  DELILAH'S STRANGE EXPERIENCE......

  ok, i wasn't sure if i should post this, but was convinced by buttlight someone who shall remain nameless.

  i was talking to delilah the other day (she hasn't been posting because their computer broke down a few months ago).

  she had a bizzarre experience at work a couple of weeks ago that really freaked her out.. the friday before easter, one of the women who works on her floor, was passing flyers out inviting people to a worship service that weekend.

  Maybe she just had on thick dark eye liner or dark eye shadow and simply closed her eyes or looked down exposing the dark eye shadow and the way the light struck made it appear that way. I don't know, but it could have happened that way.

  Baffled.......that otherwise intelligent people actually continue to buy into their ridiculous beliefs.

  Uncomfortable......when one comes by, I find them to be sort of like "the living dead". The other day, one stopped by to invite me to the Special Talk. She said: "I've missed you so much. Do you realize it's been a year since I saw you?" I said (just to see her reaction): "I wish we could be friends without me being a Jehovah's Witness, but I know how it is." I kid you not, it really was like watching a borg drone. She paused ever so briefly like she was trying to assimilate my words and calculate a reaction. Without missing a beat, she ignored my statement and continued her jabbering. I thought, WOW, that looked spooky. Yes! very uncomfortable...almost scary.

  Worried.... about those of my family still in it. THEY WOULD DRINK THE KOOL-AID if told to.

  Why do dubs act as if 1975 wasn't failed prophesy or misleading?

  from the evidence i have found, it was all but etched in stone.

  so why try and defend the wts by saying "they never stated armageddon would be in 1975", as one witness tried to throw back at me.. seems that you could show them all the evidence in the world of this false organization, and it will repel right off them.

  is there some sort of "force field" kool-aid they're serving at the halls?.

  I'm going to say it again: those of us who have left for doctrinal/wtbts teachings (not immorality) have "eyes that can see" and "ears that can hear". Those of us who were JWs in that 1975 era have "brains that can think." I'm like Garybuss: been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.

  Those that stayed in it have developed the above...some sort of "force field" kool-aid mentality. They have been further brain washed to the point that they no longer "remember" the facts as they were. My first response to this thread:

  That is not a statement I make out of bitterness or hatred of any kind. Nor do I make it lightly. I BELIEVE IT! When I sat in the KH one year ago this week, not only was I taken aback by the robot-like smiles, but the speaker's talk was boring, and so disjointed to the point of being incoherent. I looked around and everyone's eyes were blank and staring straight ahead. The phrase that was ingrained in me from early on kept going through my head: "Get out of her my people!" I couldn't wait to leave that spooky place and as I drove down the road toward home, I knew I would never ever set foot in a KH again.

  You have to wonder. I lived the 1975 ordeal as a young woman, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that the society had us all believing that was the end. I remember a couple in their 50's sold their house and went into the full time pioneer work a year or two in advance of '75. He quit his job and everything because of his certainty about the end coming that year. I wonder what happened to them financially and emotionally after that.

  It's really weird to me that those of us who have left either by fading, da'ing, or d'fing because of doctrinal disagreements (not because of immorality) can stand back and see it so clearly. It amazes us that those still in it can't grasp the absolute absurdity of this whole organization! I've often thought that something very evil and sinister has them in its grasp. I went to the special talk one year ago because I didn't want to hurt someone's feelings. She had made a special effort to invite me, but I was taken aback really by the zombie-like smiles and contrived friendliness. It's as if they are in some kind of mental stupor. Scary.

  what are your favourite biblical verses?

  even some ex jws may have become atheists but may still be fascinated by some.

  someone told me his favourite verse was "thou shalt not go hungry", he was always out of work and liked stealing, but according to him this was one of the commandments given to moses.

  Had The Chat With My Mother

  spilled the beans yesterday.

  told her i was never going to another meeting again.

  knew it wouldn't be too hard going as she's always had a few doubts herself, what i didn't appreciate was just how many she had and how hard she was finding it as she is developing a great social life with 'wordly' friends!!

  I only say that because I feel that "evil triumps when good men do nothing"...

  Dawg, you sound like a man of principles and I certainly admire that. It's frustrating when it seems so very clear to us what bs they make people swallow, and they can't just see it! But you have to remember that they live in extreme fear. They truly believe they have to shun in order to please God. They are so afraid of making a principled choice based on anything other than WTS doctrine. It's sad, sad, sad. Just be glad you are out, out, out!

  grammer and spelling

  i noticed someone correcting spelling for a couple of posters.

  it reminded me of a couple of things that really bug me.. "momentarily" as in "thank you for holding.

  someone will be with you momentarily.

  When I first started posting, the same hyperlink thingy happened to me and I posted the question for Tech Support and they said Simon has an arrangement with advertisers that key certain words in a post to trigger the ad. It's "to help pay the bills" according to what I was told.

  Brain death is pretty much the end.

  Respectfully, that's like saying if you unplug the computer from the electrical outlet, the electricity and programs cease to exist. They still exist (how and where ???)....but nevertheless, they still exist somewhere. They just no longer animate that particular computer.
