one funny thing about this topic is, that as a JW you think JWs are ALWAYS honest hearted, loving and kind people - no matter what. you may say "but theres sister xy who did yx!". that may be true, but if she did it shes not a JW. yay!
of course other churches cant use this trick. if a catholic priest molests a child its the whole church which is bad.

Do Witnesses have a Stronger Brotherhood than Christendom Does?
by gumby inthis came up in discussion between me and a fellow ex-dub buddy of mine.. as jw's, we had a brotherly unity.....at least many of us did.
if we were going somewhere and needed a witness to watch our place....even stay at our place, we had no reserves about being ripped off by them.
they were closer than some families members oftentimes and we even preferred being around them as opposed to "wordly" family members.

tough question. i would like to know the answer too.
ive seen JWs stealing when the chance is there (even in the congregation). betrayers, liars, haters (in the back). gossip is a huge thing for JWs. and i think its couraged by the WTS... even though they say its wrong. but its that "what did brother xy do wrong?"-thing that helps the ball stay rolling.
but of course ive seen wonderful friends (as long as they stay the same faith of course), great trust and some kind of love.
to me (and i dont have a clue) it seems like JWs actually HAVE some unity. its way from perfect and in any congregation youll find some serious problems behind the curtain... but... i dont think i could find better in the church...
the only problem may be to use JWs "unity" as proof for being the "chosen ones". -

Do zealous dubs think they will be blessed more?
by JH inas a dub, were you under the impression that the more you served the watchtower org., the more god would bless you in the new system?
the more you were involved serving god as a jw, the more blessings you'd receive in the new system, or were you under the impression that everybody would be blessed equally, no matter how much they did, as long as they survived armageddon.. could this explain why some are more zealous than other in the org?
thinking they will blessed more than those who did less.. .

when i was a good JW i wouldve answered: "everyone equally" and wouldve though secretly "so, whats the point in doing pioneers work... would some ppl be destroyed because they could've been full-time pioneer but only went aux?"

Revelation Study This Week - Russell and 1914
by jgnat ini'm on revelation duty again this week.
i figure if i'm marking it, i can comment on it, too.

i visited the book study this week too and i was about to scream too. funny that the "newspaper" snippet they published too was telling the truth that 1914 was supposed to be armageddon, but NOONE noticed it. aaaaah! wtf?!
the footnote in that box was funny too...
i sense heavy rotating movements in H.G. Wells grave... -

The 144,000...How do JWs get that only 144K are going to Heaven?
by A-Team in...using bible scripture (i knwo they can quote whatever the wts says about it, but im trying to understand how do they come to that conclusng using bible verses.
also, in doing a little research, there is something very interesting that came up, and i never ever hear this from the jw.
they always claim that the 12 tribes in rev.

My Husband is Lost to THEM
by Mrs. Witness ini need some support, some suggestions, and perhaps a gut-check.
my husband was baptized in march.
he was raised from the time he was about 7 until his mom kicked him out at 15 (wasn't she loving?

hello mrs. witness!
deep symphathy from me for you. im in a situation which is very similar in some ways. im a raised and officially active jw though. but my marriage is at the very same crossroads (just without children. i dont want kids with THAT kind of questions still open).
hope you can help him. but dont forget: being too harsh with a witness just proves for him, that satan is trying to lure him away. too much critics may be (mis-)interpreted as proof for the truth (lol).
the main problem i see being a non-witness spouse of a witness is that the congregation tries to build up a wall between your husband and you. even though they arent allowed to leave you you are always "the problem", the extra hardness the witness have to endure. loving elders help your spouse to stay strong in faith even though he/she had YOU as him/her wife/husband.
its a sad imaginiation for me :/ i fear that will happen to me when i leave someday. -

When you were a dub, did you shun DF/DA'd people?
by exwitless inactually, in my 14 years as a dub, it only came up with one person in our cong.
who got pregnant out of wedlock (and used drugs during pregnancy).
she was df'd but still came to most meetings.

Marcel
when i was younger i shunned many. i didnt know why they are df or they da themselves. but i knew they were wrong regardless in what matter. and that was why i shunned them or while in service looked at them with disrespect. oh my god, i was so wrong about that. its so embarassing and cruel :/ a 16 year old looking at you with disrespect because of nothing. :/ no close friends though. my close friends wasnt caught doing wrong or repented good enough.
when i started seriously doubting and a close friend was dfed i didnt shun him completely. "hello" on the street, smile in the congregation, full contact on the internet. now hes reinstated. he never quit being a believer. hes not an ideal dub, but still a dub.
i wont ever shun someone else again. if armageddon really comes and god likes the dubs and not me, because i was too friendly to fellow humans who are weak in faith i can live with that (errrhh... no i can die with that). -

How Many People Here Have Been "Disciplined" By The Elders?
by minimus inby "discipline" i mean, either private, public reproof, disfellowshipping or something that got you in enough trouble that you had to be counseled by the loving shepherds and it cost you something by not having "privileges".
-
Marcel
not really. i lost some privileges because i stopped being a model-witness. thats all. im a nice boy. and they dont know my depths lol. :D

Fading In? Am I nuts?
by jaydoe ini am a baptized jw that faded some years back.
in those days i deeply believed in the org and became disillusioned by some things happening in the local congregation.
following some research on the net i decided to fade out of watchtower existence because i did not want to keep mixing with false religion (or so i thought at the time).
-
Marcel
i dont think you're nuts. even if this board is MUCH about the bad sides of the JWs there is still a good side (yes, really). and what you believe is up to you. so if you can live with the arguments against them and you know what youre doing its all fine. thats my believe.

New Here, My Personal Story
by johannahw ini have thought off and on about the jws for years.
my little sister brenda converted about 30 years ago and raised two sons in the truth as she called it.
one boy, mason, is still being raised as a jw (he is 15) and my other nephew, aaron, left the organization on his 18th birthday.
