Percentage of JW's that are undercover?

it seems like a lot are there so they won't lose family and friends - are in good standing but don't actually believe.

What "Common Denominator" do most JW's have?
by JH indo you think that there is a common denominator, or are they all different people who found what they call "the truth"?.

Fear......death, a pretty mean and nasty God and Watchtower authorities, demons, apostates, worldly people, fellow congregants (being ratted on or gossiped about), losing their family if they speak their mind or commit a "sin", how they appear to the others

Newboy, nobody can rationalize that bullshit. Of course, they are collectively NOT in their right minds. Weddings are a great opportunity for them to pull their mean shunning stunts. My husband (xjw) was in tears last night - we were watching the movie Tortilla Soup about a man and his 3 young adult daughters. Mr. flipper misses his 2 daughters so much - we know his 18 year old daughter is getting married in May - haven't gotten an invitation. This daughter and her mom (both can be pretty mean while putting on a soft voiced, innocent face) caused the rest of his family to shun our wedding in Oct. The much nicer 20 yr old daughter won't return his calls lately. This cult never ceases to amaze me. My husband's 22 yr old son was the first to leave when he was 15 - Mr flipper would never have even considered shunning him. Thank god he is close to us - he is a wonderful young man. Your kids are good kids too - I'm so glad they are out of that nuthouse church and you can be there for each other. Flipper

Maybe I should go back and be a good little dubbie again!!
by AK - Jeff ini believe that i am experiencing a profound change in my personality, and those changes are at a stage where i have honestly contemplated this recently.
honestly.. i don't think i could ever do it - anyone who has followed me on the boards here know that i am neither suicidal nor an apologist for that lot.
yet, having been off work for a few weeks now with surgical recovery, i have had time to make assessment of my future.

Jeff - what you were going through is pretty normal feelings after the shunning, surgery - that's major stuff. The way you got out there and handled it was excellent. It's not easy to reach out when feeling so down. I think volunteering is the most spiritual thing there is. Flipper

One Year.
by RichieRich inapril 14th of last year, i had to tell my mother that i was an apostate and had spent the last year working against the very organization that she had spent her life supporting.. april 14th of this year, i woke up next to my lovely girlfriend, went to the gym, came home, cooked a hearty brunch, then went to my little corner of the world- my piercing shop, where i got to talk to and interact with people who respected me for who i was and what i did.
i did manage to sneak a way a little early, and come home to once again wrap my arms around one of the coolest young women i've ever known.. they say the best revenge is living well.
and i say revenge "is sweet, but not fattening.".

Happy Friday 13th! Are you superstitious about anything?
by Crumpet ina friend kindly pointed out it was friday 13th!!!
now i am not normally superstitious about anything, but i try and avoid going out on a full moon and am not overly keen on friday 13th.
i know its irrational but hey - i'm female (sorry that was a bad joke)!.

Well today is our 6 month anniversary - married on Fri Oct 13th because that day worked the best (we're not superstitious) Now I wonder if that freaked out the JW family even more than they already were (they didn't attend because some of them spied on us and stirred up a big mess). Anyway , I kind of consider it lucky in that it's a happy occasion. Oh, hell, the lights are blinking and the ceiling's coming down! aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.......

ammunity
by BR25 inas you all know by now i am a jw backer, and in the first week on here i have gone back and forth with people.
alot of people on here have a problem with all the rules.
in my opinion i dont think they were too hard to follow and most of it was stuff that you shouldnt be doing anyways.

BR25, my husband's family thinks the same way - that it's about the rules. They seemed to think he left so he could go wild out in the world. Not true - he is very honest, hardworking, kind, never been in trouble. He has helped his son (who left before him), and his son's friend (who would not be allowed by their JW families) to go to college, they are good students, not doing any of the crazy stuff the JW's are told he will do. They are honest and kindhearted people who left because of the lies about everything, hypocrisy, Nazi-like tattle-tale policies and cultish mind control. Both have found people in the world to be much more sincere, Christian, and trustworthy. flipper

Is Fading a DF Offense?
by besty inwife sweet pea and i are just starting the 2nd phase of our fade, which as we are already inactive and at 50% meeting attendance, means stopping going altogether.. supposing the elders decide they want to make a shepherding call - which we naturally decline - could they announce us as 'no longer known as jw's' for declining the call, not being at meetings and being inactive?.
what if we did take the shepherding call and told the elders we just weren't coming back, with no specific reasons given?
they would be bound to ask if we still believed the fds doctrine, which we could lie about use theocratic warfare strategy and say we were just a bit depressed, with money worries, struggling with the routine etc and would probably be back soon.. thoughts?.

(continued) The old expression, " Anything you say can or will be used against you in a court of law" is true. Especially in a JW kangaroo court where the kangaroos hop around the truth and getthe hangman's noose out for you. I was raised a witness from the early 1960's and know what I'm saying. My dad and older brother are still elders in it. Just make sure your friends and family are worth keeping close to or ask yourself, would they jeopardize your sanity and prospects for a happy life???? Tread water carefully. Mrs. Flipper and I are very happy and we send our unconditional love. Sincerely, Mr. Flipper.

Dear Sweet Pea and her husband, I'm Flippers husband Mr. Flipper. Want to help you a little. The elders won't DF you for being inactive, or not going to meetings, but as in my case if you have relatives or friends who are witnesses, you have to be careful what you say to them, or they may act as spies and report what you do to the elders. I tried to fade and after 3 and a half years of inactivity the elders still came after me ,accusing me of living with my fiance before marriage. Due to my youngest daughter's and ex-wife's ( ex since 1998) intrusion into my personal life. It caused the elders to pursue someone (me) who had been uninvolved with the organization for 3 and a half years. A bit creepy and sobering, wouldn't you say? That they would view me as that an important entity to bother with is downright weird!!! The elders came after me when all I was trying to do was live a peaceful loving life with my new wife (quietly peacefully) . They kept bothering me even after 6 months of marriage. Finally I got tired of it and threatened them in writing with a lawsuit if they pursued it further and told them not to phone, stalk, or harass my wife or me any further at their own peril. That was 3 weeks ago and have'nt heard from them since ( knock loudly on wood everybody) . So to make a long message longer, sweet pea and her husband my advice is to be firm, don't tell them anything they could use against you and by all means, you need to assess if you have friends or family worth keeping in contact with in that organization, you still need to be discreet and careful as to what you say and to whom you say it to if they are JW's.
