Is a "nappy-headed ho" the same thing as a "bleached-blonde bimbo" only of a different color? Would the BBB remark have stirred up this much controversy? Thoughts please..................

Count-Down 7: Self Awareness and the Soul
by Amazing inno one has ever been able to explain to me just how we, as products of evolution, can possibly have sentience and self awareness.
(i understand and accept that humans evolved.
how come i am aware that i am jim whitney, a middle aged male, instead of being a young female named sarah smith?

Have you read "The Science of God" by Gerald L. Schroeder? It has some fascinating insight regarding matter and spirit, science and religion. It opened my mind and addressed a lot of my thoughts on just what our soul really is or might be. Schroeder has a doctorate from MIT and is also an applied theologian. It used modern science to reconcile biblical truths in a way that's logical and understandable.

For comedy: Two and a Half Men
For pure mind-numbing entertainment, the continuing saga of: Desperate Housewives
For issues that touch me because there's so many levels of the story: Boston Legal
(Oh, and we have a channel here that shows reruns of "Star Trek Next Generation" my all-time fav.)

I guarantee your mil sees Jehovah looking down upon her with a scorecard in his big hand. If she can just prove her faithfulness to him by cutting her daughter out of her life, she will earn BIG POINTS.
I feel so sorry for the position this cult puts mothers in when it comes to this sort of thing. I know personally at least one mother that suffered severe mental problems eventually over what she thought she had to do to serve Jehovah and keep his organization clean. At first, she will feel so spiritually strong but over time, it will eat away at her heart and mind because deep down inside she will come to know the pain and suffering she inflicted was not God-directed but man-directed. When she realizes it is too late, it will take its toll on her mentally. It will have already taken its toll on those she hurt.
Tell her to pray about it. Say: Don't pray that you have the strength to obey the FDS. Pray to your father to help you know in your heart what He wants you to do. God is Love and Love would never expect a mother to do that to her own flesh and blood.

I would like to be immune from having to sit and listen to the convoluted twisting of scripture to fit a doctrine. (See "Are Cats for Christians". This little piece of writing says it all.)

Of course, you're absolutely correct. I forgot about the European difference in spelling certain words. And thank you for the information regarding the correct number of periods. Not to be nitpicking, but your use of the word "anymore" was incorrect. It should be "any more". Anymore means "at the present; from now on". When talking about amount, it's two words. (I hope you know I'm just continuing the scrutiny in good humor...that's "humour" in Europe.)

You should have said you did it on purpose just to see if anyone would catch it. If I make a typo and fail to catch it, I feel horrible like it's sticking out like a sore thumb. But I really don't think most people notice or care. My hubby is a super intelligent guy, but he's one gawdawful speller. He says that's what spellcheck is for.

Bigmouth...........it's criticize, not criticise. (I'm just kidding with you guys....not being critical. But since TheSilence turned it into a spelling critique, thought I'd continue the scrutiny.)
