The JW experience....is the soul ever healed?...A BIG RANT.

i just wrote about my life between 11 and 12......i am now 48 years old.

it came back to me in huge drowning waves that i cannot describe.

the anger, depression, humiliation..... do any of us ever get to recover totally?

I think the soul heals, but the scar tissue is still there. All can be going fine, then you get zapped by seeing a JW, or a past memory. I guess we will be processing what happened for the rest of our lives.

So true some times it can be a passing thought or memory that can get brought back.

I have been out for about 13 years i have been ok with it for the majority of this time but until late last year when i found JWD and other issues had come about i was a mess again but it was a good mess as i was finally been able to put things into place and perspective.

But ranting and venting here is good

don't look at horoscopes or read anything about your sign because it's demonized !

Suicide

i know it's a touchy subject, but anyone here has ever thought of suicide while they were still in the organization?

it seem to me that jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of suicide than the rest of the population.

i contemplated suicide myself when i was struggling to get piece of my life back together after being raised as a "perfect little jw" when i was young.

This is a hard one.

Only a few months a go one of the guys i used to havng out with committed suicide leaving a young family:(

But i know of the cong that i grew up in there have been 5 in the last 10 years.

Personally no not whilst i was a jw i did suffer from depression but only realising it on later year i guess it was more out of mere frustration.

I have been well since i had left.

Though after i had my son in 04 i deveoped post natal depression really bad, it took them nearly 12 months to get things right with me and then another 6 months for it to work, there were a few occasions that i just didn't want to live any more... It was scarry when i came out of it. I couldn't believe that i could think like that. The only thing that kept me alive was who would look after my kids and that i wouldn't see them grow up.

Now i am happy and not stressed any more and things are going our way. I'm even been off medication ( i hate taking tablets of any kind) for the last few months and have been able to get back to work again.

Life is great.

My nan's Funeral

was yesterday.

it went reasonably ok, i didnt make any effort to speak to my parents instead i went and chatted to other family members i havnt seen in years.

i also had hubby's mum and dad there too for support.

Where Do We Really Go When We Die ?

oh, boy.

just had these thoughts rattling around in my head a few days, so wanted to get your takes.

my college son and i were talking and he said a fellow worker in his 50's said he had been aware his mother was sick and dying in another town , but had not died yet.

I think those who have had supernatural experiences are more open to those who have not.

I am not one of those persons but wish to have that kind of experience.

Me i believe that they do reach out to loved ones when they pass.

Also i believe that their spirit do go on in others like reincarnation.

I so believe my grandmothers spirit is in my daughter.She died (my grandmother)when i was 6 months pregnant

On the way back from the grocery store....afternoon chuckle!!

we went shopping this afternoon, my two little girls and i, on the way home, they were both excitedly talking about halloween.

my youngest, who is seven, lets out this comment that nearly had me veering off the road with laughter.

she said, "i know what i want to be for halloween already, a jehovah's witness" well, i started to laugh right away, my eldest girl asked her why, she says, "they knock on people's door all the time and they are really scary".

Spouses of JW's who attend meetings but never get baptized

i know one who has attended meetings for 42 years, he knows it's a bunch of crap, but he loves his wife and doesn't want to mess up their relationship.

he is actually quite wealthy--maybe that makes a difference.

he doesn't have to worry about how to pay the bills.

I'm not sure if my grandfather ever attended meetings but i know that the JWs always visited their house for social gatherings it was the place to be.

He still gets visits from the JWs every now and again but it wore off while i iwas living there.

He doesnt believe in it at all and he thinks its to involved and he now dislikes them even more so on what they have made his family become.

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?

154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

No i recognise the hurt it has caused by the way of me being DF.

When i was going through the questions i just said what they wanted to hear.

I knew i was doing it all for the wrong reasons but it was the only way at that time i could be acepted.

I never even said out loud yes to all the questions at the DC.

I can't even remember the date or year but i know that i was 17 at the time(and did know better)

If You Didn't Have The Internet & Places Like This, Would U Still Be a JW?

clearly, the internet and sites like this one helped get me out.

once i started continuously reading how the organization and watchtower writings were bogus, i couldn't help but get out!

By reading all the previous comments im supprised the number of posters who left well before the internet.

Me i left before internet as well or when it first come of age.

But fhis has help with putting things into place.

Potty training kids and different views...

when i was growing up, i remember my parents would put those plastic "cover" things over my sisters panties and put those protective sheets on the bed to help them with potty training.

especially when they were doing great with using the potty on their own during the daytime.. my aunt in texas would beat her kids arses if they wet the bed.

(now i do not agree with this way).

Our youngest is slowly getting it, but he takes great offense to any help whatsoever. If we catch him going on the toilet and offer praise we are met with a loud "NOOOOO" then the door is quickly closed. He values his privacy I guess.

I get this from my three year old.....lol.....

When i trained my daughter for the night time it was easy as i would be getting home from work aroud 11/12 at night so i would wake her up and take her, this was great and did it over a fornight, we still had the occasional accident but had an extra sheet and protector under the top ones so no remaking the bed of a night.

But now with my son its a bit harder as the nights are COLD and i guess i haven't really tried hard enough but he had gotten up a few mornings recently with a dry nappy.

Pull ups are a great idea but yes they are expensive and a waste of mony my son thinks they are a nappy and still just goes to the toilet in them.

You may have to talk to the g/parents with your concern and look up so info that may help them with taking her to the toilet.

BTW what time do they go to bed around 9/10 pm if so they may be able to take her before they go to bed(depending what time your daughter goes to bed) and if they are early risers may have to wake your daughter up then and take here. Just another option.
