ha!
just heard this from a friend of mine ((he doesn't know i feel the way i do about wbts)) out in the seattle area.
the normal convention days of friday-sunday were originally announced way back in january, now due to the society getting an exceptional deal from the tacoma dome, they agreed to move the convention from thursday-saturday ((this was announced a couple of months ago)) so the jonas brothers could play their show on sunday.
Interesting, this is a first as far as I've experienced, almost 50yr in. We were assigned to Tacoma for many years until the last few I was in and then it was Kenniwick, Wa. I do remember one CA was detoured because of snow on the mountain pass. They quickly got a local high school gym and on went the show. We were bummed out for missing the 'canceled' opportunity...YEAH Free Weekend. NOT
But I don't think it is all that unusual for venues to have other programs between Jdub conventions. We did a number of take-down, put-ups over the years. Damm hard work when the bean counting Jdubs could have flexed their schedule
on may 19th, theodore jaracz had a stroke.
he's in very serious condition in the hospital.. that's all the information i have for now.. barb.
Has the Launching Pad started it's countdown....10, 9, 8, 7.......
A young fellow, perfect example, wore a tie from the age of 2, gave first talk at 4, pioneer at 14, went to Bethel, back home married the perfect beautiful pioneer, parts on all assemblies and Big Conventions stated studing with inmates at the local jail. It came out a year later that he was having 'affairs' with these male students during the so called 'studies' He was DF'd, divoriced and back in within a year. No longer any title but I still see him 'out in service' from time to time...... They are all NF's.
hey all,.
i have noticed many of the elders in my hall are now calling the wtbs "mother" from the stage during their talks now.
it happens at least once per meeting.
I heard it on and off over 50yrs I was a dub. Usually from someone closely connected to NY HQ. My mom was a liberal Jdub and always rolled her eyes at the careless euphemism use. One old timer, former CO and Grand Poobah around here took me aside one time when I questioned some insturction in a letter from NY. He pointed his finger at me and said, 'we Do Not question MOTHER"
i just learned there was a service meeting part last week on how to treat df ones.
the person i heard this from said it was very hard on many in her congo.
did anyone attend that meeting or has there been discussion here?
Oops sorry, how did that happen, posted the same sub twice? Can someone delete or tell me how?

I have not visiting here for a long time so hello to everyone. Life is good and I have mostly moved but it's sure nice to know I can pop back in occasionally for the latest Jdub scoop.

personally, i love chicken pot pie with a real pie crust---not the flaky puff topping..
KRAFT Mac & Cheese It has to be Kraft, no off brand. And NO Trader Joes is not just as good.
Yes homemade is Wonderful but it is a different food all together. A box will sit in my pantry up to a year and then the day will come, I need it, gotta have it, OMG, I eat the whole box all by myself.
what do you think of the boss playing this year?
who would you like to see in the future?
what acts did you like or dislike in the past?
As a die-hard Bruce fan, having The BOSS as half time show was a treat. I sat in on the Super Bowl party for the free beer and Bruce but what I got was an action filled game to boot. Not a big football fan but that was a great game. Seemed 'Born to Run' was a fitting theme song.
Tom Petty did a good job last year and Bro Prince rocked the house a couple years back. Areo Smith was good as I remember. I'd like to see some Jazz, maybe Herbie Hancock in the future. Or a Big Production Vegas type show. How to cut it to 12 min, hum, glad I'm not a producer.
