing it for approval anyway, but the JWs specialize in never approving.

How to speak to anyone
by darth frosty inone of the most recurring problems for those unplugging themselves from the borg is finding new friends and establishing a new support group.
i thought this was a great e-book to overcome that problem.

Have you ever been caught doing something naughty at a KH or at the door???
by chelsea inokay i never got caught in the act, but right before my exit at the age of 16 i wrote on the whiteboard (during hall cleaning) "chelsea loves dave".
during the public talk the whiteboard came out and there it was... there were no other chelsea's so i'm sure they knew it was me.
the speaker said "we don't want to know about chelsea and dave...ha ha ha" and rubbed it off the board.

fortunately no, as I did some seriously bad things at the hall. Never got caught, although I got caught on minor things like not paying attention or passing notes to a friend.

oh dear, I didn't mean anyone here is a wienie!!! I meant the WTBTS is a wienie! That was the most backpeddling piece of tripe I have read in a long time - that quote about 1975. I'm sorry!!! I seem to be apologizing a lot today. Maybe I'd better go sit in a corner.

As a witness, how would you have handled this scripture?
by NotaNess inphilippeans 1:15-18 (nwt).
if someone you were witnessing to at a door or on the street presented you with this scripture, and told you that paul supported even false intensions about christ, in fact he rejoiced in it.
in other words if witnesses have issues with "false religion" or some church leaders(on tv) out there acting like big supporters of the gospel, but they're really in it for the money, how would you handle that paerson saying that paul rejoiced in it?

well I had to chuckle. I am famous for not noticing what's in front of my nose. I didn't look at the red print, thought it was more of that advertising that is all over the place. Sorry! I take it all back.

"...and your wife's a Jehovahs Witness?"
by bigmouth inhad to take my wife to a&e on thursday with chest pain.
(she's fine btw) the receptionist went through her personal details with me and, of course, asked if she was still a jw.
i got a little fright and quickly said "no, not any more.

with computers now it seems anyone can find any information about you and businesses keep all kinds of details. The hospital probably just had the information from her previous visit to the hospital or from her doctor's office. My doctor's office just went totally paper free with patient records and any doctor in the complex can log on and see my records. In the process they checked again with me about my religion (or lack thereof.) I don't think you need to worry about it.
