  About the GB, over the years

  dear everyone.

  following the death of carey barber, and the subsequent postings about how long all the gb chaps seem to live, i thought i'd do a bit of work on the composition of the gb over the years.. i have attached (i hope) a couple of graphs showing the results of the work.. i took as my starting date 1974, when there were, it seems, 17 members at an average age of 65. by 1977 there had been 3 deaths, and in 1977 there were 4 appointments, at an average age of 71.. over the next 17 years there were half-a-dozen deaths, and 3 resignations, including the spectacular ray franz incident, but remarkably, not a single appointment in all that time.

  perhaps the gb when it was set up in the early 70's had over-recruited.

  I wonder why the younger age members and if they will be more "open minded" than the older GB members.

  like many of you whose posts i've read, i am having trouble not loosing all of my faith at once.

  when the cloak starts to fall, you begin to doubt everything.

  one thing i think i believe, though- a person needs a set of principles to use as a moral compass.

  Treat other people the way you want to be treated!!

  As far as getting out of the truth, oops I mean the "lie", you have to decide what is best for you. I don't think that matters as much as you getting out and unwashing your brain. Whatever you choose, it's a long process!

  GOD CREATED THE EARTH FOR, ummm, MAN, ummm, DINOSAURS!!

  is there any sensible reply from inerrency addicts concerning the earth being created for man when there is such overwhelming evidence that dinosaurs had the earth to themselves for millions of years?.

  my son is 16 years old.

  he has a teacher at school who tells him god created the earth already "old" and with buried dinosuar bones to test the faith of believers.. this is the demonstration of a crippled intellect!.

  When a family member has bi-polar.

  as some of you know, my daughter has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.

  its been years of dealing with it, until a proper diagnosis, plus she has addictions....alcohol and drugs.

  she did get approved for disability and just now has medical benefits.

  Hey purps,

  I'm sorry your daughter is going thru this, but part of me is happy to have someone to relate to. Maybe we can help each other, as other members have offered their insight into this situation, we can get knowledge and strength from discussing with other people who have been there and are there now!!!

  Not to steal purps thread - but my son called me today asking me to come and get him out (he's in the phsyc ward, in another state), I asked him if he remembered all the nasty names he'd called me over the past couple days and he claimed he didn't, so I connected him to 3 way and replayed all the saved messages, he hung up around message #5!!!

  I think being consistant with how we handle loved ones, be it our children, parents, siblings or friends is what matters.

  Hang in there purps, I know I'm trying!!!

  it would be alot easier if they had symbols on here for everyone below their names.

  i dont know if they do or not.. i try to back the jws, but i dont know if i am talking to athiests, other christians, disfellowshiped ones, or people who just left the truth.

  it would be nice to know sometimes.. you might ask why i would wanna know because i should answer everyone the same way, but on here you cant.

  I am anti-JW all the way - was raised in it and left it just as soon as I could!!!! Always hated it from a very early age and I hate the trauma it left behind from my childhood. Still have family in, but never really had JW friends so I don't feel I'm missing anything!!

  You want signs? As Crumpet said if you saw me walking down the street you wouldn't know if I was JW, Baptist, Agnostic, Moslim (unless I wore the veil) or any other religion, sect, or cult!

  You should get to know people for who they are, contrary to JW belief, JW's are not the only nice people on this earth.

  i have been to a few christian churches, but not many.

  i just had a few questions.

  my buddies are from springfield ( the christian belt city) and as i already noted in another post we have discussed religion for.

  being as most people on here are not jw backers, dont these things seem just as wierd and if not more than what everybody says about jws

  Not more weird just a different kinda weird. You have to admit that JW's are pretty darn weird, you know with their own language, culture!

  what a rollercoaster the last couple of days has been.

  having been prompted gently and lovingly by husband 'besty' i have examined my faith, sorry the organisation, and finally realised that he has been right all along in his reservations.

  i feel all sorts of emotions, mainly happiness at finally feeling free - no more meetings (i never could see why we had to attend 3 a week and always felt stressed about taking the babies along when they should be in bed!

  i think i was a faithful skeptic for many years.

  i kept wanting to see something controversial that they addressed directly and honestly.

  We were required (by parents) to highlight certain parts and required to comment or attempt to comment on 4 minimum.

  So I yellow highlighted like crazy, choose 4 items to comment on and raised my hand just enough so mom and dad could see, but not the guy on the platform. Sometimes this got me in trouble!!!

  Gay/Lesbian Symbols

  the whole rainbow thread piqued my curiosity.

  i have often wondered how you know without speaking to someone if they are gay and you are not in a known gay place - like um brighton or the candy bar in london.. does anyone know of any other gay and lesbian symbols or signs?.

  someone told me once that a ring on your pinkie was a sign - can anyone verify the truth of this?.
